I bought this because we recently moved into a mostly tile floor home. I thought tile floors wouldn't be that different from hardwood but I was sure wrong. This seems like a comfortable, well-cushioned shoe but not for folks that are pronators or need real arch support. I knew the Ora is a neutral shoe but I thought I would be able to wear it with orthotics to improve the arch support. But there is too much support on the outside of the shoe for a pronator. An orthotic would not be able to overcome all that support. It made my knees push together. It would be a great shoe for suppinators just not for pronators.

I looked at all Hoka shoes, and the description tells you what type of foot they are designed for (pronator/neutral/supinator). It also tells you about the cushioning, if it's maximum/minimum, if the shoes are flexible. If you normally skip over the description, I strongly suggest reading it for Hoka shoes to make sure you order the right one for your foot. The reason I bought this specific shoe is they are designed for supinators. As such, they would not have a lot of arch support. I find that shoes with good arch support make me walk on the outsides of my feet. This causes pain in my feet, legs and hips. It also makes me unsteady on my feet. I bought these because I am looking for shoes that allow me to place my whole foot on the ground and have better control when I am walking. These shoes do that. Another reason I bought this specific shoe was for the padding. Wearing them is like walking on blocks of foam, and they do a great job of protecting the bottoms of my feet. By relieving the pain in the bottoms of my feet, they also relieve the pain in my hips and legs. However, the elastic around the top makes the shoes slightly uncomfortable. I normally wear a size 6-1/2, I ordered these in an 8 and the elastic is bearable. Unfortunately I want more than 'bearable' and I am returning these.

It’s nothing like the recovery sandal: not as much cushion in the heel; not as much arch support; and definitely not as comfortable. I ordered the recovery sandal to wear around the house this summer to help with my plantar fasciitis and it made a huge difference. I was hoping this shoe could replace the sandal during the winter, but nothing was the same. Very disappointed.

I was going to return these shoes, however I put the on again, and I'm keeping them!!!! They take a while to get use too. I wear orthotics and with these my podiatrist said don't wear orthotics. So to make a long story short, I love them!!!! I 'm wearing them around the house, that is what they are made for. I have many foot problems, bone spurts, hallux limitus, arthritis, and plantar fasciiitis. They are really recovery shoes. I will put them on when I get home to rest my feet and make them feel good. They are true to fit and very comfortable. So I would recommend them to anyone who has foot problems and just needs a comfortable cushiony shoe/slipper to put on when they get home. They are great, you won't regret buying them, totally worth it!!!! Zappos is the best, I don't know what I would do without them.

Fit and size were true, as well as width. These are so very comfortable overall, and even allow me to wear my orthotic inside the shoes, with plenty of room for it, since the shoes are very 'elastic' in construction. The stiff sole helps to prevent the motion of my huge arthritic growth and bone spurs of my big toe joint, thus it is a pain preventative type of shoe. This shoe was highly recommended by my foot doctor, podiatrist. I wear them for the long walks in my neighborhood, for running errands, and for my cardio exercise class. So, they allow me to enjoy my regular lifestyle, since foot surgery isn't an option for me, and even foot surgery would not be a guarantee of stopping the pain of using that joint, according to my podiatrist.
I'd also recommend:
Allegria shoes are also an excellent rigid-soled shoe that work well for people with bone spurs.

Im glad I didnt downsize in these shoes. I bought my normal size 8 and they fit perfectly. I love the platform snd they provide excellent arch support. I see myself walking in these and wearing these at home. Its also true to its coral color.

I wanted to like this recovery shoe as it was recommended by my podiatrist to wear around the house only. It did not work for me. I wear a 10 and the 10 was too small all the way around...width and length. If I didn't have so many foot problems I would probably have recommended them. If you just have tired feet at the end of the day and you do not require orthotics in shoes, these are for you. If you have hallux limitus or bone spurs and sesamoid problems then don't bother!!!!! Had to return them unfortunately. Thank goodness for Zappos and their excellent return policy. I really don't know what I would do without them. They are the best.

I have Parkinson' Disease and walking has been an ongoing struggle. So far, I've comfortably walked 6000 to 7000 steps 4 days in a row! I'm preparing for a lot of walking on an upcoming Hawaii cruise. I believe, if I keep walking the 6000 to 7000 steps every other day, I'll be ready for our vacation!

I really wanted to love these. I have Hokas for the gym and love them. I needed something for when I'm standing in the kitchen, not walking around much, but weren't slippers. I have a pair of OOfos mules, and I go "ahhhhh" every time I put them on, but being a plastic composite, they do make my feet sweat so they're only good for short periods of time, even though they are sooooooo comfortable. So I decided to try the Hoka's Ora Recovery shoes. I didn't find the toe box wide enough for comfort, and my heel slipped out of them as well. So it was like they were too small in one way and too large in another. I found myself thinking that they really felt like a pair of gym shoes, without the laces. I already wear gym shoes when moving around the house, so I'm covered there. I returned them because they didn't fill a need. They are expensive as well, but I would have kept them had they been really comfortable, supportive slip-ons.

I have plantar fascitis and these are heaven on my feet! All I purchase sneaker-wise is Hoka. These are my "house shoes". I have to have a shoe to support my feet all day and didn't want a lace up for around the house. I wear them with or without socks. And actually just bought my son his first pair of lace up Hokas...

After my long runs I use the Ora recovery to help soothe my feet and they work !! They are amazing !! Now I don't have to use my Arahi 4 to help with my recovery . I use the Gaviato 2 to run in , Arahi4 as recovery . The Ora is my new go too shoe. I only purchased the black pair however will soon purchase the other colours .. it's that amazing and my feet are happy

I was diagnosed with capsulitis, which was so painful I could barely walk. I tried everything my doctor suggested, with little improvement. Then I started wearing these babies and two months later my capsulitis is almost entirely gone. Zero pain, just lingering stiffness. These shoes literally made walking and hiking possible again for me. Total godsend.

I use these as house "slippers". They are extremely comfortable. They are now available in black, the color I really wanted to begin with, so I'm sending for a second pair.

My orthopedic doctor recommended a shoe with a "rocker" style soul. I ordered several similar styles from different manufacturers. This model fit extremely well and is very comfortable. Most likely I will shop for other Hoka One shoes. I'm a solid size 10 narrow. This 11 was a good fit. I purchased a larger size based on others reviews. Some may find the "lip" at the top of the shoe which keeps the ankle in place to be uncomfortable. I'm sensitive to that issue but i wasn't bothered by that. I tried with orthotics but the instep in the Hoka was too high.

Size ordered 8 M. I like everything but the shoe opening. The shoe opening is tight. So, if I ever were to have swollen ankles I could never wear this shoe. As it is, there is an indentation left on my ankles from the edge of the opening. For the life of me I cannot understand why the designers of this shoe could not leave the opening a bit wider or make the edging more stretchy. This is my 3rd pair of Hoka shoes. I only wish that they would make a rocker shoe that can be sipped on and one with no shoelaces. I need this type of sole due to arthritis in my toe joints. They were recommended by my foot doctor and they do make walking much easier.

I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts, many times I hardly get to sit at all and my feet hurt so bad there are days I can hardly walk. I have tried so many different types of shoes and spent hundreds trying to get relief. Between the recovery slip on, that I can where at work, and the recovery sandles, that I wear around the house MY FEET DO NOT HURT AT ALL ANYMORE!!! And the price is reasonable. I don't know what is different about these 2 shoes from other types but I can't express enough how thankful I am! (At first they feel too big due to the type of material but you get used to it)

I love these shoes but I ordered the same size as I wear in my other Hoka shoes and these are way bigger but too much of a hassle and possible waste of $ to send back and hope the smaller size isn't too small....so I kept them

While the shoe seems well made, the heel isn't as cushioned and comfortable as the slide. I have plantar fasciitis and need all the support and softness possible. I wore them on a relatively walk and my heels hurt before I reached my destination. I did appreciate the shoes being available in 10.5.

I was disappointed with these shoes. I wear Hoka One One Stinson shoes all the time. The Stinsons were recommended by my podiatrist after foot surgery and a one year recovery. They are the only shoes I can wear on a regular basis. But, I needed a "house shoe," and ordered the Oras. The first pair I ordered in the same size as my Stinsons, size 8. They were huge! It took a very long time for the exchange process, but I eventually received a size 7. They aren't comfortable, and I wear them with the back down because the heal elastic is uncomfortable. They feel synthetic and not good on bare fee.

So I was not excited about this item. I almost always wear a size 8. Item was a size too big.. you were kind enough to switch and send send a size 7 to me prior to receiving the size 8 in return. So I had purchased a pair for another family member and love it. You change the material. It is very loose. My foot doesn't stay in the shoe when I walk. Kind of an odd shoe. I suggest changing it back to the old Style.

I use these shoes around the house, in the yard, and out and about. They have put a spring in the step of this older gal, and I literally bounce about my business in them.
