These are my second pair of Salomon Winter boots and I love them both. My first pair are still going strong. The waterproof system that Salomon uses on these boots is way better than Gore Tex. These go with my hunting, snowshoeing and shoveling during the cold winter months.

The fit was good in length and width. There is a lot of vertical room in the toe area, which leads to the boot creasing and bending inward. This pushes on the top of my foot in a way I don't find pleasant. I'm hopeful that it will lessen as the boot break in a bit.

I wear these hiking all season long in Colorado. Whether in the snow, rain, or climbing 14er summits, these are the best. The only flaw like all salomon shoes in own is the shoe laces that do not stay tied and have to retie them almost every hour.

Just got these to replace my old winter hiking boots. I'm normally a men's size 9 US and for these I went a whole size up, size 10 US, so that I could wear comfortably with a thick wool sock. Unfortunately they are just way too narrow in the toe area. I'm not certain that I can hike comfortably in these for long periods of time and going up an additional size won't do anything for me as far as the width of the toe box. Salomon has things to learn from other companies that have really given great attention to a comfortable fit, especially in that toe box area.

These fit tight across the toe box and heel. The blood flow to my feet seemed to be restricted and my feet started to become numb. The tread of the boot seemed twisted and caused an unnatural outward flaring of my foot. To better explain, the outer front edge and inner heel portion of the boots were solidly making contact with the floor but without the sole being flat, it made my feet feel as if they were twisting inside of the boot. The boots looked nice enough and seemed to have quality material. I could only order medium width. Going up a half size isn’t the answer for me with this boot. Without the option for a wide width, I had to send them back.

Measured my feet to be 12 5/8" long so I ordered Size13 according to the size guide. The boots are really narrow. The worst part is the boots are pointed so one side of my foot jams into the toe box. Comparing the X Ultras to my old boots and found them to actually be 1/2" longer.....weird design.
