He wore these all over Peru and loves them so much that I am buying a pair for myself for Kauai. It's those 5mm lugs that sealed the deal.

I've been looking for a replacement for another company's discontinued hydrotreker and I finally found it. Quick drying material, enough support for hiking and light backpacking, sticky soles, & comfortable built-in gators. Can't wait to really put them through their paces on an October canoe/backpacking trip in the Adirondacks.

Was looking for a shoe for all circumstances you would encounter in nature. Found it with Choprock. Light weight and flexible. Durable on rough terrain and dries out well after hiking down creek a ways. Comfortable and breathable. My feet are good for the trail.

I needed a shoe when walking down to the pool. These are awesome. Very comfortable and they drain very well when I get water in them. Curious to see how they hold up over the long term.

I've got some pretty difficult feet to keep happy. From arch issues to bunion issues to plantar fasciitis, I've seen it all. These shoes fit great and were instantly a favorite straight out of the box. I hope to get more that fit just like them.

This very well may be the perfect hiking/kayaking shoe. Step onto or out of anything dry or wet with spiderman grip. Rocky, muddy, sandy, doesn't matter. has a perfect mesh covering over water holes that keeps everything but water out. I LOVE THESE SHOES !!!!!!

I just finished a 6 day canoe trip in BWCA. I wet footed during the portages wearing the Choprocks and was very impressed. These shoes had great grip on slippery rocks. Several times my friends would complain of losing their footing due to wearing competitors shoes while I had little to no issues. I wore wool socks with these so I can't comment on barefoot comfort, but it felt like I was wearing a normal shoe the entire time. They did take a while to dry out in cool weather but that isnt a big deal if you're just going to get them wet again.

As the review summary says. Size did run a little big compared to my prior (5 yrs ago) Merrells (not made anymore). They were 11.5 so i chose 11.5 again. An 11 would be a little better- but I do wear these with the low cut/invisible footies unless wearing through water, just because i don't like how my bare feet feel in shoes in general. Very comfortable, stable and light.

I walk, jog, run or hike almost on regular basis, so I require a pair of shoes that offers lightness, comfort and dependability. My Flame Orange Chop Rock is my third Merrell hiking shoes. It has been tested in many trails around Gatineau Park, Canada. I hike Waterfall Trail, Lauriault Trail, Mountain King, and Wolf Trail all on my Merrell Chop Rock. I crossed streams, creeks, muddy waters, all in the comfort of my extra lightweight Merrell, knowing my toes would be protected and it would quickly be dry right another hundred of metres afterward.
I step on rocks confidently, knowing it has very strong grip on its surface.
Durability of the footwear is a bonus ... like my two previous Merrell that I still wear as substitutes to my new Merrell footwear.

I am very impressed with the Merrell Brand of Men's shoe. I have purchased six pairs of different styles over the past 4 years and I am never disappointed. I am a hip replacement wearer and comfort and support is a must which is why I come back to Merrell over and over. I may pay a bit more but the quality is worth it!

I work in wet environments and water proof shoes make my feet sweat too much. Also some of the previous Merrells I have had, were too heavy for the amount of steps I walk on concrete or pavement. These were much lighter in comparison. This had a tie box that is just strong enough and when my feet get wet the shoes dry much faster than other shoes I have had. I have only been beating in them for a month. They have held up so far.

I have been using the Choprocks for about a month and a half and absolutely love them. I've used them on the trail and on the river while kayaking and have honestly not found one thing that I don't like. They're comfortable, light weight, have great traction and drain well. Another great product from Merrell!

I was looking for a light weight, fast drying, comfortable hiking shoe that still offered sufficient foot protection bottom and front... found it. Break-in hike of 19 miles with 23lb pack on Mt Cheaha's (Alabama) more challenging trails proved their worth. Warm enough with morning temps near 30 and cool enough with afternoons in the upper 70s (welcome to Bama weather), plenty of grip on the rock scrambles and steep climbs, good traction in mud and "important" lug design dumped it out efficiently avoiding dragging extra weight down trail. Perhaps the best feature (for me)... crazy quick drain and quick dry. Just keep walking and they pretty much take care of themselves! For this trip I used Darn Tough wool socks. In 20s and below I would switch to waterproof socks for rain etc. Thank's Merrell, I have a new favorite shoe for about 80% of my trips going forward. The other 20%? Hanging on to my Merrell Moabs, we have been thru too much to completely break up now.

I had 6 different pairs of the Merrell Choprock and found them to be some of the fastest drying, terrian versatile and comfortable shoes I've owned. My only complaint was the lacing system. I prefer a bungee style cinch. Too bad they quit making them.

If you have a narrower foot I would pass on this product. Everything else seems to be great. My husband would rate at a five.

Really happy with my Choprocks as they're a legit hiking shoe that drains water nearly instantly with the well placed drains in the sole, while protecting your feet more than the Sieve from larger debris. I've had other major brands' water hikers that were entirely too hard-soled and were actually slick when wet. The Choprocks are extremely grippy...time will tell what kind of treadlife this allows for. The toe protection is great as well, and welcome on my local, rocky, trails.
The inner is well-constructed and comfortable without socks, but beware that sand and fine dirt will still get past the mesh allowing for blister-inducing friction. Therein lies the issue if you opt to wear socks to guard against that. They fit a good 1/2-size or so tighter than expected. Fortunately I have thin, low-top liner socks that fit the bill perfectly. Anything beyond that and they'd be too small. So if you plan on a decent hike in these through water while wearing some merino socks...size up a 1/2 size. The width, however, is fantastic, and not too narrow.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these for someone doing a multi-mile hike through numerous water crossings, or for simply strapping onto a pack for a hike to the lake with your four-legged fishdog!
