I've been wearing Sambas for at least 20 years because they are always consistent, comfortable, and cost effective. The construction and materials of this pair and the last are not the same. My last pair were cloth inside the heel cup and down the inside. The new pair are leather in the heel and down the inside. New pair seem nicer. Maybe there are different types of Smabas?

I thought the regular sambas were the best shoes till I found the all leather Sambas.

My first purchase of Samba was back in 1984. Since then, there has always been at least a pair in my shoe closet. They are durable and virtually indestructible. With the older, worn down Sambas, I would not bother slipping the heel in but step right on it and convert them into Samba slippers or clogs, thereby further extending their lives. Samba's classic design can be worn from indoor soccer courts to most business meetings. Indeed, it's a good match for any type of attire from soccer kits to business casual, and can be worn on most occasions. The fit is neutral - it takes a few days to a couple weeks to fully break in and conform to your foot shape. Once broken in, it becomes part of your foot and it is as comfortable as most hi-tech primeknit shoes though not as breathable and light. These are not light shoes for those who are accustomed to featherweight running shoes but it makes up for it by providing structure and support only a good quality leather shoes can. I will continue to have a pair of Sambas as long as Adidas keeps making them.
