Just got this so the jury's still out on how cold might be too cold. I'm holding on to my older North Face just in case this one can't hand February in Chicago. That said, when I first put it on, it felt quite warm. Also, it's a rainy day today so I pulled out the liner coat and used the outer shell. Love how functional it is!

I'm delighted by the light weight of this jacket. The compression of the thermoball liner is impressivevery little bulk with the liner inside of the shell. The shell looks and fits great without the liner. This is not a jacket for serious and prolonged winter cold, but I would use it in the dead of winter running errands in my car. My primary purpose for this jacket is hiking in spring and fall.
I thought I would wear an XL, but I used the North Face's size finder, ordering an XXL. Glad I did!

Great jacket for cold windy weather. Was what I needed to brave the unexpected New York weather 2 weeks ago.

This coat is fine but honestly not great. Mostly I think I do not prefer 3-in-1 jackets as I find that they don't do any one thing all that great. I like the color combo of the green and black but overall the fit was a little tight in the shoulders and they pieces moved around too much when attached together, exaggerating the feeling of "layers". I can do this layering with my existing outerwear.

Lightweight and warm. Chest pocket is very shallow. Everything falls out easily. Should've been deeper. And why not to add sleeve zip or Velcro closed pocket, would be very handy.

At first glance, it seems like a great jacket. The materials and craftsmanship are top notch. However, the fit, for me, is off. It’s tight in the shoulders and would benefit from a second zipper for more comfortable sitting. Sizing up would result in comically long sleeves. Seems like it would be warm down to the 20’s but not much further as it is fairly lightweight. Overall, I think a “systems” jacket is just for me as I find the putting on a taking off a little cumbersome with the minimal attachments of the two layers. My hunt for waterproof warmth continues.

I gifted this to my husband and he liked the product. But the product was damaged as there was a hole under the left front pocket. I feel bad as this was my first gift to him.

Jacket is very stylish. It would be a great jacket for a city that doesn't hit below 40 degrees. Once it's below 40 degrees this jacket is utterly useless and that's with me wearing crewneck under it too. It was 30 degrees and when I wore the jacket with a crewneck under it the jacket felt like a wind breaker

Excellent fit. Warm neighs to wear between 40-50F. Great looking product. Fits a bit on a slim side which is a huge positive given that all jackets produced by the US companies are baggy and slouchy. The only negative is that chest pocket is not deep enough. Also, there are no sleeve pockets at all for north face 3-in1 line, which is huge negative. Thus, three stars. Hoping the company will fix it soon.

I like how it looks, gotten a lot of compliments on the style, but it feels a little bulky while wearing it.

I live in Wisconsin, and this jacket was not warm enough for our winters. I was expecting it to be a lot thicker, but this jacket was way too lightweight. Even with proper layering underneath I was still freezing cold. This jacket holds up well at around 30 degrees fahrenheit, with layering underneath.

I buy a new North Face jacket about every 5 to 7 years and this unfortunately will be my last one. Quality goes down and price remands the same. I don't expect this to keep me warm on any day below 40. Half as heavy as the triclimate jacket I bought 5 years ago and 1/4 as heavy as the one I bought in the 90s. The North Face logo is just screen printed on now. The quality and warmth of a North Face jacket is just gone. I get that they have lots of jackets to choose from but this jacket is advertised as a winter coat. I live in WV and the jacket I received is not a winter jacket in WV. I'm keeping it because I paid just over a 1/3 of what it was priced at originally and I'll get use out of it on mild days but I never would have kept it at a more expensive price. It's cheaply made now, TNF has cut all the corners. I read others saying that and after I got it in my hands I understand what they are talking about. It looks good from a distance but when you start looking it over it doesn't feel like a quality garment that you are going to wear for years. It feels disposable now. I don't ski or climb or backpack like I use to but if I did this isn't the jacket I would take on any of those trips. My 20 something self would destroy this jacket on a few of those trips. This is a nice jacket to go grocery shopping in on a cold rainy day... if you know what I mean.

I wear an XL in every brand i have ever worn. This XL was about the size of most other brands L jackets. I tried on a friends XXL and i could fit 2 of myself in it. There is no happy median with this jacket. They do not make a single size i can wear. This is also an ongoing complaint on many of North Face's jackets. If you read the reviews you will find many just like mine. Why this has not been fixed i do not know. I have found reviews as far back as 2010 with the same complaint on multiple jacket models. The XL is made for a super model and the XXL is made for a sumo wrestler.

I'm quite disappointed in my purchase. The yellow is not TNF yellow, it's lighter and not what I wanted. I sent the jacket back and took the chance that the next one would be right, I was wrong. So now I have this second jacket that is not what I wanted and customer service hasn't gotten back to me after the first response in which they stated all the reasons I can't return the jacket. I'm unhappy with my purchase and I feel like TNF brand has really decreased in quality amongst other areas and this will be my last purchase.
