My son loves these hiking shoes. He is almost 2 and tries to hike as much as he can

Training my son right by getting him his first pair of Merrells! We use them for trips to town, lite hiking or walking up our dirt/gravel road. They are (of course) heavier than a running shoe but also much more durable. The little loop on the heel could be slightly larger so an adult finger could fit; it would help getting the shoe on without collapsing the back. The elastic "laces" get easier to stretch as you break them in. We've only had them a month or two, so I can't comment on longevity but so far it seems the child will outgrow them long before they break down. User is very average in size and they seem to fit appropriately.

Since I received them my son is super happy with his new pair of shoes, he likes them a lot, I recommend this product to everyone.

This is an all around great shoe! Good looking and made nicely. My toddler has flat feet, so the fact we could actually get a wide shoe in his size was amazing. First shoe in a long time that did not leave indentations in the top of his foot! The shoe is sturdy and has excellent grip. My little guy runs all over the rocks and I dont have to worry about him hurting his little feet on them. Cleans easily and dries quickly. I will Definitely be purchasing this shoe in larger sizes!

Although they both have two or three other pairs of perfectly good shoes, these are the only shoes that my daughter and son (6 and 4) will wear. My daughter has been wearing the same pair of Trail Chasers for well over a year now, and they are still going strong. We just ordered another pair for her, but only because she is going to need to move up a size soon. My son has been eyeing his sister's "adventure shoes" for a while now, and finally demanded his own pair this fall. They are light weight, extremely durable, and (according to the kids) very comfortable. Exactly what I have experienced with my own Merrells.

Needed something a little more rugged for hiking and the woods. This shoe is perfect. His feet do not get wet like in regular sneakers. It's his go to shoe now. He likes the colors cause his dads favorite color is orange.

My 2 year old loves running around in the dirt and mud puddles so we decided to spend the extra money to get him these shoes. We do not regret it. They have been so durable and easy to clean. We got a half size up, because kids grow so fast, and because of how well they fit, width wise, he has not had any issues with them slipping off. When he out grows these we will be purchasing the next size up.

I love these shoes because they have great gripping so my kids don't slip outdoors if it's a little wet when they're playing on the playground or we're doing some light hiking. Also, I love that the Velcro strap loops through and around/over. Some other shoe designers sew one side down and that never secures the shoes as well as the way Merrell designs their strap. Overall, these shoes wear great and are reasonably durable except for the heel part. After only 2 weeks, the part you slide your heel into is lumpy and collapsed. It doesn't seem to bother my kids, but I have not had this issue with other Merrells or other brands.

Well made but runs small. Got these for a 4 year old but they are a little tight compared to the same size in other brands

The fit is perfect. My nephew seems to love them.

Ordered two sizes up for my son so he could grow into them. They came and were snug, but we're hopeful once he breaks them in they will fit more loosely. Durable and good for kids who play rough, but definitely order a few sizes up for little kiddos with big or growing feet.

My boys can put a beating on a shoe, but these are pretty durable and secure on the foot. The tread on the bottom is solid and grippy. They look good, too. The kid says they're comfortable and feel good to wear. The only thing I'd improve is the toe area. It might be nice to have something with more rubber upfront because the last pair wore out in that area first.

Bought these shoes for my 4 year old in preparation for an upcoming hiking trip. She started wearing them prior to the trip to break them in and after only two weeks, the Velcro strap is ripped and very worn. Not sure if the shoes will last till our trip. I've never had shoes deteriorate this quickly. Very disappointed.

My son had the trail quest jr. It was a great shoe, so we bought this shoe in the next size. The shoe opening is too small. Even in a size wide by son has to smash his foot down to get it to slide into the shoe. It hurts him to put the shoe on. In the Trail quest he could put the shoes on himself, with this shoe it takes both of us pushing his foot. I would not buy again.

Bought these for my grandson, wore them three times, elastic lace snapped almost immediately!

Bungee cord makes them REALLY hard to get on. Tooke the bungee out and the tongue isn't sewn in like the last ones we bought in size 5. The toe also came unglued within the first few weeks of wear

Terrible quality. One shoe was visibly tighter than the other, with no slack at all in the elastics that are tacked in place. Practically impossible to put that one tighter shoe on my child.

Purchased this shoe for my 18 month old son in a wide. The shoe is super cute, but not nearly wide enough. It was the right length, but the top of the shoe is rigid and I could not even get his foot partially in the shoe. Had to return.
