I've been wanting a North Face jacket for some time. Unfortunately, where I live, there are no North Face stores, or stores that carry these products. Also, since I can't find too many reviews about this jacket, I had to really take a risk on the sizing as some reviews said that it was true to size, while others complained that the sizing was too big/too small. I also couldn't find any reviews of people discussing their size/body type in order for me to get a general "feel" of what size I needed to order. So I wound up ordering both a size L and an XL jacket to see which one fit. So hopefully, this helps people out from possibly wasting time in figuring out what size they are. (As this is my first North Face purchase-I can't speak to how the other styles that they offer fit.) Again I hope these details help someone out, but I'm 5'5, and I'm about 190lbs. I'm usually in between a L and an XL(or 14/16) in clothes sizing. I'm a 38D. I've had kids and so I'm sorta pear shaped. The large size, while it "fit"-- it wasn't comfortable to zip up. It was tight in my arms, chest, and abdomen. The XL fit me and I was able to zip it up comfortably. Now, this is another thing to keep in mind-I'm not one who will wear a sweater or anything bulky underneath this jacket. I feel like if I was to wear a sweater underneath this jacket, I wouldn't be able to zip it up at all. The sleeves were a bit long on my arms, but I tend to have that issue with sleeves a lot, so that's not bothersome to me. I feel like had I gone up to even an 2XL, it would be too big but I obviously would be able to wear something bulky underneath. I apologize for the long-winded post lol, but after not finding much information about the sizing, I figured I could help someone out.

I ordered this jacket in size M after I read the comments that said this one runs small, let me tell you something, I'm S size and this one was big for me, so this item doesn't run too small, is true size, cause M was big, not too big but looks better shape in a S, so i don't know if the people that said is small got more weight or what but is TRUE SIZE. so now im gonna have to return my item and get a Small size.

I really love this jacket. It definitely runs small-I had to order 2 sizes up from my usual TNF jacket size, but it fits well with room for layers underneath. Also, I would say this is warmer than the scale says it is.

A good jacket for midwest winters. We hit a lovely cold phase of below zero mornings and this jacket is keeping me warm.

I tried on a few different NF jackets looking for the best fit. This jacket is the winner for my height and torso which is petite.

I bought this for myself. Loved it so much that I bought one for my mother in law as a gift for our trip to Alaska this summer!

I was looking for a Cross Country Skiing jacket that was waterproof, windproof, mid-weight and layerable. This is just the right jacket. The inside hoodie is lightweight. The outside shell is wind and waterproof. I intend to wear them layers separately as well and to use the jacket on cool but not freezing wet days. The cons are that I had to go up 2 sizes from my regular size to achieve a roomy fit. This is not related to the jacket but the Northface customer service is awful. If you call to ask advise about a particular piece of clothing they can't really tell you which kind of jacket would be appropriate for which activity. Also Northface does not have the capability to search their stores for inventory. If you are looking for an item you have to call individual stores to see if they have a product. Finally even if you do find an item at another store they won't charge ship items to customers.

Absolutely loved this jacket! I used it on our trip to Alaska and I always stayed dry when other a would get wet in their jacket. Love, love this jacket. I talked others into getting it too. I did have to buy one size bigger so I was comfy with a sweatshirt underneath.

I was skeptical about ordering the pink because it looked a little bright and my typical go-to is black; however, I was elated to open the package and find the most trendy muted-pink that I can wear with just about anything. I like the thin fleece inner liner that allows just enough room for a light sweater underneath. Although it does not have an inside pocket, the two deep-zippered outer pockets allow ample room for stowe-n-go. Soft...warm...rainproof....excellent product!!

This is worth every single penny! I'm a fulltime RVer in a timy RV, so space and functionality are crucial. It's thin yet powerful and is perfect for our spring/summer/fall adventure this year during our adventures in the Pacific Northwest! I love the strings in the hood that keep the rain off my hair and forehead. It's roomy enough that it fits my dreads inside so they stay dry as well. Amazing purchase!

I bought this coat for a trip to Scotland. It is light enough weight wise, plenty warm with the liner in or taken out. Repelled the rain wonderfully

Great jacket ! I live in Michigan. This time of year it's 40 degrees in the morning and 70 in the afternoon it's warm enough in the morning for sure and changeable for the afternoon just the inner part or the outer The outer piece is also great in the rain!

After reading reviews saying this jacket runs small, I ordered an XXL (normal NF size for me is between a L and XL). I have plenty of space for multiple sweaters underneath, so perfect for layering. An XL probably would have fit better, but seeing I wanted room for layers this will do fine. Light weight, packs small. Great for travel!

My daughter wears and loves jacket. It is warm and not bulky which is great for a teenager on the go. Easy to fit in backpack to pull out when needed.
