These shoes have a CLASSIC dress black look, good for all occasions. The leather is semi hard at first. They hurt my heal from rubbing for two all day wears, wear thicker socks. After I put leather conditioner on them they softened up. The insole is very comfortable and supportive. I have never owned a pair of Steve Madden's, but will continue to shop their brand.
My only con with the Steve Madden Mantra shoes is the inner heal design.
I'd also recommend:
I prefer brown and black classic looks for work.

I got the dark tan in 10 1/2 M. They looked big right out of the box. Trying them on, there was some extra room at the toe, but not enough for me to return them as I think my toes would be pinched in with a size 10. That said, the shoes look great. They look way more expensive than the $69.99 sale price. So far they feel comfortable. It's always hard to gauge comfort right away.
