I bought this jacket at a Northface store in Costa Rica 5 days ago. I go into the rain forest for hours to take pictures. Yesterday I went to Braulio Carrillo rain forest and used the jacket for the first time. The rain forest reminded everyone on the hike why it's called a rain forest. Unfortunately it also whooped the jacket's rain proofing. The material deflects drops, but once it gets drenched moisture starts creeping in. I'm going to return the jacket today, hope the store takes it back or allows me to trade it in for something else. Here's a screenshot from a video showing the jacket mid-deluge in the background... my Northface Ultra 110 shoes though came through with flying colors as they always do!

This was my first time buying a rain jacket and I had high hopes with North Face. My first time wearing it in a light rain it soaked through within an hour.

Bought this jacket for the range and wear during rainy days. I thought it was me but I felt the inside of the jacket and it was wet/damp. It wasn't soaked through by any means but it certainly is not "Waterproof". It's comfortable but a little on the snug side.

I was very excited to get this jacket, but I am so disappointed. It is brand new and the jacket is slowly self destructing. When the jacket comes new, it is folded neatly, with the high collar folded down almost like a lapel. I have worn this jacket only 3 times. It still has the original creases in it from the original packaging. To the point... There is a thin piece of velcro on the right side of the collar that is utilized to secure the collar together when the hood is in use for maximum coverage. When the collar is relaxed this velcro strip is resting on your right shoulder, and it is slowly degrading the fabric on my right shoulder. The fabric on my right shoulder is already 'teased' up and is a weak point for water already. I am going to contact warranty to see about a return. I love The North Face products and have used them for years, but this is not OK. The jacket should experience wear from use, not from itself.
