Picked up these shoes for trail running and hiking. Unfortunately the topline/collar puckers while walking, creating a pocket for small rocks and twigs to fall into. While hiking outdoors I had to take off my shoes every 15 minutes to get debris out of the shoe. This got tedious after our 4 hour hike. For a trail running shoe, this is a deal breaker. If the topline/collar had some stretch, this could be have been avoided. Seems crazy that Arc'teryx didn't catch this before releasing this premium shoe. Wish I could return it.

These shoes have been a pleasure for hiking and scrambling. The grip is amazing, even on wet rocks and the gore-tex design is fantastic in sloppy conditions. I feel like an agile mountain goat when I combine these shoes with my black diamond trekking poles. And like all Arc'teryx products they look amazing and fill you with confidence. By measure I'm a size 11 or 11.5 but I always order a 12 because I have a wide foot. In other brands the 12 can sometimes leave too much toe room but the Arc'teryx 12 is a perfect fit.

Until now my serach for waterproof running shoes located footwear that did a terrible job breathing in spite of GoreTex or were too heavy or stiff and uncomfortable. These sneakers have none of those deficits. They are incredibly light, breathe well (GoreTex that works) and are extremely comfortable. They also provide excellent cushion. They even come in 1/2 sizes so that I didn't have to deal with too small or too big. These water-proof running shoes are amazing.

These are amazing. I just received these and wore them in a snowstorm...all day. Feet stayed dry. Wore them to the airport and traveled across the country with them putting up to the test! Comfortable with or without socks....these are a must have. Im 6'2" and normally wear a 13 and these are perfect/true to size!!

I'm usually a UK size 13/EU 48 so it's no wonder that I find a lot of shoes tight but these needed more breaking in than most. Entirely worth it though! These are the comfiest shoes I've had in ages. Amazing grip even in the wet and they are the lightest shoes I own. Great for a run if you're going off-road or for an approach to some climbing as they weigh so little. I'd highly recommend these.
And they look amazing in red too!

Light weight, waterproof, comfortable. Exactly as advertised. Had them for a few months and they're holding up really well. Couldn't be happier.

I bought the orange type.
Unfortunately, I need to returns it because fit to tight for my foot. My foot is 23 cm length. On the table, the correct size to buy is the 451/3 but I have tried it and too precise, there is no space between the tip of the foot and the tip of the shoe. So I need to return it.
Now I bought the version without gore-tex because I will wait for the availability of orange in size 46. The yellow colour is not for me and black it is too sad for these amazing shoes.

As an Arc'teryx athlete, I had the privilege of working on early versions of the shoe and I am really excited with how it turned out. I don't normally like GTX shoes, but I have been wearing this shoe a lot this spring as the snow melts and I am beyond psyched with it. The Norvan SL GTX shoe is the perfect mountain shoe designed for speed when the weather calls for a bit more protection. This superlight trail running shoe is designed for moving fast, with climbing and scrambling as a forethought.
The shoe rolls well through your stride, meaning it runs very well on flatter terrain, but it really shines when things get technical. The ultra-lightweight forefoot TPU plate protects against trail debris, which is really important for mountain runs and the mega-grip sole inspires confidence when moving in the mountains.
It is probably not well suited for ultra ling runs, but depending on your comfort with a minimally built and cushioned shoe, it is awesome for half day missions. It's also very well suited as an approach shoe for climbers looking to get to the crag quickly, or link up different zones. It also looks great!

These shoes are great. I'm not a runner, but I use them for walking/hiking on gravel, dirt and asphalt. They're lightweight, comfortable, and very breathable. They also look awesome.
That said, I want to reiterate what some other reviewers have pointed out, these are not waterproof whatsoever. I bought these because I was looking for a water resistant shoe for Vancouver rain. I think the only Goretex is in the toe box. The top of your feet will be wet within 20 minutes of walking in moderate rain.
I don't blame Arc'teryx for this, they don't say the shoe is waterproof, but whenever I read "Goretex" I assume the item is in fact waterproof which is my mistake.

I think these are fine shoes however they were just too narrow in the forefoot for me, the length was fine. Zappos was quick to accept and process my refund.

Received my pair about a month go for a 2 week trip. Primarily the weight was very appealing given that I had to pack relatively light but still needed a pair of shoes that were adept at running and some mountainous hiking. A deep burgundy color also set it apart from other more brown/black neutral colors. A nice contrast in a bright blue sole color makes it stand out.
I loved the feel of them, whether walking around town or hiking through the hills, they are light and responsive and my feet felt good even after a couple of hours of continuous hiking. With a pair of athletic socks, the ventilation and fabric were adequate in keeping my feet nice and comfortable. The grip from the sole was solid and offered good purchase on smooth rocks and gravel terrain. I didn't dip my feet into any water so I can't vouch for the gore tex fabric.
There are some sacrifices made for the weight savings however. The heel collar is thin and not much ankle support is given. The sole cushioning is something you'll need to get used to, its certainly adequate but you'll definitely feel most large rocks and obstacles as you go through them. You are not going to get the same shock absorbance as a full blown hiking shoe so be careful when planting your foot down.
I would say my biggest complaint is the heel collar, there's a synthetic plastic like collar that is supposed to mold itself around your ankle but in reality once you put the shoes on, you'll see that due to the design, it'll naturally spread and flex. You'll end up with some folds and holes between ankle and the heel collar. Resulted in some gravel/dirt that will inevitably end up in your shoe. The material itself also could be more skin friendly. Because of its more plastic nature, it ended up irritating the heel quite quickly, not a big issue if you have long socks but a problem for those of us into ankle or short socks.
Post 6 hour hike over the Samarian Gorge in Crete, my feet survived relatively well. A visual inspection of the shoes show that it was relatively unscathed. I did note that the sole upon a closer look is starting to become wrinkled from the continuous compression and there was a small rock puncture in the bottom of the sole.
Overall, pretty happy with the shoes, its a nice stylish pair equally fine for walking around town or a day hike. Just be mindful of some of the minor issues noted above.

i bought these for a light weight hiking/walking waterproof shoe, they work on all accounts. Comfortable right out of the box, the only thing I have found is the toe box is snug, but they feel really good when walking in them. looking forward to a ton of miles on them in DC and NY in the next couple weeks

I've never had shoes as comfortable as this pair when running. As someone who will move both heel or toes first, the shoes provided proper support without feeling unnatural, which I deeply appreciated

I've ran in these for about five months now. I have a pretty average foot but these fit narrow in the mid foot. The laces end up being really spread a part. Toe box is good, plenty of room. The shoe material is durable but very minimal. I wish it had more interior padding especially around the top of the shoe and heal. The traction is oddly grippy even when wet. In muddy or loose gravel terrain I wish the lugs were deeper, seems like a design flaw for a trail running shoe. The cushioning is good just not enough. I don't like a lot of cushion but on a long run I find myself more sore with these shoes wishing for a little more. They are also lacking enough arch support. Again I don't need a lot but I notice it when running. These shoes are suppose to be water proof (GorTex) and I can assure you they are not. On wet days my feet are soaked. There must be holes in the seems around the sole or something. All in all I can't wait to get different shoes, I would like to try the LD version. These shoes for the most part are well made, durable, quality shoes just lacking some refinement. An updated new model is needed and they might have a great shoe.

Got these for Christmas in Black and started wearing them few months ago. Nice looking shoes light and comfortable but a major issue made me stop wearing them now they are retired in the closet and im shopping for something else. I did not anticipate this but the Upper Collar is not tight beneath the ankles ( not enough research on Arcteryx part) it is somehow floppy creating an opening allowing debris like small rocks and twigs to enter and stop you midway through running to take off the shoes and empty it. the loose floppy collar / Puckers changed the look as well the shoes look nice but with this problem they look cheap (they are not) That totally changed the course of the running trail to avoid this problem. the tread is some how thinner for outdoor running i wonder how long it would last for a pricey shoes. more padding on the tongue area would be better. not sure if i can exchange or return them because they were a Christmas present.
