Warm, comfortable, fits well, however, if worn over sweaters, after 2 winters it is still necessary to pick feathers from sweater after each time worn.

Great AR insulating piece for the west coast. Fits true to size. Had issues with the main zipper breaking. Warranty is top notch but repairs can be finicky - esp. when trying to match colors. For the price (and the amount of down) I'd like to see more robust zippers used on this coat. It would elevate it to true Arcteryx quality IMHO.

This jacket looks very nice and is quite warm. Two Minor Complaints: 1. The zipper comes undone very easily. I had my jacket done up about 2/3rds of the way and had it come completely unzipped when hit with a hard gust of wind. 2. The XL fits me nicely around the chest, shoulders and back but the hips/waist is really baggy. It has a waist drawstring so that helps to make it look like a more tailored fit. As Arcteryx shirt/jacket sizes get bigger than a medium they slowly get proportionately larger around the waist vs the chest. From Large to XXL the waist to chest ratio increases more and more. I'm 6' tall, weigh 192lbs with a 44.5" chest and 32.5" waist and the XL is the size that fit me the best.

I bought this jacket to go along with a shell jacket for skiing. Great, light jacket, very harm, and blocks some wind. I wore it during a couple of windy days and it was great. However, after just a week of having the jacket, there's lots of feathers coming out of the jacket. At this rate, I wonder how long it will take before all the down is gone.

La fermeture clair ne tient pas en place peu importe le niveau auquel elle est situe. Impossible de porter un foulard ce qui empire la situation. Pour un manteau de cette qualit, ce n'est pas acceptable. Je suis trs du de mon achat.

I so wanted to fall in love with this jacket, it was a torturous, agonizing purchase decision but what are Arc'teryx doing!!??? My Gamma MX (size M) is perfectly tailored, a trim beautiful fit that's been well considered - it looks good. My Arro16 is a superbly engineered backpack and I thought all Arc'teryx apparel was this way, that's their USP in the outdoor world ..right? What happened with the Thorium arms!!??? They're soo baggy and completely mismatch the torso which fits correctly ..this doesn't impair performance of course but you do look odd, and I don't know about you but spending GBP 250 on a premium brand jacket only to look oddly proportioned like Michelin Man doesn't feel right. I am incredibly disappointed. Upon this alone I'm considering a return. Arc'teryx need to revise the arm pattern design fast - it's making them and me look silly.

I a little more than 5 ft 8 and athletic but rather slim. No fat, just muscle. The size S is just way too wide. I mean, I don't intend to three more layers including fleece underneath, do I? Just to be clear: I wear S and sometimes M in general, but this jacket's function asks for a snug fit. Please introduce XS or slim fit. Thanks!

I've had this jacket since November and use it for those days in NY where the temperature is between 30 and 40. First let me start with the positive, this is a very nice looking jacket, extremely lightweight and surprisingly warm. I was extremely happy with it and even recommended it to a few friends. Now lets fast forward to now 3 months later; the jacket has developed these micro-tears in the rear lumbar area and the feathers are protruding from these 2mm tears. Needless to say that I am very disappointed, I have other down jackets from other major manufacturers and have not experienced this issue with those.

After having this jacket for about 3 weeks or so the jacket recieved a small tear on the right sleeve after I brushed someone on the street! I thought that the jacket would be more durable due to it being made for outdoor activities, but I'm left quite confused now.

I have to once again negatively review an Arcteryx piece that I honestly love. The Thorium is very warm for how light it is. When I first saw this thing, I was sure that I was going to freeze. It's very lightweight and the down is a lesser fill than the Cerium has (850). I was warm in Montana during a snow storm with just a base layer down to about 20. I had my Atom LT as a backup but never needed it. With a shell I'm flaming hot! The look is great and the cut works well. The arms hang nicely and do not look sloppy but don't expose my wrists when I reach up either. It cold be a bit longer but this is not a parka or meant for extreme weather. Two critical feature let this jacket down however. The draw cord for the waist is nearly impossible to use without opening the jacket and using both hands to try to adjust it. When adjusted it HANGS OUTSIDE the body. Why would you want something hanging out of any jacket especially as a loop that could get hung up on something? The real killer here is the zipper. There is zero resistance on this thing. I zip it up under my chin and 5 minutes later is open to about 2 inches and keeps working it's way down. I can literally look down and open it up every time. SO annoying. When you adjust it somewhere in between it will work down and if you bend over or put your hands in your pocket.. yep opens right on up. I'm going to probably have to ditch this one and look at something with a real zipper.

After looking at a few options for a mid layer for snowmobiling I decided to go with the Thorium. I would wear this piece under a Gore Tex Pro Shell jacket and over a merino wool base layer. First ride out was recently with the weather at -30 degree Celsius. I have ridden out this cold before and was using the Columbia Omni Heat Shield jacket in the past, as this jacket was over five years old and torn in some spots I bought the Thorium. After a few hours outside I began to get cold. My core temperature dropped and I received a mild dose of hypothermia. Had to cancel the weekend ride as I slowly recovered. I am extremely disappointed with this jacket. And, I am beginning to realize these products are not made for the vigour's of the outdoors. There is a false sense of quality with many of these self claimed marketing statements that picture models outside in the middle of the wilderness wearing these jackets when the reality is this jacket is best suited for the city dweller as he or she steps outside for a minute as they cross the street to get to their overpriced coffee shop. Not a true outdoor jacket and dare I say outdoor company.

The jacket is ok, but not worth the price. My major gripes are: 1. Non-locking zipper. this is by far the most annoying part of the jacket. It slowly unzips around the neck as you move. 2. Tight Collar. If you are wearing a collared shirt under the jacket, zipping it up becomes too tight. And because it's tight, #1 turns to frustration from being annoying. 3. Loose down. it sheds down every time I wear it. My colleagues helps me remove it from my dress shirt when I arrive at work.
