This shoe is comfortable, great looking, affordable & suitable for shorter trail running without serious hills. The tread is its outstanding performance feature, but it needs additional support technology for running challenging trails. On roads and tracks it performs quite well, but it is advertised as a trail shoe, not a running shoe.

I tried these against another pair of trail runners. The traction is pretty good. Not overly aggressive, but good for both trails and road running. Good ventilation as well. Lot's of stitched areas which I could see causing some hot spots on longer runs. Also have a lot of room in the toe box. My issue was with the under foot cushioning. It was okay in the heel, but much stiffer in the forefoot. Make for some harder landings, and I could often feel rocks and sticks under foot when running trails. I ended up going with another shoe, but these were a close second.

I just want to amend the review I was just offered to provide, where I noted them as "too small"--not the full story, as the size is fine/perfect, they're just a bit narrower than I prefer in my shoes...overall, I'm quite pleased, my foot is just a bit wider than normal, and these seemed to be a bit more narrow than what I'm accustomed too...I'm sure they'll "break-in" just fine...and now you know, the rest of the story...CHEERS!

Both my sons wear a 12 and one son can wear narrow depending on the shoe. Both of them felt this shoe fit narrowly. Otherwise it was a good shoe and they would have kept it.

I'm happy with my purchase. Here are a couple of observations: Zappos suggested I get a size 10, but based on others' reviews, I went with a 10.5 and was glad I did. I have always thought of myself as a size 10, but I have shoes ranging from size 9-11 depending on the manufacturer. I bought these in the summer and observed that they seem less breathable (warmer) than some other shoes I've owned, but this is not a huge disappointment for me. Otherwise they are comfortable and have good support.

Great looking shoe, the length was good but the width was to narrow. I would have kept the shoe if It was available in a wider width.
I'd also recommend:
Probably back to Nike

Very good cushioning, nicely fitting upper. However, the shoe has zero arch support - as in there is no sole under the arch, period. The sole takes a dramatic cut in at that area of the foot. I do not have especially wide feet and this is still a problem for me. For that, I couldn't recommend this shoe for anything but casual use unless you have really high arches.

Third pair, tough and comfortable. I regularly walk trails in the Sonoran desert of southern Arizona typically 8-10 miles weekly. The sonomas hold up very well and usually last around 1 1/2 to 2 years with the use I give them.

Really liked the sneaker, but could not believe how fast the soles wore out. I don't wear these a lot, mostly walking on weekend in the summer, and I am not an outside runner... Other than that, loved the looks and comfort.

Quality is questionable! My pair torn in just one month and I had to claim warranty. ASICS customer service is really great and I received new pair but show quality is not acceptable

First the shoes did not arrive in their original box, and felt like they had been previously returned. The inner sole was raised along the arch, and there was a gap, feeling uncomfortable when standing. Didn't care for the design, too busy.

Solid shoes, but they run a little more narrow than other Asics I’ve bought, which is why I rated lower than I normally would. Well made shoe with good support and style, just a bit too narrow and thus not as comfortable as I imagine this pair could be and Asics usually are.

I bought both regular and wide widths, and had to return both of them. I am not sure what type of customer they are targeting here, but my athletic friends and I do not have feet that narrow. No one wants their shoes to strangle their feet. Further, these are definitely on the cheaper end of Asics in terms of construction.

I am returning these shoes because they dig into the inside of my ankles kind of painfully. Not sure why I didn't have this problem with other asics...

Horrible. Hurt my lower back so bad. I must have missed the part where it said it was for pronators which I am not. I love Asics but these definitely were not my favorite.

Product details claims following: "As a stability shoe, the GEL-SONOMA 4 model is recommended for runners whose feet tend to roll inwards - this is sometimes known as overpronation" & then, Pronation part claims: Sonoma 4 are Underpronation and Neutral and High arch I got these, and im thinking about new Asics, but why would I buy a product with two oposite specification????
