More like slippers than shoes. Even with a high-arch support insole added, I felt that they would be better for wearing around the house, and less shoes that you could walk in all day. Beware if you have foot issues like plantar fasciitis, there isn't a lot of lateral stability that helps hold your foot in place on whatever insole you might add. In general, lace-up shoes or Merrell Jungle Mocs are better, I think.

I returned the slipper because of the moderate arch support (I need better) it was too small, only moderately comfortable and I did not like how high the top of the shoe felt on my foot. I have rheumatoid arthritis and very poor feet. This slipper would not have helped me in any way.
