These are so awesome and I regrettably returned them due to Hasbeens' site having even cuter shoes for cheaper than Zappos. Also, these felt so narrow and I stupidly thought that due to the stiffness of the leather, they wouldn't be easily broken in. I was wrong.
Hasbeens uses vegetable tanning and no chrome, so their leathers are initially very stiff. If you buy a nubuck shoe, this shouldn't be a problem, but the untreated natural leather stars as one of the stiffest.
I don't have narrow feet, nor wide; my feet are regular shmegular in shape and size. I have no high arches, no flat feet, no issues whatsoever. That said, I wrongly assumed these were too narrow.
You can easily break these in with a decent shoe horn. Sometimes I make my husband shove his oddly-wide foot into my shoes to break them in quicker, but he complains about the pain too much XD
When I danced, I'd shove a horn or even a wide spoon/ladle into my shoe and use a blow dryer to soften the leather. I'd do a lot more, but none are recommended for your every day shoe.
Hasbeens gives out a thorough booklet on how to soften the leather. Their site has it listed as well and I highly recommend looking it over before purchasing.
These particular beauties fall into the "super high" rather than "sky high" category, which makes them the goldilocks height. They're so cute, comfy, and go with everything! You can wear them with cropped sweats and a hoodie like I did, or a cute dress like my friend did and both ways work!
It's recommended to treat them with olive oil, rather than your standard shoe spray. This will darken the leather indefinitely. Natural leather will have a beautiful patina over time, but I don't recommend wearing these untreated.
If you want the leather to be lighter, many have used natural coconut oil. Do NOT use cosmetic grade; DO USE food grade pure coconut oil and check the label! This will make the leather darker, but less cognac in color.
If you like the darker leather, by all means use what's recommended. I used Costco's EVOO and had beautiful results!
For once, Zappos is actually cheaper than the brand's site (same with the Pearl style!) I highly recommend these clogs to anyone looking for a cute, quality, lifetime shoe!!! If you're put off by the price and of breaking them in, try the Pearl in nubuck. Nubuck is softer than the color/natural clogs.
On the site, it says the Pearl sky highs run small. I did find them a half size smaller and bought a 37. I usually wear a 6 or 6.5 and both these and Pearl fit perfectly in a 37.
