The Scree 32, with its fully padded hip belt and suspension system, will be a great hiking pack when carrying a load. It has the right amount of pockets to keep things organized but so many that it becomes a hunt to find things. For travel in challenging areas, the design of the tri-zipper main pack entry makes it easy to keep the pack's contents secured. The other zipper pockets face the back of wearer's head which also helps maintain control of access. The pack is well made and should last for years.

Very pleased with my Mystery Ranch, Scree 32! This pack is exactly what I was hoping for. It's lightweight, very comfortable, adjustable and I found the design simplistic, but still had just the right amount of well placed accessory pockets. Not often do you find a piece of critical gear that turns out as good as you hoped it would! Great job Mystery Ranch!

This pack fits very well with the ability to adjust the torso pad, allowing a spcific fit. It carrys very well and the multiple pockets allow for organizing your gear. Very pleased with this pack and it seems extremely well made.

I bought the backpack about 2 weeks ago. It really is nicely laid out.

I bought this a few weeks ago, and it's perfect for my needs! Not too big, not too small! Perfect compliment to my other gear!

It's not every day that you can say a pack made literally saved your life. I can however. Two weeks ago I was hiking in starved rock State Park and helping my son wade down a low waterfall. My feet went out from under me and I went down on my back like a cartoon character after stepping on a banana skin. All the other hackers in the area came running, so it must've looked really scary. Somehow, my entire body above the bottom of the pack was unharmed. Everything below joined into one giant bruise that formed her full belt around my waist. If I hadn't been wearing the pack, it would've been concussion at least. Lots of other things to love about it, but this was a unique experience.

I purchased this pack over a month ago after doing research and investigating other brands. Better adjustments, better quality, 3 zipper system is a game changer. You get what you pay for with Mystery Ranch!

I was blown away with the quality and construction of this day pack! It totally exceeded my wildest expectations for a day pack. I forgot that I even had it on, as I hiked all day! Well built with lots of room for everything that you might or think you might need for a day hike. Very comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Well worth the purchase many times over!

The Scree 32 checked all the boxes for a pack that could effectively support a host of backcountry trail maintainence activities (chainsaw sawyer, log saw sawyer, brushing and weeding, trail construction and general hiking/inspection work) . I find the accessibility of items both inside and external to the pack to be unparalleled and the frame and suspension to handle the unexpected, like hauling out heavy loads of found items and litter in an already loaded pack. It's also big enough for overnight backpacking in warmer seasons. No regrets.

Mystery Ranch quality all over... This is a small pack built like the bigger Mystery Ranch backpacks. Ready to haul.

I've had this pack for years and have used it all over New England for daily use, local hiking, work in the field, and summiting larger peaks in the region. I've never had a more comfortable and functional pack. I've switched to a 2DAP for everyday use, but this is still my go-to for everything else. The one issue I have with the pack has to do with the straps. There is a piece of thin but rigid plastic in each strap near where they connect to the top of the pack. They're somewhat free-floating inside the strap and they often times ride to the side and press against the side of the strap. It's not a huge deal: I've just gotten into the habit of adjusting them through the material of the strap as I shoulder the pack, but I'm guessing there's a way to fix them in place so that one doesn't have this issue. Otherwise, it's my favorite pack ever!

several trips, hikes and flights with this pack. Good comfort and organization without being totally overbuilt. Great size for both day hikes, cragging, whatever as well as fits great in an overhead carryon bin.

I lived out of this bag for 6 days while backpacking a Sequoia-Kings canyon 100ish mile loop with no resupply and it worked great. Like everyone else says, it is very comfortable and hold 20 lbs well, as the harness contours to your body with its extra wide 3" shoulder straps. The bag is only 32 liters but fills out nicely, I still had storage even after packing for roughly a week in the high sierras. I got the copper color and I absolutely love it.

At 6-4", 240#, fits like a glove. I hardly realize I have it on when carry a decent load-out. The daisy chain webbing, on the front, is super practical. The simple Y zipper system always you to filet the pack and access any piece of gear you need without having to unload and reload your pack. I love the single cargo main bucket compartment. it allow un restricted access to the total volume, without have little pockets and side pouches get in my way.

I just bought this earlier this spring and it has become my go to pack for day hikes!! The side pockets are extremely deep and hold water bottles better that any other pack I have ever had.

Be aware that most reviews are for the old version, Scree 32L, not the new 33L. The redesign has a number of changes (materials, zippers, straps) and should have its own seperate reviews. The new bag also cost a hundred dollars more. Old version was a great "one bag travel bag" and I will not be paying more for the newer version.

I am impressed at how much you can load inside this pack. I can fit multiple jackets, helmet, cramp on, small camera, water, crampons, and carry my axe and poles on the outside. And it fits very comfortably. The annoying thing is, the buckles are weak. One broke the moment i took it out of the box and test load my gear. And these are not easy to replace buckles. Another small annoying detail are the zipper pulls. They are too small for glove use. Luckily these are easy to replace, which I did with larger paracord and shrink tubbing. Over all it's a fantastic backpack, with a couple of small flaws.

I've used this a little so far. For an assault pack sized pack it does an amazing job. I've taken it with me on multiple hikes and I actually just got back from a three day trip to Channel Islands. If you check out SamTheOddMan on YouTube you'll see me walking around with it. The frame felt solid and the material is durable although I haven't been beating like I would if I was still in the military. If you think you'll be falling and sliding down a lot from bad terrain I would recommend a military pack but for relaxing to moderate hikes and outdoor ventures this is an amazing pack!

I am a pretty big guy. Pack fits well. Only thing I would change is the upper side compression straps. I would like the upper strap to mimic the lower compression strap.

Returned the 25L and got the 30L for just a bit more space. I like the interior pockets and the two zippered pockets on the lid. Daisy chains can be useful, but I liked the pockets on the 25L Coulee more. Oh well. I do like that the bottom of the pack has molle straps, so in theory, I could attach a sleeping bag for an overnight if I packed light and used a tarp 10x10 instead of a tent. Nice deep water bottle pockets, but I can't get them out while walking, which seems inconvenient. Feels good on my back. I'm sure I'll enjoy it for years to come! At 22 inches, it might actually work as carry-on luggage, too. The only thing that was disappointing was that the waist belt has no pockets. Now I'll have to add them from another company as add-ons.

Quality and materials are great. The attachment for suspending a bladder is perfect. The brain is well-designed and roomy enough without being too big. However with anything in the main compartment, good luck getting a Nalgene bottle out of or (especially) back into the side pockets without taking off the pack. So, if you can meet ALL your water needs with a bladder, it's OK. If you're going to carry bottles and don't want to stop, look at something else.
