We've been enjoying these quite a bit. I appreciate that they are easy-on and easy-off and that they don't require my help. They have a nice wide toe box so they are comfy at the tips of the toes. The soles offer pretty good grip for a kids shoe, even on wet grass. They've been worn (almost) everyday since they arrived a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know if the waterproofing wore out because they were a little large when we bought them, causing the toes to bend more than normal, but we got these for our kiddo late August 2020 and the left and right no longer keep water out. They have gotten hard use as they are his favourite shoes. He finds them comfortable and relatively easy to put on. However, on our last hike there were some very wet and muddy trail conditions and both his feet got soaked. That was two days ago, and the foot beds are still wet. We're probably going to need to purchase new hikers before summer. The waterproof feature was great while it lasted.

Bought these for my child in Sept for a hiking trip. Has worn them about once a week since then. noticed last night, January, that the traction spikes on the bottom of the boot are falling off. seems like a lot of money for a childs boot for them to be coming apart after 4 months

My son likes these shoes and has worn them (occasionally) for almost a year. Overall they do fine at the playground where we get a lot of mud and standing puddles. The thing is I bought them for a camping trip at Big Basin Redwoods State Park - a very wet fairly cool environment. Within hours of our arrival at campsite my son "fell" in a little brook and completely immersed one shoe. His foot was soaked. The interior of the shoe was soaking. Did I mention we were in a rainy very damp environment? We were there for 3 days. My son wasn't able to wear these on any trails because they never dried out. Waterproof???! I think not.

This shoe ran big and looks like my grand daughers foot is swimming around in it. She complains of it rubbing and causing a sore on her foot. She is 7 years old and loves to run and play. I am disappointed in these, she has a pair of Mocs that she has had for 2 years but they quit making the girl colors so she tried this one. The shoe also does not look like it will last to long.

I got these for my daughter so she would have a pair of shoes she likes that would also keep her feet dry while her class goes out in the woods every morning. The first day she wore them to the woods, she came back in soaked to the skin. These are still good for outdoors, but for wet she'll have to wear rain boots I guess.

I've had these about a year, but I only wear them a couple hours a week. They are comfortable, but they are NOT waterproof. Both leak where the fabric attaches to the insole and always have, although it is worsening. Not what I expected from the Merrell brand, considering the last pair I had I wore for 7+ years on a much more regular basis. I should have returned them immediately. Lesson learned.

I could not imagine my 12 my year old hiking in these boots for any distance or of any challenging terrain. The boot is hard around the ankle, she would outgrow the boot before it could be broken in. And no laces??? Unless the boot was custom made for your child's foot your are left with a single velcro strap to tighten them up. They appeared to have some type of lacing system in the photos, but not. These are essentially "slip on" hiking boots, and with that I would have to come to the conclusion that they would be totally unsafe for anything than a walk to the corner store. I so much wanted to love them, they look great, very stylish, but lack total functionality for "HIKING"

These shoes are great but if you actually take them out you may as well throw them away after you use them. The insoles are glued into them and once mud and water gets inside they never dry out

We were excited to get our son a pair of Merrell's waterproof boots to match mom and dad's. However, on his first use on an easy waterfall hike, his feet got soaked and again on a second wet-ish hike. Disappointed that these don't keep his feet dry.

I live in the rainy Seattle area and was looking for a waterproof boot for my active 10 year old. Something that would keep his feet dry and hold up to his tough love. These boots quickly became his favorite. They lasted from April until July when ultimately he refused to wear them anymore. The stitching had come loose on the outside, letting water into the toe box where the sole quickly began to deteriorate. I took pictures, sent them in, cut the tongue as requested, and received a replacement in the Moab, which the stitching promptly began to unravel within DAYS. I took photos, sent them in and followed up a few times, but they have yet to respond after a few requests. Not sure what I would want done anyway since their shoes keep falling apart. It should be noted that the shoe that didn't have stitching defects, held up nicely. But what can you do with one shoe?

I took these during a week-long hike throughout the Smokies. It was raining a few of the days so I wanted a pair of shoes that were fully waterproof so my feet wouldn't get wet. Sadly, the mesh lining at the top of the shoes just don't fully keep water out after I stepped in a puddle (and even sprayed waterproofing spray on them to be safe). Good, comfy shoes, just not fully waterproof as they say they are.

This looked good in the ad but when my granddaughter wears it they look like clown shoes. I am very disappointed with what they look like on the foot. They are large in width and length. I am going to have to spend even more to get something that looks a little better, guess it won't be Merrell.

My kid liked the look and feel of the shoes. So it was very disappointing when the sole pattern came off. She was wearing them for about 3 days/week for few weeks to get used to them before a hiking trip. There are not much physical activities at an elementary school even on PE day. Now it's too late to get used to new shoes before the trip, we are hoping super glue will hold.

How on earth does a designer make door wear with these kinds of laces? Within 1 wear the lace snapped. In another week the lace snapped in the same place on the other boot. All the kids shoes and boots are ( with laces) are all designed the same. Never buying from this company again ...for kids.

I am writing regarding these boots....this is the second pair of Merrell Hiking boots my son has had. When I purchased his first pair the employee that helped us out said they were the best boots!! She HIGHLY recommended them!! Said he would out grow them before he wore them out. My son basically wore them about every day throughout the year and absolutely loved them!! Sure enough he out grew them and even though he wore them about every day and every where they still looked new!! Well I can NOT say the same regarding this pair!! He hasn't done anything different to these and they are falling apart!! He DIDN'T even have them a year when they started to fall apart!! Needless to say I'm NOT happy!! I feel like they are some cheap pair and quality instead of the expensive and SUPPOSED to be highly quality ones!!

We really liked the boots and were excited to see our son feeling confortable wearing them, so when the pattern of the soles in both shoes fell off it is needless to say that was unexpected. The shoes have not been even outside for hiking, this boots were supposed to be built for Rocky terrain and the playground of the elementary school was enough to tear them apart??
