I really like this jacket for my 6 year old. It is warm and the waterproof exterior is nice. The only thing I would change is the hood. It is attached via 3 or 4 buttons instead of with a zipper. The zipper would have been better to keep the wind out.

This is the fourth time I've bought this jacket for my son. It's always been stellar, warm, waterproof, everything you need in a kid's ski jacket. However, this one wasn't as big a hit. This one had a detachable hood. No big deal except that it attaches with only three snaps and there are huge gaps at the back of the next that let the wind blow right in. Not good when you're trying to stay warm. Still, I can't knock the quality of the jacket or how well it performs otherwise. We will still buy this jacket as the kids keep growing, as there's no better value in my opinion, but will have to pay more attention to the hood next time.

Bought the red for my child, and it's nice and bright to see him on the slopes!

Fits true to size. Not puffy...which is a positive for my son. There is enough room for thin base layers but nothing bulky (such as a hoodie) in our situation. If I go up a size, the arm length would be outrageously long. The fleece inner jacket is easy to unattach/reattach. We will try it out on our first ski trip in February.

My boys love these jackets, except that the fleece liner on the inside tends to make them hard to put on and take off in the winter. They wear sweaters/sweatshirts most of the time, and the fleece tends to "stick" to that material and makes it hard to put on and take off the jacket without the sleeves turning inside out. Other than that, these jackets keep them warm.

Hood is attahced only with a few buttons and velcro which is not ideal for skiing andsnowy play. Sleeves seem way longer than my 6 other Columbia jackets. And the omni-heat is on the inside (buffered by the fleece layer) so its potential is not maximized. Disappointed, I love Columbia!!

Inner lining does not have an anchor to outer lining where tags are in the back. Hood detaches from body of jacket too easily. Hood does not fit around a ski helmet. No powder skirt. Otherwise it seems to keep the wearer warm and dry for about a couple hours of either free play in the snow or skiing. For the price, I think there are probably better skiing and snow play jackets available.

I wanted to love this jacket, but my 7 yr old son has a really hard time using it. The fleece liner keeps getting pulled out and stuck when he puts his arms in and takes them out. There is a snap that holds the arms of the liner to the arms of the shell but we needed one more snap or a way to hold them together in a better way. The arms keep coming out and it's impossible for him to get them to go back in. Teachers at school have asked that we supply him with a different jacket.

I'm a bit disappointed with this version, I bought the same coat for my daughter last year and hers had a very fuzzy, warm liner, loops inside to hang the jacket on a hook, and in general seemed to be a bit higher quality. The fleece in this one seems very thin and not very good quality.

Jacket is definitely well made and warm, but the interior fleece lining just causes issues. 1) the sleeves are longer than the outer shell. 2) It's only attached by a single button on one side. In hindsight I wish I just bought a jacket without a detachable inner lining...since we'll probably never use them alone anyway. If your child is sensitive to layers being bunched up.....stay away.

I'm really disappointed in this coat. It is a very thin fleece with a shell. I could see wearing it in the autumn but definitely not during winter months in New England. I will be returning them.

This is a nice jacket. However not made for NY winters. Will have to return for something else. The Jacket is super thin. It would helpful if we could see the inside of the jackets on the website.

I bought this jacket for my 6 year old last winter. I was excited about the outgrown feature and hoped that we would get at least 2 winters worth of use out of it. Since day 1, the zipper has been almost impossible for him to pull and close without adult help. The detachable hood seemed like a nice idea until kids at school pulled it off and it was lost on the playground. It might be a good jacket for some kids, but it didn't work out for my active boy.

Bought a boys and girls version of this for our kids, within the first year during a wet snow on multiple occasions it leaked through pretty badly in an area of the jacket that could only come from a leak.
