I did lots of research before buying this coat and I am so glad I did! I wanted something that would keep me warm when walking around town and when I'm out in the mountains, something that I actually wanted to wear because it looked nice, something that was water resistant or water proof and something that had a hood. This coat checks all the boxes! It is nice and toast with a light base layer and when you have it zipped up with the hood on you can be outside for hours! I've worn it on 15 degree snowy days and so far it's been amazing. I would definitely recommend this as a town and mountain winter coat.

I bought this jacket ahead of a trip to North Dakota because I had no cold weather clothes after living in south central Texas for five years. It's pretty and functional.
The Austin airport terminal was cold, so I was glad to have the jacket. When I got off the plane in Bismarck, it kept me warm.
I recommend this jacket highly.

This jacket is warm, yet not heavy. I love the soft fleece around the collar. I love that it is insulated and adjustable around the wrists and bottom, so as not to let in any cold air. It is nice looking on, not a big puffy coat. And, it is just long enough to cover all essential places. I could not be happier with this purchase! (I usually wear a size med. for dresses and shirts, but got a large in case I wanted to layer.)

If you are looking for a jacket to withstand freezing temperatures this is a great option. I wore this jacket at a temperature of 28 degrees Fahrenheit and wore a base layer and a flannel and a zip up sweater from the same brand and I was overheating. I would recommend just to wear a base layer and a thin sweater if you aren't a very cold person. Keep in mind I still had mobility with 3 layers. I purchased the jacket in white and it's a true white. The inside of the jacket has a pocket to keep your money and ID safe, which I appreciate. I purchased the jacket in a size extra small. Over all this jacket is amazing. For reference I am 5'5" and weigh 135 pounds.

I bought this jacket for skiing. I used it for the first time today. It was very windy and cold with a"feels like" temperature of 0 degrees. This jacket was great for blocking the wind and I stayed warm.

This is a great coat for the cold MN winter. It is very warm, fits well. I did size up to have the availability to wear sweatshirt under it. I could have easily ordered my regular size.

Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I bought the jacket for my recent ski trip. I was brave and did not take a backup jacket just in case this one wasn’t warm enough. Turns out it was perfect. The jacket kept me warm on some cloudy, high teens, low 20’s temperature days. Super excited I purchased the jacket and look forward to using it for many more ski trips.

I have the original Lay D Down that I bought a long time ago (and also loved), so I decided recently to buy the new version since mine was starting to show its age (plus, after having two kids I was due for a larger size). The fuzzy collar is a great addition, feels more cozy (and it already felt cozy to begin with). And the new pocket on the arm is pretty cool, I'm not used to it yet but when I remember to use it it's nice and convenient. I should mention, in case anyone else is upgrading from an older coat, the interior pocket no longer has a hole for headphones. I doubt that will impact many people (I personally only use Bluetooth), but wanted to mention just in case.

I truly love this jacket, it's so comfortable. I love the comfort cuffs with thumb holes. It keeps the wind from coming through the sleeves. It also has an adjustable snap powder skirt that also keeps the wind from coming inside the jacket.

I bought this as a Christmas Gift for my Wife. And she is loving it! She loves the color and the fit. She says the coat has kept her warm during windy days. Doesn't feel the windchill go through it. The coat doesn't seem like it does much for the cold but it does! She loved the color of the coat. Matches her winter boats, also from Columbia.

So warm and the fit is very flattering! It's so versatile with all its functions. I usually need another layer but not with this jacket! It holds great in temps in the 20s to low 30s! Love it!

I've been searching for a warm coat and I was between this or the north face arctic parka (I live in northern NY and winters are brutal).. this by far wins in the warmth department! Whatever this Omni heat technology is.. it certainly keeps your body heat IN! I also chose this over the NF parka because of the little features of the warm fuzzy neckline.. no scarf is needed because of this! The warm lined pockets, and the side vents if your too hot are also a plus! I'm very happy with this piece! This does run true to size, but I actually went to a size medium only because I like my jackets to have room for bulky sweaters

I moved from the south up to MN so I know I needed a good warm coat. This one has by far exceeded my expectations! Not only is it adorable, it's insanely warm! I want one in all colors now!

I am in love with this coat. You can feel the quality right off the bat. The outside material is a smooth and almost silk like, it makes it look very high end. There are many parts of the jacket that make it worth the money. The OmniHeat interior down to the soft fur on the inside of the collar to protect the jacket from rubbing your face raw when it's zipped up. The hood comes off or you can keep the hood on and just take the fur off, isn't that convenient? The sleeves have tight spandex that you can put your thumb through and the inside of the coat has a section that is like spandex and clips together I think he front to make sure the cold air doesn't flow up from the bottom of the coat. There are pockets everywhere and I couldn't be happier.

It fits beautifully and is warm enough so far down to 40. I like that it is waterproof as it rains a bit here.

Nice looking jacket. I like all the bells and whistles it comes with. I was hoping it would be a little warmer but it's definitely one of the better jackets I've owned as far as warmth. I'm always cold and avoid outdoors in the winter because of it but this jacket has given me the opportunity to spend a few minutes out there with old man winter!

I needed a new coat after my last Columbia (of 7 years) was ready to be retired. I found this one, and knew that I needed it! I snowboard, so this coat still has the goggle pockets, but it also keeps you warm off the slopes (which isn't always true of snow sport coats). The fur around the hood is removable too, so that is also good for the slopes. One small thing, the hand cover things at the end of the sleeves are a little snug, but I expect them to loosen up a bit with time. Overall, it's a great coat that has received many compliments. I dig it.

This jacket is beautiful and very warm and comfortable. Its well made with many features including side zippered vents and thumb holes. I am a dog walker and needed something very warm for winter. I highly recommend this jacket. I also have a 3/4 Length Lay D Down which I love just
as much. Also the fur around the hood is detachable and the collar is high enough in front to keep your chin and mouth covered.

I had been needing a warmer winter jacket for the cold Chicago winters. This one has worked out great. The hood is very heavy and blocks the wind like no other jacket I have worn before. Would totally recommend

This jacket fits well and isn't bulky. So far we've only had temps down to 12 degrees F, but the jacket kept me warm. I love that the hood is detachable. I got a large so I could wear several layers underneath.

love the color, so far it hasn't been too cold here in MN, but it has been warm so far! only thing I would change is to make it a bit longer, But i should have purchased the longer version. I usually wear a medium and bought a medium. fits perfectly.
