This is now my favorite suitcase for short trips. I love the fact that it's light yet durable. It's the perfect size for a weekend get away. It allows me to pack everything I need for a weekend without it being too large. In addition, the USB port is invaluable when you're at an airport and need to recharge your phone. Overall, I'm beyond satisfied with this bag. It is everything I could ask for and more.

I was so excited about getting the Platinum Elite spinner! I have the older version with just 2 wheels and have other Platinum Elite sizes. But-the wheels don't work as well as they do on my other pieces. I was disappointed. Though they do work and are easier to get down airline walkways than my old one was. Also, the fact that it doesn't have an outside pocket for a water bottle was disappointing. I have a larger carryon that also has the battery compartment that doesn't have the pocket but I really didn't notice that this smaller size also was without it.

Great size for international travel and smaller cabin storage spaces. However my partner has the two wheeled version and it was far superior with pouches including a zipper in toiletry bag for quick TSA inspection. Seems like now you have to purchase all those separate. Like packing cubes. Whereas with my partners two-wheeled version you didn't need packing cubes with all the zippered pouches and restraint straps. Also the extended handle was very wobbly in comparison.

Zippers stick. Hoping they smooth out. Velcro can make side opening awkward to access. Size is nice.

This is a great replacement for my 10 year old bag - Love the upgraded roller wheels, the old had but two wheels, but sorely miss the straps in the main compartment

The Platinum Elite Bauer with the magnetic positioning are the best rolling bags ever. I travel 60+% of the time and this feature in invaluable. The Platinum Elite bags are extremely well made and have sturdy handles that adjust to the perfect height regardless of if yoinks are 5 feet or 7 feet tall. This bag would be perfect if it had a deeper pockets for your laptop and Ipad. Just barely squeezes in a 13 inch computer and is too short for an IPad Pro.

I bought the Vintage Gray with the leather trim and it looks great. It arrived in a heavy cardboard box completely wrapped in plastic, so not a scratch on it. This is a smaller piece of luggage that is meant for shorter trips (1-3 days IMHO) and is basically is a square to pack in, with the outside zipped compartment for other things like your laptop, travel docs, etc.
The bag materials are thick (read QUALITY, high denier ballistic nylon that will last forever), the sewing is on-point with no sticking problems, of course the magnetic wheels spin effortlessly and track straight when rolling (huge benefit over other bluggage). The Vintage Gray is well, vintage - i think the style is sharp, classy and something that will be easier to find than the standard black or navy blue of other luggage.
The handle is substantial and I found it to be sturdy and comfortable, with a contoured handle. The zippers are Supra and are strong and work well. And of course it comes with a USB port with a dedicated power pack compartment (you have to buy the battery separately), laptop compartment and 4 pockets and a key ring in the zippered compartment.
You will love or hate this one feature: Opening the tote.
The tote, standing up, opens with the cover coming forward towards you, so that it is open on an angle, but not completely. There is a snap and velcro that holds the top partially open. The idea is that you unsnap and pull the cover so that you can pack with it wide open. Then, when traveling, you can open it without the contents spilling out. I don't see a huge need for that myself, so I find that annoying. To fix that, I took a piece of velcro, cut it the length of the Tote's velcro on each side and affixed it so that it can no longer grab the piece it was designed to adhere to. My bag now only opens all the way (like when you pack it). Problem solved quickly and easily. This is NOT a reason to forego this purchase.
I pack with cubes and since there are no tie-downs in this smaller size luggage, that would help organization and keeping things where they should be until you take them out. For a small piece of luggage, it is a great size to bring what you need and no more for a short trip. Makes handling it a breeze and it will pass any carriers Carry-On restrictions.
I love this bag, and would have given it 5-stars (to love it even more) except for the following things (which are NOT deal-breakers):
1) there should be a zippered cover on the inside to keep contents in place and to separate a large compartment into an top/bottom space for better organization.
2) it should come with the clear quart toiletry bag that zips inside as in the other Travelpro bags.
3) the second compartment zippers come together and should also have lockable zippers - not sure how they compare to YKK, but these seem to be built for the long haul.
The pictures show the bag fully open, snapped so it opens partially, and a close up of where I cut a piece of velcro and attached it to the bag's velcro to stop it from adhering.
I highly recommend this bag. You may not need it, as I have a 20" spinner, but that is typically more space than I need on shorter trips, so this fits the need and is just the right size.

The first time my husband used this, the handle locked and would not go down. He tried to fix it, empty of packed, it jammed. He threw it away. It had lots of desirable feAtures, just did not work correctly.
