I don't have wide calves, but I was hesitant to buy boots without a zipper. It's hard to find country boots in black, and these were a great price on sale, so I thought I'd take a chance. I'm so happy I did, these are beautiful, and extremely comfortable! Very easy to slip on too. Like most Ariat boots, the quality is excellent, and I look forward to wearing these for many years.

I hunted around for a long time, and tried on and returned many more expensive pairs of boots, determined to find something that fit my needs and that I could trust would hold up, before finally settling on these. I've had them a little over a year now, and so far they have been worth every penny. Very happy with the warmth, waterproofing and comfort level, and although I haven't needed to use the adjustable lacing yet, I love that it's an option. They have great traction and a sturdy sole that I feel secure walking in, even over mud and ice and uneven terrain. Plus they look really nice! The English country vibe works just as well for going into town as pottering around on the farm. I feel a bit like Kate Middleton's long-lost American cousin when I wear them. And they don't seem to get dirty, despite me almost never cleaning them. Maybe it's the waterproofing? Dunno, but it's certainly a plus! I wear 7.5-8, usually 8 in boots, and I got these in 8. They fit as I would expect, maybe just a tiny bit on the small side. I can't wear my very thickest socks with them, but most work fine and the 8.5 would likely have been too big. They are also a little tight across the top of the foot, but as I have unusually high arches, I don't think that would be an issue for most people. One of these days I will just take them in to be stretched a bit. All in all, this was my first Ariat purchase, and definitely won't be my last. (Actually just placed my second order for some waterproof chelsea boots in black. So excited!) Thanks for making such a nice boot.

These boots are so comfortable - . they're like wearing a high-end comfort tennis shoe! They keep my feet dry, and warm. These are my go to boots on a daily basis whether I am on the ranch or going to town.

Great quality boot! Also gets a lot of compliments. Comfortable; I ride 25-50mi endurance rides in these waterproof boots, then do chores and/or walk around camp, and never change out of my boots. If I could modify anything, it would be a slightly wider toe box. However, they are wonderful as-is. They also never look dirty somehow!! Thank you, Ariat.

These are so comfortable and fit perfect right out of the box! They are true to size - I wear a 6.5 which is what I got and I could easily wear socks and even moderately thick hiking socks without issues. If you had extremely thick socks you may want to go a half size up. These are my favorite go to boots now!

I wear these for riding and around the stables. They are very comfortable (from the first wear) both in and out of the saddle and fit really well. They look great, much better than the photos. Would look equally good with jeans when out and about away from the stables. I have only had them a month or so, so can't comment on longevity, but the quality is great so I am sure they will last.

Got these to replace Muck Boots but I've worn them pretty much everywhere! There cute and functional!

Ariat has always been my go to brand for style, comfort and durability. These boots go great with any style and I love how they fit! I can dress up or dress down anytime of the year!

I LOVE THESE BOOTS!!! I didn't have time to break them in before Defender KY 3 Day weekend, but it turns out I didn't even need to. They fit exactly like my paddock boots and were a dream all weekend.

Love these! Fit immediately, keep my feet dry and insert and sole are very comfortable. I wear these for barn chore times even giving my mare a wash. They work fine to hop on and ride too. I like better than a former river boot I used to get.

So, I purchased these boots for a few reasons: they look great, they're high-quality and made with top materials, theyre protective and comfortable. For me, these work for walking outside across my property, which is compromised of very tall grasses, thick/heavy bush, rocky outcrops, and wet areas. I primarily wanted boots that would effectively wirkas "snake boots", which these absolutely do, while looking really nice...because who doesn't love aesthetics while getting dirty!

I cannot rave enough about these boots! I saved for months to purchase them as they are the most expensive clothing item I have ever purchased. 100000% worth every penny! They took about a week to break in, and I have been wearing them every single day for the last 4 months. They are 100% waterproof so far! I have stepped ankle-deep in a puddle and stayed completely dry. They are extremely comfortable and VERY durable! I have slightly wider calves and I can still pull them over my boot-cut jeans perfectly snug. I even wear them with dresses every now and then. They are perfect for any outfit if you're looking for style! I am constantly getting compliments from women and men alike. Everyone loves these boots!! The quality is truly unmatched. I could not be happier with this purchase and I will buy them again and again as long as they make them! I am confident that these will last at least the rest of the year if not the next 2! (I am very hard on my boots, so this is a big deal) One of my favorite things about these is that they brush off really well and are easy to clean. I genuinely could go on and on about how amazing they are. If you're considering this pair, just pull the trigger. You will not regret it!

I have been wearing Ariat footwear for over 30 years now. These are a great addition to my collection. I have metal in many parts of my body (left foot and ankle, lumbar spine, cervical spine and right clavicle). Comfort is an absolute necessity for me! I most recently wore these in Disneyland and walked all day with these on and was never uncomfortable. They kept me warm and I love that they are waterproof as well.

Fits True - Very Comfortable and Warm - Able to wear in ever changing Wyoming weather and go from my professional job to walking the dogs in the country to dinner out.

Love this boot! I ride western and it perfect for trail riding and arena work. Looks great with jeans too. Fits true to size and the shaft is not too wide.

I had a pair of Duluth waterproof high boots that wore out and I was looking for something a bit more stylish. I got these to replace them and I love them. They are easy to slip on, the footbed is really comfortable (no need to add cushion inserts) and I've been out in the pouring rain but my feet stayed warm (thanks to Merino wool socks) and dry while the design of the boots keep me stylish. I went up a 1/2 size to a 10 and the only complaint I have is that by the end of the day, my toes feel a little compressed so I would have preferred a square toe over the round toe design but it's not a deal breaker. They keep their shape and after being fully soaked, they still look great!

These boots are fantastic. I've had them on for about an hour now since they arrived (I couldn't wait), and they are very comfortable! I typically wear an 8 1/2 but noticed the reviews that mentioned the narrow foot bed, so I ordered a 9 just in case. They're great! A tiny bit loose in the heel but nothing I can't get used to or put thick socks on for. The quality of the leather is obvious, so much so that I am ordering special cleaner to keep them nice for as long as possible. These will be my every-day shoes for the next year at least, so I will update my review periodically for longevity. I really am so in-love with these boots! Absolutely worth the money in my opinion so far.

These boots fit great and I've had them for three years and they've never changed! They never have gotten my feet wet if I walk into puddles and they keep my feet warm in the winter. Absolutely love them! I've been wearing them a lot lately with holidays, appointments, and other special occasions.

Absolutely love these boots! I normally wear a 10 1/2 so I ordered up (11) for winter socks. All around good boot attractive, comfortable, sturdy I can walk in the muck, ride in them and wear them out for a casual get together!

I wanted tall boots that I could wear for working in the barn, run in for a therapeutic program I volunteer with and ride in! I got them today and wore them out in the muddy dry lot and went for a ride. They were so comfortable!!!
