One of the best things about these shoes as I use them for court sports. They provide just enough cushioning but lots of foot mobility so you have much better traction.

For wide feet, like mine. Perfect balance between light weight, cushion, and zero drop. Takes conditioning of the calves, but ideal for longer term avoidance of knee and IT issues. On road, enough cushion for up to around 20 miles. You could easily tough out a marathon.

I have been running and walking in the shoes from the minute I received them. They feel so great I actually look for excuses to wear them. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is my first zero drop and Altra brand shoe. They are Fast and Versatile! I did a trail 50K in them after a week of track workouts! In the washer and look brand new! I love the white but will be happy with the black style.

Light upper. Just enough cushioning. Comfortable fit. Just over 18 miles so far. Very happy.

An Altra fan. Toe box is the main reason. Of the Altra’s that I own the Escalante Racers and Lone Peaks are my favorites. I like the minimal cushioning and breathability of the Racers. I last bought some in 2019 and don’t feel much change from those. The mesh in these may be tighter. A good shoe unless you’re looking for cushioning.

It looks like they stopped offering the white version, which I currently own. I love them because they look slick and go well with everything. Besides that, I've gotten some of my best 5k runs in these shoes. You get to feel the road perfectly while still being extra bouncy. I also own the Escalante, but I find these provide more bounce and feedback.

I've had two pairs of racers so far. Love the feel, flexibility, breathability and energy return. Def rewards good form. Nice wide toe box feels much better than Nikes or Ons I've compared against. Both lasted 650+ miles of 90% asphalt, 10% packed dirt @ 50ish miles/week. That's tread worn down to the foam though... I might have let them go a bit too long. Time to reload!

I needed a new shoe for running around me neighborhood on streets and sidewalks. This shoe is working out better than I expected, or as good as I had hoped from my experiences with the Superior series. These have just the right amount of cushioning - no bounce, and it doesn't take a toll on my knees or hips which had become a real problem since I've had less and less time to hit the trails. The material is mesh, like very mesh. You can see three the shoe so it's extremely breathable but the material is a little rough on the feet unless you wear socks. Only pointing this out because with other Altra shoes I could go either way but socks are recommended for these!

Love the mesh top and close-to-zero drop. Have already used it for long runs with great results.

Hands down the best shoe I have ever run in. Firm, light and comfortable for the long and short runs. I have literally tried 90% of every major shoe brand out there. The Racer is the only one for me, now.

I switched from Nike renew shoes to these shoes, they haven't haven't caused me any of the joint pain my old shoes gave, I'm fact they made it better and correct my form. They reward good form and speed. Best shoe I've ever bought. Next time I think I'll get 2.5s just for a little more cushion and and durability.

I have no negative comments regarding this shoe. The foot shape toe box is excellent as is the zero drop--both have reduced foot-pain (blisters and achilles tendonitis) associated with running of all distances.

I wore the escalante 1.5s since freshman year of xc, and ran every pair into the ground. Found out they were gonna stop making them, heartbroken, until I realized this was almost the exact same shoe.

I run 4.5 miles 150 times a year. That's my exercise gig. That means I need my Escalante to support me for 675 miles a year. I used the Escalante the last two years (675 miles each pair). This year I switched to the Escalante Racer. I'm only 10 runs into my year of exercise but so far they are performing great. I love them even better than the first two pairs. ALTRA, I'll see you next year.

After two pairs of Escalantes, I wanted to try something a little bit lighter. These fit the bill. They are comfortable and fit my wide, flat feet very well.

Really into this shoe after 130 miles. Great minimal feel while still providing protection, grip, and cornering stability. I've use these for runs up to 15+ miles and found the cushioning ample. I run a lot of hills and was worried these might be too high impact for asphalt downhills, but they are fine. Nothing like my Merrell Vapor Glove 3 which are brutal on hills. Before the Escalante Racers I was in a pair of Torin 4 which I still like to use when I want a change. Similar fit (both size 10) but the Racer is a bit narrower. I like that as it's more sock-like (the upper is completely mesh) and my foot feels mated to the sole. Worth noting that while the upper is mesh, it's not too stretchy, so the lateral support is great.

The fit and size are perfect. A great summer shoe as the weave is very open. You can see your toes or socks through the holes in the weave.

Perfect for being on my feet all day long. I love them. I wish they came in shoes without the wide weave too. I would buy every color if I could!

I've been running since before Nike poured rubber into waffle irons. Best road shoe I've ever worn. Perfect combination of firm, flat, flexible, support, weight, style, color, lockdown and fit. Training in these makes the regular Escalante feel like a plush recovery shoe.

Great road shoe that I got to replace my poor Solstice. Same great sock-like feel with just enough cushion for the road.
