I wear them for racewalking. I'm very hard on shoes so I save the Escalante Racers mostly for track workouts and races as I wear them out fast. Very lightweight and breathable with a good feel - I don't care for the really thick soled shoes.

I love the Escalante Racer. The toe box is perfect, the level of cushion is perfect, the length of the laces is perfect, the teal color is perfect. It's nicely ventilated for warm weather, too. I hope Altra doesn't ruin it with "upgrades." I've worn Escalante Racers since I bought the Chicago Marathon racer on sale in 2029. They've always been great shoes.

I have 2 pair in the gray but I would Love to get my hands on white!!! I would even purchase another gray pair if only I could find them?!?! I could (and have) wear these all day and my feet, legs & knees feel wonderful! Please let me know if I can locate a white & gray pair somewhere? I don't understand why the styles change when so many people like certain styles like this one?!

Wow!!! These sneakers are amazing!!! They fit great and are super light. I used to have the Altra Torin 2.5 that came in the original foot shape. And I loved that fit because I have bunions and typical running sneakers are way too narrow, so I was a bit apprehensive about the standard foot shape. But I am pleasantly surprised and I absolutely love the fit!!! They are so comfortable!!!

As someone who wants the feel and fit of a "natural footwear" shoe but needs a little cushion for road mileage, this shoe is the unicorn I was looking for. They are remarkable in the sole and light (even lighter than some of my true barefoot shoes) despite the cushion and are very fast and responsive. After running in them for several months, they're now the only shoe I will use for training and racing. They give my toes plenty of space without my foot sliding around, which has been a challenge for me in other brands. My only complaint, as someone using them for everyday- I wish they came in more boring colors. I know they are racers, but I love me a classic black and white sneaker!

These are the perfect, breathable shoes, they are so comfortable. They are my go to shoe, and they are adorable.

So glad my daughter directed me to this wonderful brand. These shoes are perfect for active adults who want a lower stack height and zero drop shoes. Looking forward to the release of more colors!

I really love this shoe! I have had at least two of every color option they have offered. I wish they had more options for color!! I would have two of those as well!

I love these. I am in fully barefoot shoes but when doing a lot of HITT workouts or walking a lot these are great. I wish there was an option that had a little less insole.

I made a great choice with my first minimalist shoe purchase. I was worried about the toe box being too narrow but it is very generous and gives my toes plenty of room to flex. I just wish it came in more colors! Would recommend it for someone looking to transition into a minimalist-style running shoe.

Hey Altra! Love your shoes so much. The escalante racer is the perfect minimalist running shoe, but I don't like the harsh and contrasting colors they come in so much that it prevents me from buying them. Will you please release these shoes in different colors that aren't contrasting primary colors like black and red or red and neon green? What about pink? Or teal? Light blue? Sage green? Periwinkle?! The other shoes y'all make come in such great colors. Please let them spill over onto the racers! Thank you!!

I have been running in the Escalante 1.5 for years. I loved the wide footbed at the ball of the foot, the zero drop and the flexibility. I have tried all of the newer iterations but they never quite worked for me and I was getting a little desperate because my shoes were starting to show a lot of wear. Altra recommended the Racer and it is perfect. I may even like it better than my old Escalante. I have had no problems transitioning whatsoever. The ball of the foot is plenty wide enough while still keeping my foot in place. The sole is flexible yet provides enough protection for my feet when running on gravel. The mesh upper is good for keeping my feet cool although I am afraid that it won't be great for winter running. Best of all, I have had no foot or leg pain after my runs. Truthfully, the only complaint that I have is that the shoelaces are too short in two of the three pairs that I bought. I run around three miles five days a week and am about 5 ft. 4 in. and 120 pounds. I always size up a full size in Altras, otherwise I find them too short.

I have been running exclusively in Alta Escalante racers now for 1+ years and I am a high volume runner - 1,900+ miles last couple years - used to rate in Torins and regular escalantes but migrated to just the racers for last year and my running is better for it. I wear these shoes for racing, training for all distances from 5K to Marathon. I love this shoe. I really want this shoe in hot pink (with a yellow altra logo) or florescent yellow (with a red altra logo or florescent orange (with a yello Altra logo) I cannot get over how much stronger my feet are from running in these shoes.

I've bought a LOT of running shoes by numerous brands and these are the best hands down! Enough give to not constrain but also not flimsy. Enough cushion without encouraging foot muscle atrophy. And as always, love the generous toe box in the foot shape design and the 0 drop. Don't ever change this design!!

I do my workout runs with this product. Everything is wonderful about the shoes. The only thing you could improve is longer shoelaces.

Have worn them ina variety of situations and surfaces and have found them comfortable in all!! Love that they are so lightwish they came in white

Used for running on roads. 3-4 miles a few times a week. Love them. I have been running on the Altra trail shoes, decided to try the road shoes and so thankful I did.

I love these shoes! They are very lightweight and the mesh fabric is breathable. I have bunions on my right foot and the design of these shoes leaves plenty of space. I can run with no pain.

These are like the best shoes ever. I thought I gave up running for good because of nearly constant knee pain after running two marathons in super high arch/high cushion shoes, but then discovered this shoe and have been running constantly since February 2022 in them. Love this shoe. I've noticed Altra is really starting to put out super high stacked shoes lately and it makes me so sad. I hope they continue to offer the Escalante Racer for a long time...I am on my third pair and cannot imagine ever going back to a tall platform arched shoe. The shoe is perfect and needs no changes, but if they were designing more shoes in addition I with they offered 1. an Escalante Racer with even less padding, and 2. an Escalate Racer that had more grip on the bottom. Also would be great to get this in more lighter/fun colors like white, pink, green, etc.

I am a walker, 5 to 10 miles a day. I am also healing plantar fasciitis. These shoes are just supportive enough to cushion my horrible habit of heel walking, yet keep my feet strong and spread out.

I use these shoes for me circuit training. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on my feet. I live in Arizona and the mesh uppers keep me get cool. The soles are amazing.

I wanted a minimally cushioned shoe to help with form and these are perfect. I did my long runs in these and just crushed my first half marathon in them! I wish it came in more colors!

I trialed this pair for 30 days. They have a slight feel of cushioning with a neutral footbed feel. Mesh toe box allows feet to cool off.

I like minimal shoes that give my feet flexibility to move but need more cushion than barefoot running shoes. These are amazingly comfortable!!! Downside, they wear down fast/are not durable at all.

Escalante racer is such a perfect shoe as is- just like Chuck Taylor All Star, it needs no updates (just give us new colors). Nobody else makes a shoe like this and I will continue to buy them :)
