Something has definitely changed with ASICS over the last year or two. My whole family of 5 was ASICS fans and always bought them each year but as of late their shoes are uncomfortable and hard feeling. They are like the opposite of what you would expect out of high quality running shoe. Our last purchases we switched over to Brooks and Nike and feel overall they are much better shoe and are very soft and comfortable in the cushioning areas of tongue, collar and foot bed. I tried the ASICS again this week when they finally came out with a decent color pattern in a wide with Gel-Nimbus 21. I wore them for a day and struggled to even leave them on just sitting let alone walking around in them. I ordered the wide and they were still tight in the heel and mid section along with the foot bed felt hard and no cushioning whatsoever. Disappointing as I actually loved the colors of the black and lemon yellow style which is rare with ASICS. Usually you sacrifice looks and colors for knowing you have a comfortable shoe but now the comfort and performance is gone as well so not much left to make us want to buy ASICS. We will continue buying Brooks and Nike it looks like.

I really like the ASICS but remember , they run small. I normally would get a 10.5 EE. So I get an 11 EEEE and they fit good.

I can honestly say that this is one of the best pair of shoes I've ever worn. Keep in mind, Asics delivers a range of shoe structure moldings for specific athletic disciplines. As a health and fitness coach, I enjoy track and weightlifting. These shoes are perfect for both. The wide base provides more floor contact than any iteration I've owned. It is impossible to roll your ankle and injure yourself in these. I feel extremely stable on any surface or under any weight. I knew the moment I slipped my foot inside - the hunt is over! Like a fine pair of custom boots, there is a suction sound when inserting the heel. I can tell that a lot of development and research went into these shoes. It is possible that these shoes may be fully orthopedic. I'm not saying these shoes are right for everyone. However, I couldn't be happier. I am 5' 10" 170 lbs and very athletic. I hope Asics makes more shoes that showcase the best parts of these.

I was so excited to get my new pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus 21s...until I put them on and walked and jogged around a bit. I've been a loyal Nimbus runner for the past 8 years. I was able to get through the last major change they made by ordering a wider size, but the stiff sole in this edition is unbearable to me. The cloud-like cushion of previous models has completely gone away, and these just feel cheap. On the positive side, they are very lightweight, stable, look great, and fit wonderfully (once you order the right size - I have a normal-width, size 11.5 foot but order a 12EE in these). I have dress shoes more comfortable than these 21s, and now I've got to dig my previous models out of the trash until my Mizuno Wave Sky 2's show up...gonna give them a try.

Have under pronation (supination) which always presents a challenge finds comfortable shoes that fit. This is one of the shoes that is very good and comfortable in correcting under pronation.
Also have feet that have spread with age. The wide size has room and is accommodating with good space in the toe box. Did have to go a half size. Overall an excellent and comfortable shoe.

Been purchasing ASICS running shoes for a while now. Recent shoe purchase (GEL-Nimbus 21) fell a little short of expectations. Usually wear 11.5, ordered size 12-4E based on other reviews, fit well both in length and width; however, sole cushioning was too stiff. Seems to lack cushioning I'm used to in high-end Nimbus 21 model. Sending back. Will try different model or brand. Zappos selection and service is best I've experienced.

I've owned a number of pairs of the Nimbus lineup, simply because of the comfort- but specifically for the supination correction that's inherent to the shoe design.
This shoe is excellent- especially now, since I injured my Achilles tendon (now have tendinitis...great) and thankfully, with the heel to toe drop, the show alleviates the stress on the tendon for healing.
I will only add that- with the supination correction that the shoe provides, the designers/engineers of the product should allow this correction to follow through the entire shoe, all the way to to the forefront of the foot. When walking in the shoe, it feels like the distal part of the foot kind of leans over to the distal side- meaning that there is a lack of support there too (just minimal support needed there to fully keep foot in line).
I had tried on both this shoe, the Nimbus 20 and the Brooks Ghost 11's and this Asics shoe was was easily the winner for me.

This is my sons second pair. When he grew out of the first pair he wanted another. They held up well through camps and everyday play. I even threw them in the wash a couple times.

Using the shoe for daily wear (not running). The shoe is very comfortable. Suffered from Plantar Faciitis in the past, but wearing their pair and its predecessor (Nimbus-20) , in combination with exercises, have helped solve that problem for me. I preferred the style of the Nimbus-20, but this one looks good too.

Asics makes a great shoe, unfortunately the insole is not so great. I replaced it immediately with a Protalus insert and what a difference. You'd think for $150 they would put a nice comfortable insole in the shoe. I stand on my feet all day, these shoes should hold up nicely to the pressure of the Operating Room.

Not sure what's going on with ASICS. I've been wearing ASICS running shoes for about 40 years (dozens of pairs) and always wear an 11-1/2 and sometimes a 12 but always in medium width. I ordered the Nimbus 21 in a 12 medium and they were tight in toe box. I exchanged them for 12 extra wide which seemed fine until I started wearing them and right shoe is now again too tight in the toe box. Apparently I need a 12-1/2 extra wide or maybe a double extra wide. Other than fit the shoes have good cushioning, stability and structure and IMHO are nice looking. I wear them for walking as I stopped running about 10 years ago but I do walk 4 to 5 miles/day in them. I also use custom orthotics obtained through a podiatrist but they've been a constant in my ASICS for the last several pairs.

I was very disappointed by the forefoot of this shoe. When walking it felt like I was in ski boots... Need the large drop for Achilles tendinitis, but ended up sending them back and purchasing a second pair of Brooks Ghost 12...

Very comfortable running shoe when you're looking for a high-drop model with good cushioning. It does quite well on both paved and dirt trails.

Over the last 5 years, I had purchased 14 pairs of Acics Gel-Nimbus because of its comfort over other brands. It has been a godsend for my arthritis and has allowed me to remain active and competitive. One thing I noticed over the recent releases is that sizing has changed. Both length and width has become smaller that required me to order a half size larger and will go up a full size next time plus go to a wide also to get the same fit. Colors/design remain excellent.

I'm actually returning to buy the nimbus 20. The 20 has better arch support, lots better cushioning, and better style and I save $30

Very disappointed in the change between previous models and the "21". The "cushiony" comfort that used to be the hallmark of this shoe is gone. I'm very disappointed, but will be looking for stock of older "editions" before my current shoes are shot. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD SHOES!!!

These shoes were replacements for gel-nimbus pairs that I bought three years ago. Those shoes were very cushioned and comfortable. these new versions are hard, and the ball s of my feet ache after walking in these shoes all day around the office. As for arch support, here is none. I have high arches, but can;t feel anything in these - also very unlike the two previous pairs I had. The only shoes harder than these on the footbed are the gel-excite 6's that I tried. I guess I'll have to move on to some other shoe brand, like I did after finding ASICS when New Balance redesigned good shoes into bad ones.

Nimbus was my go to for years....until the 18 model year. Too narrow and not as cushiony as previous models. Tried every year since with the same results. I now wear Brooks. Wake up ASICS!!!

The uppers are very narrow in the ball of the foot while the gleaming white sole is perhaps a half inch or more wider on either side of the sole. Definitely not a 2E and perhaps more of a C.

I've always loved the Nimbus but have not bought any for years since I bought several the last time I purchased these. I've tried two sizes and both shoes are terribly uncomfortable in the toe box. I got them for a very good price so I should not whine but for me these are unwearable. I'll keep them around for if I ever get frostbite but that's unlikely since I live in California.

I used to love ASICS. In fact, I would say the gel nimbus 2016 at one point was my favorite shoes in my 40 years of life. Then, ASICS changed everything! These shoes are at least 2 sizes too small and a full size too narrow. It’s actually ridiculous. I will no longer even attempt to buy ASICS shoes. I have no problem spending 150 bucks on shoes if they’re great, but in my opinion, ASICS has ruined every shoe they now make. I’ve tried the nimbus, cumulus over the past 5 years hoping they would revert back to the days when they fit, but apparently those days are over. Zappos happily refunded me, but it’s sad they had to!
