If the inner soul had more cushion It would raise the comfort level also if you were to add air bags on the bottom of the sneaker it would help to absorb some of the shock

Been wearing 608's for years, this was my first V5 version. Don't know if the last used by New Balance changed or the material stretched, but the right foot is too wide after a week of wear. Where the tongue bottom connects to the shoe, the material bunches when I tie the laces.

Attempted to buy tennis shoes. But the style and the bottom of the shoes I tried don't seem to be a good fit for tennis. Too bad Zappos doesn't really carry tennis shoes that fit my size and width.

the inside of the shoe under the tongue is really rough construction -- almost painful

These shoes have been super comfortable but I just noticed a hole wore through and now the inside of my shoe is coming apart. I have never ran through a pair of shoes so quickly.

They’re okay. Functional, which is what they’re designed for. Still breaking in, but seem to be cut a little smaller than last version.

Purchased NB 9 wide in a different style last year, made in the USA, and they fit great and are very comfortable. I was looking for a leather athletic shoe for the winter months. Ordered the 9 wide in this style and the length was fine, but the toe area really isn't wide, not even close. Very disappointed and sent them back. Seems there is no consistency in the NB shoes. Compared the 2 different styles and there is a big difference in width. Wide should be wide!

I agree with the other commenters who say the shape has changed. I have been wearing a version of this shoe for many years, but the toe box on this one felt narrower and it just created a situation where it caused pain in my sole. I had to return them.

I purchased these shoes to replace a pair of shoes from 6 months earlier. I have always liked the quality of New Balance shoes over the years. My last pair of shoes was the exception, I only wear them to walk in and they began to to tear right above the rubber sole seam, soon afterwards the souls became detached from the shoes. This happened on both shoes although the left shoe was worse. I continued to try to wear them but before they were 6 months old they were completely separating and falling apart, The shoes still looked almost new but I could no longer wear them. It was like they hardly put any adhesive on the soul of the shoe. I was very disappointed because they shouldn't have fallen apart. I would expect this in a less expensive brand but not New Balance. I decided to give them one more chance and I hope it was a fluke.

Sad that the New Balance quality is just not there any more. The foot bed broke down under one heel in this pair where I had to toss them. I have two new pairs and both have started to come apart under the ball of the foot in under one month of wearing. My sister in law has given up on New Balance as well. Frustrating as these have been my day in day out shoes for close to fifteen years.

Been wearing the 517s. The 608 is Not even close to as good. Of a shoe. Couldn't find the 517 in my size so I took a shot! Oh well

There is less room in the toe box - Ive owned and loved previous versions of the 608, but in this one (same size) my big toe hits the tip of the shoe (note - I wear orthotics, which wasnt a problem with previous 608s). The heel area is also looser, so that my heel comes out of the shoe when I walk. I will try a different style and hope for a better fit.

Almost the same shoe I have been purchasing for the last 25 yrs. This pair is having a long break-in period. Most of the past shoes had almost no break-in needed.

I like the shoes, however when I wear them with regular socks they are tight, so I have to wear thin socks. I should have gone a half size bigger.

Great value for this shoe, but mine were too small so I had to return them. Else I would've given it 4 stars for comfort.

The right was fabulous but the left shoe has something going on with the stitching under the tongue. If I had kept them it would have caused a blister. The return process was ok. Wasn't the easiest to navigate, but I figured it out.

After 5 months the sole delaminated from the shoe. Another pair had the same problem after about 7 months

I have bought these shoes several times and they feel great. However this time the right shoe seems narrower. It hurts my right foot if I wear them very long. I hope they stretch out so they won't hurt my foot when I wear them.

Let me start by saying that I used to work retail and to say the New Balance 608's are Legendary still wouldn't quite do this shoe it's justice. However, they really messed up with this v5 it's narrower, leather less, harder, and not as durable. The v4 was superior in every measurable way. These are still alright shoes but for someone who has worn "Black New Balance shoes" since 2002 for work, I've switched brands and now prefer Asics.
I'd also recommend:
Asics, Skechers

The way these are stitched, they are not comfortable inside by bunion and big toe. Buy wider than you expect and it may help with problem.
