Excellent military boots. They look a bit different from the norm though. I just finished my first deployment with these boots and they performed terrific in the harsh desert climate. I plan on buying another pair in the future. The Zappos staff was very helpful as far as estimating what size I needed and the next day shipping is always great. Thanks!

Great if you want a mid-high, lightweight warm/hot-weather hiking shoe that DOES NOT HAVE Gore-Tex or other hot, sweaty 'waterproof' lining. Not great when it gets cold out, as expected. These are reputed to fit small. Bought 1/2 size larger than I wear in Keen low tops, fit fine. Replaced the footbeds, no biggie. Unfortunately, after just over 2 years of light use(slight wear visible on sole lugs from easy 1 hour hikes maybe 60 days a year), the toe guard and sole are separating at the glue line. Lame. Lame. Lame. Glued rubber lightweight hiking boots that cost around $200 should last at least 5 or six years before self-destructing. I'd expect this quality from the $30 Chinese-made specials at Big 5, not from Lowa and not for near $200. Use 'em fast, beat the disintegration blues.

These boots are the most comfortable shoe of any kind I have ever owned. This will be my 6th pair..I wear them every day, and they last about a year. It is the rubber sole that wears out. The non-Goretex version is well ventilated and still comfy in hot weather; the Goretex version is just as comfortable but slightly warmer. For long hikes or backpacking I prefer different boots with a stiffer Vibram sole.

The boots are comfortable, stable, well made, & fit well. However, I ordered a size 11.5 & was sent a 10.5. I tried them on & they fit, so they're good to go. Thanks

This was/is my go-to desert solution for the mountains around Phoenix. Unfortunately one the soles of this second pair disintegrated during my first time using them. The tread is crumbling and the lugs are shredding badly after only a couple miles. I will be repurchasing the same boot, only the beige color with gum rubber, which lasted 100-200 miles. The Zephyr Mid TF is otherwise perfect, especially when you don't want a waterproof liner or goretex. Excellent boot for dry summer or even somewhat wet conditions--they dry fast! The boots require minimal break-in and are super comfortable yet ridged enough for long hikes or backpacking. Replacing the insoles with custom is understood prior to purchase. There is just something seriously wrong with the soles for this color of the boot. The updated sole compounds are absolutely unusable

UPDATE to my earlier (2019) review: CANCEL my complaint about the sole separating at the front; the "separation" turned out to be a pseudo split that never progressed. As of July 2021 these are still fine, no defects whatsoever. Since I use these ONLY for hiking, not everyday around town/at work use, they are still in good shape. The soles show wear due to desert hiking (lots of sharp rock surfaces), but all is as expected and hoped. The laces were squeaky when tightened at first. Will buy again.

Ordered these for my husband to replace an old pair. He got the old pair during a deployment to Afghanistan, and absolutely loved them. He's been wearing them for 8 years, however after the first few years only for running around in the woods rather than for everyday wear. The only reason he's replacing them is because the tread on the bottoms is now worn down. He got a new color and plans to use the news ones for leisure rather than work. He loves these boots so much! He wanted me to try them on to see how comfy I thought they were, and with my high arch, I find them less comfortable than he does. He's more of a flat arch. He says they are the best outdoorsman boots he's every had. He thinks they are comfy for regular everyday wear too. This boot gets a thumbs up from us!

My husband bought a pair of these boots in 2012, and just now replaced them with a new pair from Zappos. They have held up that well! He describes them as a performance sneaker feel in a boot made for the elements. As always, Zappos shipped them quickly. We love that! He couldn't be happier with these boots. We highly recommend them!

Got them for work and these are definitely worth it! Fit true to size, extremely comfortable in my opinion. Fast break-in time and color is spot on. I’ve always been hesitant about buying online w/out trying something on. But this purchase didn’t disappoint. Extremely fast shipping. Great customer support. I recommend Zappos to everyone!

I have this boot currently on a deployment. They feel absolutely amazing. They look a little different than most boots but they are definitely top tier for the price. They also break in very quickly. Only took what feels like a day. They are very durable. Work well for Rocky or sandy areas it's holding up really well

The Lowa boots were well built! The left boot was fine and fit perfect because I ordered 1/2 size up from my shoe size. The right boot had a hard knot where the tongue was sewn in and hurt the top of my foot. I wore them in the house hoping the knot would flatten out but it didn't. When you pay $230.00 for a boot you expect perfection, so reluctantly I returned them ! I was truly disappointed!

This amends my review of March, 2019: The sole/upper separation that I thought I observed at the toe never progressed. Boots are still fine 5 years later. I bought another pair in the slightly darker coyote color since the lugs on the soles had worn down a bit. One note: Both pairs of Lowa Zephyr Mids that I have owned---2016 and 2021--- developed creaky, squeaky laces after being used a few times. They creak and groan as you're tightening them and ceak and groan as you walk. Solution: Buy another pair of generic laces of matching length.

love the look of these shoes and was so excited. unfortunately, wore these standing inside for 1.5 hours at retirement and my feet were killing me. I couldn't wait to change shoes... and my alternative was wearing heels

The length and width felt good, however with the original insole the shoe was too tight over the to of the ball of both my feet; on the shoe this was at the end of the laces towards the toes at the three lace loops. I suspect that if the double stitched patch had more room these would have been great for me. Without the insole it fit near perfect without the pressure, however I would not have had good foot support. I also tried without laces in the single loop and the first set of loops at the toes however that was still not enough to relieve the tight spot. I also considered trying to find insoles that were thinner however I opted not to as I would probably miss the foot support. I have size 8.5 and somewhat wide feet. Brooks Cascadia fit my feet great.

This is my FIFTH pair of Zephyr TF boots. I wear them daily for work in all seasons in Virginia, hike in them, walk in them, workout and run in them. I am not particularly hard on them (I learned a few pairs back that exposure to lots of solvents, and walking on lots of metal will shred the soles faster). Overall, they fit better than any boot/shoe I have ever owned. They fit like a glove out of the box, and I sometimes think of them as a highly supportive armored sock! (I could sleep in them, and they require zero break in period). I LOVE that they don't have goretex, they breathe. I live where it gets wet and rainy and they dry FAST, and keep my feet fungus free, plus they breathe well and keep my feet cool in the summer (I hate goretex for that reason). The reason I am giving them a one star review, is that no matter how delicate I am with them, the SOLES wear out in about a year and a half. One pair lasted less than a year, and LOWA/Zappos gave me a new pair for free... but still, for a boot of this quality the soles should last longer... the uppers look almost new, yet I have to buy new shoes because I have worn clear through the rubber, through to the foam mid sole... I WISH they offered them with a better compound or VIBRAM soles... I just can't justify the lack of durability at this price. I am sad, that after FIVE+ pairs of these I will be looking elsewhere for my next pair.
