I bought these pants to climb Mt. rainier this summer. I haven't worn them yet on a hike, but they feel very high quality.

I got these over 2 years ago, they're still going strong. I've washed them and they haven't degraded. They are great for long rain showers with strong winds or great to wear with strong cold winds. Really cozy with Rho pant underneath. I was thinking that they wouldn't have the durability of the AR pant but I'm happily wrong. They do fit a bit large but that helps to put over jeans, sweat or tactical pants.

Bought these last year, and they are good for all wet conditions! I like the clip in this inside at the bottom to hook to your boots. Helps keep feet dry!

These are used for backpacking when the weather is supposed to turn south (or when it isnt supposed to but does anyway). They stow well and the full length zipper allows you to put it on over your shoes/boots quickly. Slightly constricting in the crotch area but maybe I'm just flattering myself. I've found these very useful on the trail.

I bought them this winter fo hiking/snowshoeing in the PNW wet season. It was a toss up between these and the Zeta - but based on the reviews chose these for 2 reasons. I want to be able to throw these on top of whatever I am wearing and the narrow legs of the Zeta may not make the work so well. Also, the 2 side zippers is key for easier on/off for me over bulky clothing. I ordered L, based on the size chart, and is my usual size, but I would say these run a bit big. The hip/butt area is quite roomy. They are a bit noisy with the swishing sound too, but that is true of most Gortex I think. All in all, a good purchase.

I already had a pair of Beta AR pants but wanted something lighter for the summer and when weight was an issue. The long version are the longest I have found in all manufacturers and so give the best fit for me (tall and slim). These are greatfor when I am working in the mountains offering full protection whatever the season.

I bought them for late fall /winter biking but ended up using them even for skiing. Comfy, durable and light.

I hesitated to buy these, as they seemed expensive, but I'm so glad I did. These pants are lightweight, made of a tough but smooth material, very packable, good for rain and snow. Great fit, very comfortable. I love the thoughtful features like the zippers at waist and ankle for easy pulling and off, and the tabs to tighten the waist. Bought a pair for my husband and daughter as well. We will be hiking and sledding and skiing in these for years!

Having always worn Mountain Equipment goretex I recently swapped my set up to the Arcteryx Beta SL line and I couldn't be happier.
I just love the practicality of these pants. The flat front is flattering, the articulation is perfect and the drop seat is genius. The adjustable waist is easy to use, and allows for a variety of trousers/undergarments to be worn.
Having worn bibbed waterproofs, I am seriously loving the ease of bathroom breaks in these pants!!
I would have preferred external tabs to cuff the bottom of them rather than the internal drawcords, but I'm sure I'll get used to them.
I do miss having a thigh pocket, that's the only real negative I can aim at these pants.

I have had a pair of these for 4 years now. Recently upgraded this year. Without question protection from the elements (all of them). And burly. I have pushed through miles of bear trails and dense off trail up here in alaska while it was 40 degrees F and raining on multiple occasions. Dry and without a problem. Soggy tundra, dry cold snow, wet snow, glacial butt slide, or just sitting in soaked moss while dinner cooks. Bone dry. I prefer these over the zeta for rain simply because of the temperatures up here in Alaska. It's normally cold enough to have enough clothes on that a tapered leg pant will be a problem. Truthfully the previous design of the partial leg zip is what I prefer but this full leg zip works great. I was afraid the little buckles on the hips would kill under a waist belt of a backpack but hasn't been to bad. But a load better design than bulky Velcro at the full zip I can tell you that. For size reference: I am 167 pounds and 5'11" with a 31 inch waist. My general frame you might call "narrow" or like your typical rock climber build. I got the medium pants and they work just fine. I Have the buckles on the tightest setting possible most of the time but they fit. Several trips where I pretty much live in these pants. I have plenty of friends with more budget conscious shell pants and they are happy but they typically need constant care, patching, and consideration of things like "if I sit there I'll get wet." I just go and stay dry. I mean if you fall on a sharp rock they will rip. But dang what doesn't damage them is very impressive.

Last winter I travelled through South America during the rain season. I was worried about being socking wet and not able to explore Machu Pichu comfortably. So I happy I geared up with the Arctreryx Gortex products! I love this pants. Great fit, comfortable, stylish and are functional in multi weather condition.

Very well designed over pants for mountaineering and ski touring. Full side zips, fly, and lace hooks all add up to the perfect weather protection that fits easily and light in your pack.

Arc'teryx hit it out of the park with these pants. To make a product that is so light weight and packable, yet so durable is truly impressive. I have completely abused these pants for two seasons and they continue to come back for more. Had I bought these before my Beta AR's I might now own only one pair of Gore-Tex pants. I've ice climbed, skied, gone sledding, hiked, snowshoed and even whitewater canoed, in them.
The fit is excellent! They are not only durable, but fit so well that you will forget you are wearing them. Much of this is due to the excellent articulation of the knees.
Zippers, etc are quality made and function perfectly.
They have been completely waterproof and breath as well as you can expect.
I am 6'-2" tall and weigh 185 lbs with a 34 inch inseam. They do not have a loose fit, but are in no way restrictive. The length is perfect.
You simply cannot go wrong with these pants!

I love these pants! I'm not sure which pants some mentioned as being hard to put on over boots, as the legs zip open completely- top to bottom. I unzip them completely, close the belt around my waist and then zip the legs shut when putting them on. They fit really well and move easily. I size just a tad up so go over leggings for skiing, shorts for running and pants for mountaineering. My boyfriend loves how they look, too. ;)
I've used them year round boarding, wet spring skiing, rainy season hiking and running as well as ice climbing where they can get some friction & they've never let me down and have lasted through two hard years with no blowouts or holes. I always have them in my pack regardless, just in case. Love them!

This pant is ideal for hiking/ rain showers/ overall weather protection. The full length zips make it easy to pull on and off, and allow for great ventilation. These pants are a steal at the price. I've used pants from a couple competitors which still cost approximately two hundred dollars, and don't even come within a fraction of the quality the Beta SL offers.

Amazing pants! Incredible durability and waterproofing, extra long boot zip, cinch waist for easy and quick on and off. They are slightly baggy and not a trim fit like many Arc'teryx products, but it doesn't bother me, and I trust the designers got it right since it promotes quickly getting the pants on over other layers. If I could make one tiny tweak it would be to allow the waist to cinch a little tighter. I am 6' 4", 189 lbs, and the large tall work well.
