This is a follow up review - I continued to wear the Timberland Jayne 6 around the house for another day and by the end of the day, my lower calf was bruised at the top of the boot, even with crew socks added to the testing process. Plus, the boots are a little heavy, and i clomp in them. I began to seriously question whether these would be a good option for walking 6-8 miles a day in Europe in winter.
I ordered the Born Evans boot and tried those (2 days later- love you, Zappos!) and these were night and day- so comfortable and the style is just about exact - the Born is a little narrower looking and maybe a little more "feminine" as these boots go (just clunky enough!). These are lighter as well, and have a cushioned foot bed - and the toe box is flexible! I think another reviewer said she had to run in these to catch a train and i can see that would be possible- the Timberland Jaynes not so much.
I'm sending the Timberland Jayne 6 back and keeping the Borns.
I do appreciate Zappos for their awesome shipping and return policy! It makes "shoe research" so much easier.
I'd also recommend:

Okay kids lemme tell you a story. I bought these boots right before my semester abroad in Italy. I have different Timbs and I adore them so I thought, heck, why not buy the waterproof ones since Italy is super wet? So I got these boots in black and they're super cute and comfy (once you break them in and all that) and I've basically worn them all over Europe. ANYWAY, you probably have heard that Venice is currently experiencing the highest flooding they've had in 55 years. Our school takes students to Venice every semester. We pull up in Venice and sure enough, its flooded as all get out. So they give us these little plastic bags to put over our shoes so we can wade through the streets during aqua alta (high tide). Underneath these plastic bags/boots I'm wearing the Timbs. So these plastic bags do a pretty dope job of keeping the water out for approximately an hour until me and my friends (being dumb college kids) decide that we totally need to go to San Marcos square, which was under around 5 feet of water. So as we slog through the streets of Venice the water is getting deeper and deeper until we're basically wading through a foot and a half of water. The waters sloshing up to over our stupid plastic bag/boot things. We end up having to turn back because we weren't going to literally swim to San Marcos. Long story short, I make it back to my hotel like 4 hours later and I am SOAKED from head to toe (it started to pour halfway back from San Marcos) and let me tell you MY SOCKS WERE DRY. The outside of my Timbs was soaked and my pants were soaked (cuz the plastic bag/boots were wildly ineffective) but the Timbs are genuinely waterproof. And the best part is, I stuck them by the towel warmer in my hotel room and those babies were dry the next morning. When Timberland says their boots are waterproof they MEAN it. I doubt any of y'all are planning on testing their shoes as intensely as I tested them but trust me, buy yourself a pair of Timbs. I want 6 more pairs.

Once I broke these boots in (and it took a couple weeks!) they became my go-to boots. I live in NYC and need shoes that will handle the amount of walking I do, and are ready for unexpected weather changes. These are stunning, comfortable, waterproof and sturdy. I also tied the laces like duck boots so they can slide on and off. I plan on buying another pair in burgundy (I have the all-black ones) so I have more fashion options.

These boots were very comfortable! I usually have to put insoles in my shoes/boots because of lack of arch support and a general lack of cushion, but with the Jayne I didn't need to. Out of the box it's comfortable to wear. There is a bit of stiffness In the shaft of the boots at first, but nothing that makes it overly uncomfortable. I haven't worn It as much because it is the summer at the moment, but I easily see these boots being my go to fall/winter pair. I haven't been able to test it's waterproof claims because I haven't been caught in the rain with them on yet. The soles also feel nice and grippy and I think they will do well in the winter weather.
Aesthetically, I like the burgundy color, but do wish the soles were a darker in color so they didn't stick out as much from the rest of the boot. I also really like the slim silhouette -- it does give the boot a nice feminine look.

Very durable and attractive for a work/combat/hiking like boot. I love the color, it's a rich reddish mahogany that looks best when worn with tall, layered, thick socks. I like wearing mine with leggings. I found the boots to definitely run large both in size at least 1/2 size big and a little on the wider side. There's a lot of cushiness that's nice if walking long distances, but I have to wear thick socks with these otherwise I'm afraid they'll rub my feet wrong.

Love these boots, perfect for Colorado winter. I am between an 8-8.5, and have wide feet. I purchased both the 8 and 8.5 in this shoe and ended up sticking with the 8.5.

Love this shoe. Slim look. Runs large. I usually wear a 10 and. 9.5 was almost too big. But, I decided to keep the 9.5.

I thought the original Timberland boots were great, but these are next level! The Women's Jayne Waterproof 6-Inch Leather Boots scream comfort. From the moment I put these boots on, I was in HEAVEN. The soles are super comfy, the boot itself fits just right, and the little heel on the boot adds some style to its classic look. I would recommend these boots to anyone.

my normal size is 9.5 but i usually get 10 to accommodate my bunion. these were way too narrow for even a normal foot. I love the very firm exterior - they do not bend easily so not for a day of shopping. Wish they had a zipper to get into.

These are good looking boots that require much more break-in work than I'm used to. I've worn them to work several times and on several walks around the neighborhood, and so far they're still painful. I have narrow heels and that's where I feel the most pain. If the leather softens up so that I can tighten the fit with the laces, that might alleviate my heel problem, but the boot throat profile is so steep that I'm not sure I'll be able to tighten them enough. I bought these to replace my Teva Delavina Two lace-up boots--my favorite boots ever, so bummed they've been discontinued--and so far the Timberlands are only meeting some of my criteria. CRITERIA MET: good looking lace-ups without bells and whistles; can wear to the office; can wear to muddy job sites; waterproof; good traction. CRITERIA NOT MET: I don't dare to hike in them because they're so stiff and heavy; I don't like to walk around the neighborhood in them for the same reasons. I'll have to pick a long weekend to sacrifice my heels and break these in as hard as I can. Hoping to return with a more favorable report.

Look great but I have narrow feet and these were just too narrow at the front and they feel very stiff. Unfortunately I had to return them.

This is one of my go-to winter boots in Chicago when the temperatures are above 20 degrees F and when the snow is not above 1 foot (if the streets are shoveled, I wear them more as well.
I am what is considered a speed walker, but you don't want to speed walk when bits of ice are in the streets or when the snow is super thin (like .5 inches) because you can easily slide/ fall. These shoes give me traction that I can trust. I can confidently speed walk up a slanted sidewalk/ navigating around icy parts of the sidewalks because I know I don't have to walk timidly/ on a light step to get to my destinations. other people make lighter steps and thus they walk slower. When I'm walking down wet stairs from the melting snow on the train platform, I feel good. Safety is important in Chicago winters, and these boots give me style as well.

The color is a nice bluish grey and they will go with everything. It's so difficult to find genuine leather boots at a reasonable price. These are true to size, I normally take a 6.5-7 and I first purchased the 7 but they were slipping in the back so I retrurned them for the 6.5. I found the customer service to be outstanding also. Timberland has been around for as long as I can remember and it's so refreshing to see they are still producing quality boots and they know how to treat their customers.

I bought these boots on Black Friday. I bought them for 79 dollars for my daughter to give as one of her gifts for Christmas. I definitely would recommend a pair. I'm looking forward to purchasing more pairs for my family
