These are an excellent police style boot for long patrols with lots of walking and standing. The cushioning and padding are excellent via the very thick and shock absorbing vibram outsole. The sizing is about perfect and the build quality is excellent. The heavy duty construction and thick padding of this boot does mean that it is heavy and stiff but it will break in nicely. This may not be the best boot if you expect to do a lot of running or fighting just because of the weight. If you are not familiar with Danner, almost all of their boots are on the heavier side. If you are looking for a boot that is light weight and athletic feeling, try Magnum. If you are looking for a well padded, well built boot that will hold up to duty use, these Danner Striker Bolts should be an excellent choice.
I'd also recommend:
Altra, Magnum, Sketchers, New Balance. Saucony.
