Over the years I've tried several travel duffels and they all have their limitations. Some don't last more than a few overseas trips, others just don't offer enough packing space, or they suffer from bad design. I recently purchased the ORV Trunk 30 for use on a trip that is coming up in a few weeks. Right off the bat, when I unpacked it from the box, I knew I was looking at something special. I'm already impressed with the construction, design, features, and the amount of packing space. I really like the Bi-Tech Wet/Dry Compartment. I'm going to be traveling with rubber boots for wading on the surf and that's where those things are going on the way home. Perfect!
I also travel by air often with camera accessories and the interior is cavernous compared to my other rolling duffels. It will be easy to pack a collapsible photo backpack, tripod, a bunch of battery chargers, memory card readers, and laptop accessories, as well as, enough clothing for an 8 day trip, and an extra pair of shoes.
The construction of this trunk is amazing. Looking back at all the times my other bags have been destroyed by baggage handlers, I've inspected these parts of the bag and they look like they will last a long time. I've had the telescoping handle broken, the rear plastic runners torn off, zippers busted, and outer shell materials scuffed to shreds. I don't think this bag will ever suffer these mortal wounds.
I know I'm providing this review before even using this product, but with over 35 years of air travel, and to some rather remote locations, I'm very confident this bag will outperform everything I've used previously. 5 stars!

As a SCUBA diver battling airlines with baggage fees I needed a strong durable yet lightweight bag to transport my fins wetsuit BCD regulators and my clothes for trips lasting up to eight weeks. This bag allows me to pack everything I need in one bag at less than 50 pounds. It has been all around the world on dozens of trips and has only minor mirth marks despite the best efforts of baggage handling. The case is easy to manoeuver with those large "off road" wheels that hop curbs with ease. I Bought 2 originally (one for my partner) and was so impressed I bought a third for those trips where we absolutely needed to take an extra bag

I search high and low the perfect check in suitcase. The suitcase needed to be rugged to take the beating of 25 flights. I needed volumes of space to store everything I would need for 3 months of traveling on an expedition around the world. Lastly it needed to be mobile, to get around the airports, hotels and such, with durable wheels and a sturdy handle. I found the perfect suitcase in the Eagle Creek OVR Trunk 30.
This duffel style bag uses an ultra-rugged ballistic nylon material. It has an interior capacity of 6,225 cubic inches or 102 liters. The dimensions are 16" x 30" x 14" in or 41 x 76 x 36 cm. The total bag size at 60-combined-inches is comfortably under the maximum allowable check in size requirements which are 62" for international travel.
Security was a big concern for me. I travel with a lot of expensive gear including a laptop computer, high end still camera and video cameras, tripods, batteries, chargers, cables... When I am at a hotel I need to have some degree of security for the items I leave in my hotel room when I am out seeing the sights. The Eagle Creek OVR Trunk 30 has a brilliant locking system that secures the main zippers and access to the interior of the bag with a simple lock. This is not full proof but it adds a degree of protection to deter the opportunity thief from making off with my essential gear.
From time to time I will have damp clothing from bathing suits and recently washed clothing. The OVR Trunk 30 has a wet/dry compartment that is separate from the rest of my clean cloths.
There is an interior utility net that can helps to compress the content of the bag. This net is fully detachable and can clip on to the exterior of the bag to store additional gear.
Summary:
I have one word to describe this bag QUALITY. The materials used are top notch, the construction is excellent. I must congratulate the designers of this bag. They really thought through the travel process to create a superb product. Little things like oversized zipper pulls to get in and out of the bag easily, exterior compression straps, and numerous lashing points. I am in good company in selecting this bag. It won the "best luggage" Travel Award Winner for 2014 from Outside magazine and was selected by Best Gear Reviews as best in class.

This is a great bag for everyone who travels for long periods.
The boot trunk holds alot of space when deployed. Would suggest that they come up with a ridged plastic incasement for holding its form.

I've taken this bag on two 10-day trips...the first to Ethiopia, and the second to Morocco. On each trip it easily endured the air travel as well as daily handling when I moved throughout both countries. Together, that equals 20 days of baggage handlers, bell hops, daily use as my traveling dresser, traversing dirt and gravel paths, and occasionally serving as my seat. While it should be expected for the bag to be able to handle this, what suprised me is that it is showing no wear at all. No scuffed plastic, no stains...nothing. I simply wiped it down with a damp cloth after each use and it looks and operates like new. There are handles anywhere you will ever need them, pockets galore, and the wheels are stout.
Now, like all rolling duffles, you will get some 'side bulge' , but I have not had any slouching when the bag is upright. I attribute the lack of upright slouching to the robust base and frame structure.

I bought this bag to be my primary travel bag. I mostly drive but have checked this bag in on multiple flights. It is not as good for flights as it is for road travel. When my bag was opened some items fell out. It needs a second web to hold items internally.
I have carried this bag in every weather imaginable. It rolls awesomely, keeps my clothes dry in wet and snow, and will even work in the bed of a pickup in medium rain. No wear so far. Holds a ton of items.
I highly reccomended this bag.

I travel in areas with rough terrain or where I'd like to do some day hiking and want to take my hiking boots, but they take up so much space in the interior of the bag. Also on occasion I may hike then dash to the airport and my boots are dirty so I don't want to pack them in the interior of the bag. FINALLY a sizable exterior compartment that locks and fits my boots. Win, Win! I purchased this bag for that purpose. I am starting with the Trunk 30 in this bag style and will add to my collection with the carry-on --- can't wait. The brick red color is perfect...sophisticated, understated and like no other bag colors that you usually see on the baggage carousels making it easy to spot. Thank you Eagle Creek.
All my luggage is Eagle Creek and I use the packing system accessories for efficient packing. I organize clothes/items when I pack into athletic gear, beachwear, evening dress, casual dress, jammies, undies, etc. and the packing systems are perfect for this level of organization. Plus this bag is roomy enough to manage how I organize. Keep up this type of design innovation. I give it a 4.5 rating!!!!

Great product with big capacity to fill in except for the wheels. Wheels are not very smooth so you have to drag it.

I travel internationally a lot and I love Eagle Creek products, but this bag is really awkward. The zippers are really difficult to use to close the bag up. The bag itself just feels really bulky and heavy. There is no real good way to cinch up the sides to tighten it up if you don't fill up the bag as the top part is a hard side and not malleable. I was hoping for something that I could use for lighter and heavier long trips (2 weeks), but this isn't it.

This bag is great for extended ROAD trips but I found it too bulky for airline travel. When checking the bag at the departures desk if the bag is full it will be overweight. If the bag is not full, the sides sag outward and it looses shape.
When this happens it doesn't fit through some of the luggage belts I have encountered.

I bought this bag because of the ability to pack a lot of items and the additional protected storage for shoes and dirty clothes. I normally travel with the 22" Load Warrior carry on, but I am taking a month long cruise going to several different climates requiring more clothes and shoes for excursions. When I packed as if I was going on the trip, I discovered I was going over the 50 lb airline limit and there was still room to add more stuff. It was too much bag and the bag weight took up 20% of the 50 lb. airline limit. I am returning this bag and getting a smaller Gear Warrior that is lighter and will be under the 50lb limit.

The website... and the tags on the bag suggest how to load this thing... But no one stocks the protect-it cubes. The Mud box has also been discontinued. So much for a nice system that goes with this. This eliminates a major reason for buying this bag. I actually think it is a great bag but there was another brand that I passed over because of these items... It was well built, weighs less but these had the cubes... except they don't...

Very 1st trip on the return flight the zipper broke completely off the boot/shoe pocket. My boots had to be located in the belly of the plane and brought out to me at baggage claim.

i bought two as gifts and the outside material is breaking down. I did read reviews regarding this issue. Sorry to say i am having the same issues. 4-5 airline trips and it looks as if they will not make it to 10 trips. They are scuffed up really bad and other brands used at the same time same trip have no wearing issues. I would seriously avoid buying this bag. its is a very poorly build bag and i am surprised this passed the QC process. I am requesting a replacement and/or my money back. Overall the size is very good.
