For sizing...5'11" 160lbs, went with medium. It's form fitting but when used as a mid layer that's what I want. Large felt too loose to keep warmth in.

This is a great lightweight down jacket that will keep you very warm in frigid environments as well as an everyday jacket for mild weather and doesn't make you sweat. I always wear a medium top, being 5'6" weighing 165 and this medium is VERY snug on me. I'd advise buying a size up.

Fantastic casual jacket to keep you warm and feels very comfortable. Loved the extra pocket inside during a ski day in Colorado - my gloves and other items fit perfectly inside them. The chest pocket was great for holding my wallet and some other items. I do recommend wearing a hard shell over the top of this to protect it while skiing but it withstood the test for me.

Wonderful jacket! I am using this mostly as a mid-layer under a shell jacket and it has been bomber! Love the packability of this jacket as well. As a standalone it's pretty lightweight but great to pull out of your backpack at a bike stop or ski transition.

This down jacket does exactly as it is advertised! It is the perfect insulation layer for winter mountain excursion's and serves great on it's own as an outer layer. The sleeves are the perfect length, and never stick out from the cuff of my shell jacket. The hood adjustment is wonderful and can fit under my rescue helmet, or over my climbing helmet.

Perfect for ski touring on cold mornings. Love how much it compacts down to get it out of the way for warmer ascents. Very comfortable and fits well.

Fits as an under layer without binding across the chest. Can also be worn as a single layer shell.

I purchased this hoodie after searching for many years for "The One". I've tried many different hoodies but the Illuminate is the first that is both super duper light and has style. I unpacked it, tried it on, and got like 3 compliments while trying it on. The cuffs on the sleeves are a nice addition, helping to keep the cold out and the hood fits well. I love this jacket, it has become my new go-to piece for any weather other than a down pour.

I use this at work ski patrolling and backcountry skiing. In temps over 10 degrees it's my go to puffy.

I love this puff so much that I own two of them. One in black for the city and one in pewter/alloy for my endeavors. This thing is warm like super warm. Plus you can stuff it into its own pocket and bam; you've got a plush firm pillow!

Very lightweight and packable. A great outer layer for when it gets chilly. I've been out in it on a windy hike in the 30's F and felt plenty warm with layers underneath. I also was out in the rain briefly and the water didn't soak in and it dried quickly. Stylish and comfy. My go to jacket for everything now!

If it's cold out and not snowing or raining, this is the best choice. I use this for all dry winter activities save belaying at an ice crag [unless it's a warm day]. This jacket works perfectly for ski tours where you take a snack break or hang out in the summit, ice or mixed routes where you wont be stationary for long periods in the very cold, or if you want another layer in the front country. For all those purposes, it neatly and compactly tucks away in your pack. It's also a great around the town jacket for the winter. If it's snowing or mixed precip, however, the exterior layer can get wet, dampening the down feathers and reducing the thermal effectiveness, so better to have a synthetic coat, or to layer a hardshell over the top. Overall, a brilliant addition to your apparel quiver. I'm 6'1", 190lb and the medium fits well.

How this jacket is so lightweight yet retains so much warmth is beyond me. To top it off the staff at OR are top notch. I can't wait to wear this thing out and get another! Thank you.

This is ideal for my needs. Not too bulky, keeps me warm in northern New England. When packed into itself, makes a great pillow!

I am an avid fly fisherman who often is standing in an ice cold river. This jacket is great because it's form fitting, the appropriate amount of warmth without causing me to overheat while hiking in and is easy to pack away if I no longer need it mid day.

Haven't had this jacket long, so I can't comment on its durability, but so far I'm impressed. Lightweight, warm, and a great fit for an athletic build (i.e. not too tight for climber's shoulders and lats). Great for a fall/early winter belay jacket, a throw-on-to-go-outside layer, or a mid-layer for colder weather. The hood is great and accommodates helmets without being too baggy otherwise.

Well rounded piece. Fits well with a harness ( albeit it not the best pocket access) and keeps close enough to the body to layer a hardshell over. When it comes time for you to stow it away it practically disappears. Keep ice tools and other sharp things a good margin away and you shouldn't have any problems with durability. The transcendent jacket comes with a little bit of a burlier face fabric for more rugged endeavors where pack ability isn't quite as pressing. Or if aerobic activities are in the cards the ascendant is a pretty solid choice as well.
All in all; if you're after a lightweight midlayer you'd be very hard pressed to get something better. It's tough to make an excuse to not bring it with you.

This jacket is incredibly warm. Great as a mid layer under a weatherproof outer in wet cold or as an outer in the dry cold. Does a great job trapping in the heat in the bitter cold. Extremely light and packs down small. More wind proof than I expected as well. 5'11 185 got the large and it fits very well. If I had to do it again would probably do a medium to layer under a little better.
