These fit perfectly and are just what I needed as a wilderness guide in the winter. I have to have access to my fingers to help people! I would recommend them for mostly dry, cold conditions.

i have absolutely no complaints, sizing was good for me. the usage of magnets is very important if you want to minimalize your sound production while hunting or bird watching, very nice glove.

Fabric between outer and inner glove could be sewn together so inner fabric doesn't come out as much with hand when it is removed. I usually wear a medium, but with the sizing of these gloves probably could have gotten a small (the thumbs are pretty long).

The gloves are super well made. Comfortable and warm. My only critiques would be the mitt part is a little small. When the mitt is my fingers are somewhat uncomfortably squished in. The other being placement of the magnets or perhaps a stronger magnet to hold the mitt back. Would buy again for sure though.

Great construction and a really warm glove. But I did find the mitt part a little small with not a lot of wiggle room for the fingers.

Seem very well constructed but the leather palm doesn't seem like it will hold up to a lot of abuse. I bought these for casual hiking and your everyday commute so they will be definitely hold up for my needs. The size seems a bit big for my hands but I think if I went a size smaller they would be too small. (I was unlucky and fell right in that size between Medium and Large)

This mitt/glove is very nice on the inside, the magnets work great and they are overall very warm. I wear an XL and the width of the glove is perfect, the Large would have been too tight, the thumb is a wee bit long, as is the pinky finger. The pinky is easily solved by rolling the material back a 1/2", the thumb i just deal with. They are bulky in the palm but not to any detriment and that extra room allows for glove liners if necessary, which is pretty much always the case with me. So far so good.

The gloves are comfortable and functional. They seems to be holding up well and I wear them most days. The outside of the glove by the pinky finger has extra fabric and I find myself constantly adjusting them so that my pinky actually sticks out.

Great glove quality and warmth for cool to cold temps. I'm 5'7" and of athletic build by nature so my hands follow suit, thus, my fingers are a bit short in the mitts but the hand fits well. If I size down to fit the fingers, the hand would then be squeezed. Understandable. Still, great OR product as always!

These are the warmest gloves I've found that afford significant dexterity. The magnet latch for the mitten is brilliant because it is quick, quiet, and reliable. In addition general outdoor chores, my particular need is for biking in winter. With the mittens on, I can confidently control the bike and keep my hands warm. For those times when I need to operate the phone or GPS with my fingers, I can instantly flip the mitten back and forth minimizing the chill to said fingers. BUT the durability is a disappointment. The thumbs have worn through and the palm stitching has failed in short order. All that said, fearing these gloves would be discontinued and that there is no competition, I bought 2 more pairs so I'll have good glove for a couple more winters.

These are great gloves that I would use for basic every day tasks in the cold, probably wouldn't hold up very long for work or physical tasks. I typically wear a large in OR gloves but these were a bit large and I had to send them back. Wish I would have gone a size down.

These are my first entry to fingerless gloves and I've been happy with them. My only complaint so far is the stitching on my gloves suede pad was off a little. These were around $16 on sale which is hard to beat.

My second pair of Lost Coast Mitts for me, great for cold weather chores, pop back the mitten flap and snap a photo.

I work outside and need to use my fingers. I'm actually excited to wear these this winter. Very thick without being bulky and micro-fleece lined. I love that they have a magnet for the mitten flap. My old pair had velcro and I was always fumbling with the flap or using my teeth. The magnet will make things easier. I only wish these had a flap and a grip for the thumb. If they don't work out for me on the job I'll still get lots of use out of them on a everyday basis this winter.

This is my 3rd pair of lost coast mitts. I really love the feel and comfort of these mitts, and they are great in the cold Minneapolis winters. Additionally, having the ability to flip the mitten part up and have access to my fingers is nice when I'm out walking my dogs. The reason I give them 4 stars is because their durability is a bit lacking, and this newest pair does not fit as well as my former pairs (same size, so I'm thinking they changed the cuts here or the steel blue fits differently than grey for some reason). Regarding durability, I tend to get about 1 to 1.5 winters out of these before a hole inevitably wears in the thumb. I don't wear these for strenuous activity like shoveling or snowboarding, or anything like that. I'm primarily using them when out walking my dogs, or walking to and from neighborhood bars. With that type of use, I would expect way more life out of these. That said, the warranty and return process is easy and will keep me coming back to these as they ARE my favorite winter gloves and I haven't been able to find anything with the warmth and versatility of these. I'll just have to hope this newest pair is a bit more durable than my last two!

I use these gloves while working in the field on a northern oceanic island in the winter. The gloves are very warm perhaps a little too bulky but I like them. The mitt sometimes disconnects from the glove (via magnet). I have used the gloves for about a week so far and I am happy.

This is my go-to glove for running around our little mountain kingdom. It is excellent for that, warm, and looks great. The main issue I had with it is that the thumb is not reinforced, so it wears our quickly. I think I had it for a season before I had to start a regular repair regime. Since I wear/repair/upcycle all my gear, I decided to put extra leather reinforcement on the thumb now. It does not look as great as the OR palm, but at least I don't have to mend it every week. I think it should come that way from the factory.

Regular use every day from fall to spring, suburbanite use to and from work, domestic duties, walking, hiking, etc. Absolutely great gloves that allow you to perform tedious items without having to take the entire glove off in cold conditions. Keeping hands and gloves warm and no need to look for temporary place to put a pair that you would have take entirely off. The Achilles Heel though is the lack of palm covering up to under the thumb! That's the spot that wears out quickly while the rest of the glove is still in perfect condition.

Everyday use in the cold from fall to spring. Extremely handy for being dexterous to manipulate small items like keys, vehicle controls, getting items out of coat pockets, etc, without having to take entire gloves off, and having to get your hands cold again or dropping you gloves on the cold wet ground or misplacing them. Excellent with a shell over it for active outdoor cold weather pursuits, snow boarding, hiking, ice fishing, camping - especially while in a sleeping bag at night

I bought these to wear over thin liner gloves.
I had the same type of mitten, but a cheaper version, in size medium which was a tight fit, so I ordered a large. Wore the Lost Coast Fingerless Mitts on two hikes. They fit like mediums, but these are very warm unlike the ones they replaced. While hiking the pinky would come out of the mittens while using the hiking poles.
Used them in temps around 10 degrees, windy and the last hike had wind gusts up to about 30 mph.

Perfect for casual walks, especially if you have a dog and might need your fingers to clip or feed treats.
Wouldn't use in rain or heavy snow without some sort of shell.
Good design and hope they last a long time.
Very comfortable and warm.

I ordered these online and was so pleasantly surprised to find the inside of the mitten to be lined with wool. Very comfy and toasty. The little magnet to hold the mitten in place when flipped back is wonderful. I did notice that the magnet hurt a bit the back of my fingers a bit when the mitten was covering my fingers and I happened to slam my hand down on a table, but not counting against the gloves for that. The one feature I really wish these had, and would warrant me giving 5 stars, is a thumb flap so that I could actually fully grip something with all fingers. I can see some design challenges with trying to do that, but nevertheless, it is a bummer to not have that functionality when it's present on all the other fingers. The other element that would be nice are attachment loops so you could clip them to a carabiner or something if you want to take them off for a bit and not have to stuff them in a jacket pocket, hold them under your arms, or put them on the ground. Overall, FAR superior to a previous pair of mitten gloves I had had.

Like Kenneth, I have used these for about four months now, which means all of the 2014 winter. I have not encountered the magnet problem that he mentions though.
Pros:
- Warm, even when damp/wet.
- Comfortable.
- The conversion of the flip-top is quick and easy to use.
- Nice, stylish design.
Cons:
- The "suede palm" is a nice bullet point, but is slippery and very thin.
- In general these mittens lack grip, especially when the full mitten is engaged. With your fingers exposed your grip is improved, but obviously will be colder. I was hoping to use these to drive with, but between the slippery leather palm and the wool itself, full mitten driving is not advised.
- The tag on the inside is kind of annoying. I'm sure I will cut it out some day.
- On the inside they seem to have cut some corners with their sewing. Most of the stitching of the corners is all connected via a single piece of thread which is easily snagged by your fingers. I'm sure this will eventually break, so hopefully it won't be an issue when it does.
- I wish the wrist cuff was slightly longer.
I searched almost daily for a good month before buying these. They are by far the most stylish design I found, and for the most part seem to be high quality, except for the weird stitching mentioned above.
Overall I recommend these and would buy them again. Only time will tell how durable they are. I have used these several times to shovel the sidewalk, etc., and seem no worse for wear. If they could put a better grip on these mittens they would pretty much be prefect in my opinion.
