I own several pairs of Frye boots and love them all. These missed the mark in terms of style. They are oddly wide around the ankle. This is fairly obvious in the picture but looks ill fitting and sloppy on my feet. You'll also want to break in/skuff up the soles as they are incredibly slippery. Sad to return as the quality of Frye boots is suburb.

Great looking, perfect fit. Best quality leather. Worth the money! Will last for many years.

Fit was perfect! I do have narrow feet and calves so I was worried I might be swimming in the shaft but they were just right. Easy to pull on and off unlike other Frye boots. The color “Smoke” is rich and beautiful. Comfortable as soon as I put them on. My new favorite boot.

I love these boots. I normally wear a 7 1/2, but had to send them back for 8. They are beautiful boots

The color of these boots is gorgeous. I've been eyeing them for a long time and finally purchased them on sale. I'm so happy I did. I wear an 8 and tried on both an 8 and 8.5. The 8 was a little snug around the ankle and narrow in the toe area while the 8.5 were too big, my heel was sliding up. I went with the 8 and am hopeful the toes area will stretch a little. I've worn them out a few times and love them!! You will not be disappointed, these boots are high quality and will last a very long time.

These boots felt amazing on. I got the black ones, and they felt true to size, and extremely comfortable. Some reviewers said that they felt too loose around the ankle, and even though I have pretty narrow ankles, they felt fine to me. Despite the fantastic buttery leather and comfortable fit, I did return them. I felt like they didn't go far enough up my calf and looked awkwardly short on my tall legs (I am 5'10') but I think girls on the shorter side could pull off the look. I think I would have kept them if I had gotten them in a brownish color, but they were just not tall enough and so dark.

Wasn't sure the first time I tried them on because the shaft was a little snug on my calves. But, because I'm a boot-a-holic, I new from past experience that it will stretch and mold to your calf with a little extra room. I got the smoke color and it's a deep rich brown. This makes them very conservative and can wear with anything. I love wearing skinny jeans tucked in the boot. I thought the heel might be a little higher like a previous pair I have that are 1 3/4', but they are definitely about 1 1/2". But with that said they will be comfortable once they are broke in. I think what sold me on them was they are wide enough in the foot and toe area which makes them really comfortable. At first I didn't know how I felt about the toe being a little pointed, but not like a lot of western boots that are really pointed. Sort of a round point. A good casual boot.

I love Frye boots and this is a beautifully made boot but it isn't actually a true fit for me. There is a wideness in the ankle which means the boot doesn't hit right on the calf. It may be great if you're a tall legged girl with small calves. Also though it may be true to size for some, I find that I almost always have to go up a half size for Frye boots. I love this boot but have to send it back because it just doesn't quite fit.

I have several pairs of "Frye" still wearing them . These boots are perfect for me. Even though I returned N exchanged a couple of times for sizes but got shipment the next day. Very good customer service!

I'm buying these as a replacement for my previous Frye boots, which I've had for many years. They're now too scuffed--but these are not as attractive as those were, because the new ones are wider at the ankle, creating a strange, less elegant line, which is unfortunate. But I will keep them because these are comfortable and I know I'll wear them a lot with jeans and pants. The problem is that they will not be versatile in terms of wearing with dresses, etc. for more formal occasions. I wish Frye still made the more narrow ankle-calf version!

These fit wonderfully, and it’s a beautiful boot. It’s just not what I was hoping for. It looked more like a western boot than I had hoped for. Had the shaft been little taller I would have loved them. It’s a gorgeous boot if that’s the style you’re looking for.

Someone else commented that the shaft was very wide. She was right! It feels like a giant stiff bucket around my ankle, with a little pointy toe sticking out of the bottom. I have two similar pairs of these boots that I have had for years. I love them and have resoled them several times. The shaft is not as crazy huge. I'm sending them back.

If these boots weren't excessively wide at the ankle, I would have been so happy. I can't find a simple, low heeled, good arch support, leather-soled boot for my narrow feet. Obviously I'm willing to pay a lot but it won't be these boots. I had high hopes as I have other lace-up Frye boots I love.

These boots were a gift for my wife. She has a narrow foot, and even with that , the fit (size of the boot) was good. The issue was the stiffness. She has other similar style Frye boots and they are soft and comfortable from day one. These boots seem to be made of a lesser quality leather, and very, very stiff. Additionally, the boot she received from Zappos had been worn quite a bit on rough surfaces. The soles were noticeably worn, marked and scratched, and had noticeably attempted to be cleaned. I would imagine the first purchaser(s) tried to wear them to break them in, but could not do so in a reasonable period of time, so they returned them. For a $300 boot, we expected better quality (from Frye), and a new product (from Zappos).

Too wide and too tight in the wrong places. Otherwise, it looks like a pretty cowboy boot which can be worn with a variety of outfits. It is also difficult to take off -- could be a problem for someone who lives alone and does not have convenient help with footwear. It is probably a great shoe for the right person. Sad to return it.
