Not what 574 used to be. Quality down, comfort way way down. They managed to make a shoe that is cramped and sloppy feeling at the same time. Add new balance to the timberland category. Took a proven winner and ruined it.

I have worn this style for years, but the last two pairs have developed little pops on the heel with every step. With this most recent pair it started after only one month of wear. One long walk and the right heel starts clicking or popping with every step. Super disappointing.
I like the 574s because I usually have to wear a wide shoe in most brands but this gives me a good fit without. But this quirk has me looking for a new everyday shoe.

Awkwardly sized. Toebox was not constructed well. Too narrow and no appropriate material padding the top of the foot, where the laces dig into your feet. Rear also raised too high, felt like wearing hightop not running/street shoes.

I have had 5 pairs of the 574 all black shoes that I used for work over the years and these last ones had issues with discoloration and it looked like road rash in certain areas. the prior 2 pairs of 574 that I bought from different sellers had the same issues in the same spots. I was 2 for 2 with different sellers and the same defects. on the 3rd try I bought from new balance and guess what? dame defects in the same places.

The sneakers look dull and used. I bought the burgundy color but they look nearly purple and dull. They came as though they were thrown in the box. Considering I bought them directly from New Balance I expected them to look fresh and new. I would've been better off buying from local store.

I really wanted to be able to keep these and ordered 2 sizes - both felt exactly the same and way too narrow. I normally wear a 2EE but these were nowhere near wide enoungh. The toe box was also not tall enough for me which is usually not a problem.

I went to a New Balance store and got fitted for a 10 on their special scanning machine. Ordered a 10 and it was incredibly small. I want to order these again in an 11 but I still haven't been refunded after shipping these back 2 weeks ago. Would love for my money back soon.
Also, am skeptical about ordering online again since the return process is so bad.

Extremely disappointed. I’ve owned close to ten pairs of 574s and never had a pair develop a hole within a month. $80 is a fair chunk of change to throw down the toilet, get your QC in check New Balance.

The shoe arrived and I first noticed how hard the sole of the shoe was. I love NB and have many pairs however this pair felt cheap and the sole did not provide any cushion while walking. Like the all black colour way but I won't buy again.

I believe I would have liked the shoes, but I sent them back. I ordered these shoes from my phone. I hit he size (12) then the width (W), then placed my order. Did not notice when I clicked on order that the size changed to 12 D. When I received email to confirm order I noticed the size had changednfrom what I entered. Your site should have the wide "X ed" to prevent a customer from selecting this option. I called immediately to customer service, but order had already processed. I've been ordering NB for years. Will be selecting 993 next.

Initially I was very happy with this shoe, however, after only ~5 months the internal support has collapsed making the shoe extremely uncomfortable. I work a desk job so I'm not up on my feet a lot and I have separate shoes for exercising or working in the yard. That being the case I would have expected much better durability. My recommendation is to take your money elsewhere and find a better shoe.

warning. Zappos will send D-width instead of E. As soon as I returned them, I got a notification that E-width was back in stock. These are not the width that’s advertised. Zappos needs to do some quality control.
