I wear an 8 1/2-9 normally. Based on reviews I bought a 9.5, which worked. I had 1/2” room with boot socks on from toe to tip. I have a narrow foot and felt that the boot was narrow across the forefoot. Not too narrow to feel uncomfortable but still noticeable until worn fir a bit. A really thick sock won’t work. The insole has crazy cushion at the heel where it feels like you are walking on springs; the shoes are a little bouncy but still comfy. The sole is somewhat curved on the bottom so when you walk the shoe rocks from heel to toe making it easy to walk in. The boot shaft is soft which makes walking easy, too, compared to stiffer boots that walk more like ski boots. I have high arches so the arch support isn’t great. I imagine walking in them for a few hours might tire high arches. The boots are VERY lightweight for a waterproof boot. At first I wasn’t sure about them but after walking around for 5 min they became comfortable. Give them a shot before getting rid of them. I normally make a snap decision on shoes. I’m glad I didn’t this time otherwise I would’ve returned them.

What a big box of disappointment! I purchased a 10 and a 10.5 for my 9.5 feet. I never even opened the 10, as the 10.5 was tight and short. They look like nice enough boots but all this shipping and waiting just won't do. Good thing it's Zappos.

So glad that I listened to the other reviews and ordered a full size larger than my usual. I usually wear an 8 and ordered a 9 and so glad I did. Love these boots! Definitely keep my feet warm and so very comfortable. No need to wear heavy winter socks with these boots. Make sure to loosen the laces all the way down before putting on otherwise your socks will be pulled so tight your toes will go numb. :)
