I needed a waterproof winter coat and decided to try this jacket out. Overall, it was a good purchase. It's definitely waterproof (water beads up on the fabric) and that was the main thing I needed. It runs small! I noticed this from other reviewers and knew I needed to be warm, so I ordered an XL (I'm usually a M-L) and I'm glad I did. I'm 5'7, 150 and the XL gives me room to add a hoodie. This coat isn't very warm on it's own, so that will help. The pockets are really roomy which is great and the liner has pockets, too! It's really windy right now and I'll definitely need another layer if I want to be warm. Quality is great and I'm hoping this coat lasts for years.

Doesn't seem warm enough to wear as a ski jacket. Would be good for a more active winter activity--snowshoeing or xc skiing--or for a more mild winter climate. Nice jacket, though. Flattering, nice color.

This is very comfy and easy to convert to just the shell or just the inner layer. It looks great and quality is high (not surprising!)

I wanted to use this for cold, windy/rainy weather. Seems a bit too thin for that. But this is a nice lightweight jacket for rain and hiking. I would wear this casually.

I wear this as an everyday jacket because I live in a very windy and cold environment. I like that it keeps the wind off me and is comfy. I don't like how easily the snap that holds the fleece on snaps, like every time I put my arms in the sleeves.

I needed to finally replace my old ski jacket. I had that one for over 15 years and hope I love this new one just as much. My upcoming trip to Canada will be a test for its warmth but I live in NC so this layered option is ideal for me.

Great color but the sleeves feel too long for me. Very comfortable and great for cold weather. I originally ordered the white/gray but I was too afraid of getting that stark white collar stained so I opted for the gray/purple color.

Getting a teenager to wear a coat in Ohio is nearly impossible. I told her I would buy her any coat she wanted if she promised to wear it. She chose this one and has made good on her promise. She likes the way it looks and how it fits. She also likes that she can remove the shell.

This product was a good buy however it doesn't keep you that warm. You have to layer up underneath and there isn't much breathing room.

I love it. The color is nice. I like the whole two jacket in one thing. But the sleeves are just a tiny bit too small for the L size.

I don't like the feel of the insert. It's not soft and doesn't feel good against the body.

So far so good. I went out on a limb and bought ponderosa green, when I always get black. To be honest I'm still not too sure about the color, but my husband likes the color. It's not ugly, just different than I'm use too. The blue inner layer is a beautiful light blue, love, love, love. The Jacket is really thin. I thought for the price it would be more insulated. But I was surprised how warm the jacket actually is. I perfer a loose fit and it fits like I expected.

I bought this coat for my wife for Christmas, but gave it to her early due to upstate NY weather. The coat is stylish, but warm and functional. The multi-layer ability allows for one coat to serve many purposes.

I really wanted to love this jacket. I'm hoping it will stretch as I wear it. It fits everywhere except my upper arms. Hopefully it will work it's way out.

My boyfriend has a similar 3 in 1 - his is made from a much tougher material. Mine is softer and less rigid which I like. The fact that it is basically 2 jackets is also great. Easy to separate them and reconnect them. I didn't realize the hood was not removable but I guess that's okay. I really wish the logo was in white as I like the way it stands out on my other north face items.

Saddle up, my cold weather cupcakes- this is a long review. I purchased this jacket for an upcoming trip to Spain, where I will be traversing through a few different climates. I have been wearing the jacket around my home town of Philadelphia, where the weather has been...sporadic (snow and 70 degrees in the same week). Fit- 4/5 This is definitely the sleekest 3-in-1 I have ever owned. So many 3/1 jackets are unnecessarily bulky, but not this one. If you like to wear heavy layers underneath, I would suggest sizing up one. I was in between the XL and the XXL; I chose the XL because I am... a well insulated lady, and do not wear heavy sweaters or the like. One criticism of this jacket, and all NF jackets really- if you are a curvy woman, the bottom of the jacket will not fit around your hips. The XL barely fits around my hips, and usually rides up around my waist. If I were to size up, it would be too big in the arms and chest. Construction- 4/5 The outer shell is a little crinkly, almost like Tyvek. Having gone through several raincoats that were not waterproof, I know firsthand that the "crinkle" sound is a sure sign this baby will actually withstand rain. The inner shell is a lightweight fleece. I wish this layer was a little thicker; it is fine for cool days with no wind, but is not windproof on its own. The zippers are nice and thick and well made. The biggest letdown is the sleeve attachment that holds the inner layer to the outer layer- it is a thin elastic strap with a snap, and almost always comes off when you are taking the jacket off, especially if you have multiple layers underneath. To be honest, I haven't found a 3-in-1 jacket that has really solved this issue. Warmth- 4/5 My personal harassment is that this jacket is good to about 40 degrees, depending on how much you are moving. I have worn it in 35 degree weather where I was running around, and was warm enough. I tend to run warm though, so this may not be the case for you.

Loved this jacket from the second I saw it online. When looking at the sizing chart I wasn't completely sure which size to go with even though I know my measurements. Went with the extra large and it ended up being 6+ inches too big. I probably could have ordered a medium.

This jacket is sized unlike other North Face products we own. It runs big in the stomach area and tight in the shoulders. Tried the next size up and same issue. Flattering from back with contoured design however the extra space in the front is noticeable. Decided to keep it since it was one of a very few three in one jackets that still offers a fleece liner.

It's a North Face jacket, so it's an all around perfect jacket.
