So happy to find these shoes! I've had several foot surgeries and needed a wide toe shoe that my heel wouldn't slip out of - also, wanting a zero rise style, to improve my gate, that still addressed my over-pronation. Very Pleased!

I have had the past three versions of the provision and this one is the best by far. Its less bulky and slightly more streamlined than past versions. The guardrail feels more firm and stable also. I have moderate overpronation that causes me shin and knee pain on occasion. I have needed to put my orthotics in on previous provisions. But I have not needed my orthotics at all since wearing the 3.5!

I was a fan of the Provision 2.0 and 2.5, but the 3.0 was a total miss on Altra's part. I am thrilled that the Provision 3.5 fits and feels like the 2 series. I ordered a size 8.5, but it is the same length as the size 9 in the Provision 2.0. I have sizes 8 and size 9 in the 2.0, and wanted extra length to keep my toe from hitting the end of the shoe when I hike in the mountains. I plan to alternate these and the Paradigm I purchased earlier, however, I expect I will wear these the most because they just fit my foot better. Many thanks to Altra for bringing back a stable shoe that is perfect for over pronators.

The size and color of this shoe is very nice but just did not have enough cushion for me like the Torin 2.0

These were not the right shoes for me. Cushion was great but for my arches (high) they were very uncomfortable to run in. Tried twice. Disappointed as these were recommended. But order and delivery were excellent!

Better toe box width than most other athletic shoes out there. However it could be better. Also - the part of the shoe where the ball of the foot is, is too narrow and constricting. Problem is, there aren't any other shoes I have found that are better in both areas AND have some cushioning for transition to minimalist shoes and/or older feet. Make them wider at ball of foot and toe box, and you'll have something SUPERIOR.

I wore these to work today. I biked in, and have a desk job, so it's not like I've walked around much. My guess is maybe 600 steps? My left foot is SORE, along the outside edge, opposite the lowest 3 lace holes, as though area of the shoe is just not roomy enough. There is generous toe room, though, which is SO NICE! and my right foot feels okay - usually it's my right foot that protests everything! I will try to stretch this left shoe where the seams are, and where the silver logo is stitched on, to see if will 'give' enough, and I hope it does, because otherwise, I'm not sure I can use this shoe. The toe room feel wonderful, and the cushioning is essential/welcome. But my feet feel TIGHT inside these shoes, especially that left foot. From the metatarsals to where the laces tie. And I have a pretty skinny foot, so maybe this is a too-high arches problem? Maybe the shoe is just not roomy enough?

Would love to wear these shoes but need a half size smaller. At this time Altra doesn't make an 11.5 in the women's line. Maybe soon?

Not true to size. About a half size or more bigger. The shoe is so wide that when I walked the inside of the shoe buckled.

I have always been prone to motion sickness, although it has gotten much better with age, but putting these shoes on for 5 minutes made me trip, fall back and to the right, and gave me severe motion sickness and dizziness! I have never had this happen from a pair of shoes. It was like that feeling you would get as a kid from spinning for a long time then stopping. Avoid if you have similar tendencies. I also felt the arch was too intense and uncomfortable with every step, like having a ball under my foot. They are also extremely ugly. Like ugly grandpa shoes from the 80s (I was a kid in the 80s, I remember). Then again, super ugly shoes are "having a moment" right now in fashion, so maybe go for it if that's your aesthetic. These might be great for some people, just not me.

I thought these would replace my old Paradigms that have worked great for hallux rigidus, but they rubbed a blister on the inside heel of my good foot.

I have Provision 2.5 and was amazed at how my feet and legs no longer became tired and painful. I could see and feel the correction of my right foot pronation. But the Achilles heel pads wore through and wires were scraping my skin! I just received the new 3.5 version today. Right away I could feel that the shoe is sized smaller, but I ordered a half size up in anticipation of this problem. The shoe is heavier. Slightly more streamlined in the front, but bulkier at the heel. The shoe seems to be addressing the tendency for my ankles to roll inward, but the pronation of my right foot still seems evident. As I walk and adapt to these new shoes, I hope they actually provide the correction and comfort I got from the 2.5. I will try to update my review in a few weeks. I am not thrilled with the gray/dark pink colors, but I prefer it over the other two options.

I have the Altra Lone Peak and it has a generous foot box. This style was very different in construction and way too narrow for my wide forefoot. Pinched toes. I appreciate that Zappos gives me the opportunity to try risk free the styles I hope will fit. Styles change so rapidly now, a manufacturer and size that fits one year is entirely different the next.

They were comfortable at first, until I got a blister on the top part of my foot from the material rubbing. I have the Altra Provision 2.0 and these just are not as good.

I have worn provisions for years. I LOVED them. Couldn't find the 2.5s anymore so went with the new version. These rub and cause blisters. Have to tape my feet every time I run. I wish you would go back to the previous version.

I have a pair of Timps that I really like but find my arches start to hurt when I've walked in them for a few miles. I bought a pair of Provisions due to having more stability. However these hurt my feet more and give me a blister. I also find the construction of this shoe to be very stiff. I would not recommend these.

I ordered and 11 and a 12 in this shoe knowing one should fit. Neither did. One felt like it ran small and the other big. With such a big difference between the two sizes, even bigger than any other brand of shoes I've ever tried, I'd expect to see a 11.5. Nope. This is truly unfortunate. I was excited for a wider toe box that is needed when you have really long toes. Your toe box gets pushed back where most shoes start to get narrow. I also need a stability shoe and a fair amount of padding due to running on concrete a lot. This shoe checked all the boxes. The shoes felt amazing when I put them on, except for being really short or really long. I don't understand why the size difference is so much. It felt like 3/4"+ difference. I wish an 11.5 was offered or the sizing was consistent. I know these two sizes shouldn't be that much different. Size 11: definitely ran small Size 12: definitely ran big/long *Rating would be a 5 if they could get the sizing right*

I really wish Altra would make an 11.5 in women's shoes. These shoes felt a half size too big. I went with the EU sizing from my go to Brooks shoes and felt these were too long.

I have used the Altra provision previous models and felt they were a God-sent because they were so comfortable and provide the stability I needed without feeling bulky. I just got the 3.5 version for the first time and they were much bigger than the previous model same size. They felt heavier and the material on top of the shoe felt less soft than previous models. I also prefer the previous color scheme. I will order a half-size smaller and see if that works for me but so far I really miss the previous model.

Didn't work for me, I may have sensitive heels, but the heel on this shoe rubbed mine raw.

this is the same size and shoe i have ordered before but i was sent a WIDE shoe instead of normel width and if you place my old shoe and the shoes sent sent by zappos side by side, the new shoe was a quarter inch longer although marked the same size. Therefore the manufacturers need better quality control and zappos employees need to pay more attention to the order and not send a wide shoe when normal width was indicated. it is a HUGE INCONVENIENCE to return items when during my work day and when trying to take care of a family.

When Altra first made the Provision sneakers (then called the Provisioness), the toe box was nice and wide, with room for one's toes to spread out. Now, the women's version of the sneakers are way too narrow. I'm very disappointed.

I ordered this shoe, which did not fit, and I returned it within the required return period using Altra's provided return shipping label. The return was received by Altra 13 business days ago, and I have received no refund or response from Altra after repeated attempts at contacting them. I have never experienced anything like this with any other company. I would like to re-order in the correct size but am not comfortable doing so until I receive a refund for the returned order.
