I use these for work at a department store , I'm on my feet all day and constantly walking around, they provide comfort and stability to my feet all shift long and would highly recommend.

These shoes are rather "old-school" and a bit clunky. That's okay. I got them for the width and amazingly, they probably actually are 6e as they are supposed to be. They are expensive as they are US-made but don't look for any better quality than any other shoes. They appear as if they will last for a long time. Expensive but worth the cost for me.

I am a fan of Newbalance 990. Order a 1/2 larger because I had to return my initial pair because they were to small.

Recently I tried a different popular running shoe, because I was traveling and unable to acquire new New Balance 990's, but my old ones were really worn out. The new shoe was really comfortable at first... lighter, cooler, more flexible. However, it didn't have the stability of the 990, which I've been wearing for 20 years. My whole body started to hurt! When I got home I got a new pair of 990v5, and within a couple of days, I started feeling better.

This is truly the best fitting pair of shoes that I have ever owned. I have always worn shoes too narrow and my feet hurt as a result. I could never find the perfect fit until now. Thank you Zappos.

Using only these type of shoes, We do a fast walk (4+ miles in 55 mins) for exercise 5-6 days every week on asphalt. These shoes seem to hold up but they dont last long before the foam soles lose its “Umph” in a few months. Why do they cost so much and not last long? I’m not overweight so what causes the steady decay in performance?

I walk everyday 5 miles using these shoes the stability And support is great . The cushioning is not as soft as foam products but adequate. My one complaint is the mesh used tends to break and holes appear long before tread is worn . This is a problem new balance needs to address.

Same high quality as the other 990's I've bought. These seemed a little bit bigger than the previous ones though, but maybe my feet have just shrunk a little bit, who knows. \_()_/

I really like the 990v5s. They feel really good. Also, I like that they are more traditional in style, and do not look silly or overly trendy like many of the athletic shoes today. Price is a little high for me, and I hope it levels out a bit.

Quality-good-my old set of shoes were better made but were not a USA product
Good shoes-not the best
Needs additional sole cushioning and increased arch support-i needed orthopedic type. These shoes are acceptable.
I accept the shortfalls primarily because it was made in USA
I thought about returning but I don.t think U make a better shoe

I've gone through a number of the 990 versions. For some odd reason I tried two pairs and there is a consistent problem -- the left heel backing on them either have a palpable "bump" or fold in the and under the fabric. I stayed with the lesser of two evils, but at this price I wonder if I'll return to the 990 again. Of note, the V2-V4 were absolutely excellent. This version has some issues.

Having not purchased New Balance in the past I was not sure. After some research and a doctors recommendation however, I decided to buy the 990v5. The comfort and fit of these shoes is amazing and I applaud New Balance for their commitment. The customer service is one of the best I have encountered. I was so impressed with everything that I purchased 4 pairs of these shoes so I am good for a while. Would recommend to anyone.
