As an older woman with wide feet and high arches, I sometimes have trouble finding shoes that fit. I bought the men's size maximum width and I use arch supports. The shoes fit with the arch support and they are so comfortable, it is like walking on clouds.

A good shoe for walking. It provides very good support and I think the sole will be long wearing. It is a good value for the price. I have 2 pairs of the Contend 5's. I think an improvement would be to add more cushion in the forefoot area.

I've been running for 11 years and I have paid the price for not running in ASICS. My feet hurt constantly in any other brand. Keep making great shoes so I can keep running!

The GEL-Contend 5 is a nice economy shoe, but I can't seem to get the insole out of the shoe to put in an orthotic.

The bottom of the heal wears out to fast from everyday running. Otherwise, it's a very comfortable shoe and I love the style. This is my third pair. The price is just right!

I'm a pretty severe under pronator and these shoes fit me well right out of the box. Not the lightest, but they look great and keep my feet happy.

These shoes are very similar to the previous pair I bought 5 years ago. They are comfortable and functional, with enough style to wear them almost anywhere. It was extremely helpful to order them online.

Liked the shoe’s appearance. Was trying to replace similar Gel-Exalt 3s and they looked almost same. But the tow box was tighter and heel felt looser so I sent back. Zappos was great as always.

I prefer the toe design of the Gel Contend 4--a stitched "border" of man-made materials and mesh--which seems like it might hold up a little better. The toe on the Gel 5 is all mesh. Only time will tell, I guess.

i am a woman whose feet are just odd enough that the length and associated wider width of men’s shoes fit my feet perfectly! these shoes are comfortable and have great cushion for my medium length runs...4-6 miles. they were comfortable out of the box. i would recommend these!

This is a review for the grey and white version of the Asics GEL-Contend® 5.
General: These are excellent runners for the price. They are lightweight, comfortable, provide ample cushionin and have good roll characteristics. The one caveat that I have is that they are a bit wide visually. They also look fantastic! I actually got a compliment on them which was quite unexpected!
Performance: Some runners are not good for walking and/or jogging I find these to be okay for the full spectrum. I usually walk, then jog then full sprint during my workouts and the GEL-Contend® 5 seems to do just fine. I do notice that when in full sprint, I can occasionally meander off my straight line. I don't know if that's because of the way I run or my balance but it seems to happen the most with these shoes. I also use them on the stair climber and they work best (for me) at level 10+. That's when the cushioning is really appreciated.
