I bought the women's fit global pack as preparation for a bug out bag ! The straps are fully adjustable with a hip strap to make sure it fits snug. There are a bazillion pockets and spaces to put things. I am very happy with my purchase!

I carried this bag for 3 months in India and South Africa and am so impressed by how sturdy it is! I traveled by public transport and checked my bag on 6 flights, so it's been thrown around a lot and held up. I researched several bags and chose this one for the locking zippers and because the design makes finding things and packing so much easier than a top-loading backpack. It holds quite a lot - I managed to cram in a tent, Therm-a-Rest, and sleeping bag in addition to my clothes and toiletries.

I got this backpack because I'm going on a trip and my camping backpack wasn't going to cut it. It's super light and really comfortable. Easily packable too. The rain fly and separate shoe compartments are rad. I was hoping for more little pockets for random things that are nice to have on hand but I'll live.

This backpack is great! I pack carryon only and plan on taking this to the Holy Land next May. It fits my body perfectly. The compartments make it easy to keep things organized. The weight is distributed well so no sore shoulders.

The travel type is wide ranging. I can be checking into a luxury hotel and staying for a week or two, or I can be hiking from one little village to the next. I used to have several different types of carryon luggage, but since discovering the Global Companion 40L, I am in love and have converted to exclusively carrying it. I recently took it as my luggage for an 8 day trip to Russia. Despite the cold weather and the bulkiness of the necessary clothing, I was easily able to fit everything that I needed into the bag. I love the laptop sleeve and zipper to access it, the extra pouch in the bottom for shoes, the deep front mesh pocket, and the fact that it opens flat like a suitcase. Since purchasing my bag, I am going to buy two more to give to my children for when we travel together. And I keep looking at the 65L wondering if I need that in my life for those occasions when a carryon just won't quite cut it....

I just received my 40LW in Concord. WHAT a back pack.! I love, love, love it. I am going to Africa and I am only allowed 44 lbs., I am almost 70 years young, and I just keep going no matter what. I can easily carry this back pack and I love the way it opens like a regular suitcase. I bought expensive luggage two years ago with easy turn wheels. Well, it's going out for yard sale. I'm so happy I found Eagle Creek. I'm getting the matching color rolling duffel next. You cannot go wrong with this company for all of your travel needs. Thank You Eagle Creek. One less thing I have to worry about when going on adventurous or lazy vacations. And oh so light weight, lots of room for bringing home all those t-shirts we really don't need but just have to have.

I like it because it eliminates wheeling a traditional carry-on suitcase over rough, wet or snow covered streets, climbing steps, (both indoor and outdoor) etc. It is also very light weight, having about a five pound advantage over soft side wheeled models which will save you airline overweight fees. The built-in rain fly and storage pockets are great! Perfect for traveling in the US, Europe or more developed South American countries (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay), but would be cautious in places prone to petty theft, as people will slice into a pack with a razor to remove items, even while you wear it.

I love my Global Companion 40L W backpack! I just tested it out on a 3-day trip and it was wonderful. I bought this as a replacement for a carry-on suitcase because it made it easier to walk faster through airports and climb stairs. I compared this brand to some competing products and felt this one had a better fit and better design. I am 5' 3" with a short torso and this bag fits me fine. It adjusts in so many ways, has very good padding, and the load lifter straps are a nice touch. I was able to haul it through large international airports without difficulty. It fits quite a bit of stuff, plenty for a three day trip. The two lockable zippers are nice and work well with Eagle Creek's TSA approved locks. I like that you can access the electronics pocket in the back without opening the whole bag. The whole bag opens like a suitcase. It works well to use packing cubes. The compression straps help you reduce the size of the pack and keep the weight closer to your body. I used the shoe pocket as a place to stuff my packable daypack. The top pocket holds sunglasses well. The side pocket on your waist is very handy. I was able to fit a narrow 1L water bottle in the water bottle pocket and had no trouble with the compression strap going around it. Best of all, the bag qualifies as a carry-on (check with your airline). It fits in the overhead of a CRJ200 regional jet without smashing it down. The only thing I'd like to see changed on this bag is for a way to cover up the straps in case you want to check the bag. The rain fly does not work well for this purpose because in order to keep that secure, you have to cover up the top carry handle and then there is no way to pick up the bag by a handle. I would highly recommend this backpack to anyone who doesn't want to drag around a suitcase and wants to speed through airports by not checking a bag. Happy customer here!

I bought this bag for a two and a half week trip to Italy and Greece. I packed it to the brim and was impressed by how much it carried, including a pair of sandals and heels, several shirts, skirts, shorts, a cardigan, hats, and a light jacket. When the bag was fully packed, I ended up having to walk about 3 miles to reach the ferry. It was super hot, but my back wasn't soaked in sweat, which was great. But, my shoulders did hurt by the time we got to the ferry. This may be because I just packed too much, but it isn't a pack that I want to use for hiking long distances fully packed. Overall, though, the pack worked great on my trip, and I would buy it again!

So I did a lot of humming and hawing before deciding what bag I would get to use as not only my general carry-on but my carry-on for shipping off to Africa with the Peace Corps. What sold me on the Global Companion was good reviews and the clam-shell style opening it afford me. I like this bag a lot, it's accompanied me around the U.S. for quite a few flights, and most recently it came with me to Thailand. So far everything has held up wonderfully. It's been chucked around and abused a fair bit, but it looks good as new. It holds everything I need a carry-on to hold and is much more portable than my hard-case standard carry-on luggage. If I had any complaints, it would be that the bottom pocket it a bit small to hold the rainfly, so the velcro doesn't stay sealed. The front pockets are also almost useless for holding anything for consequence that would already be in my purse. I like the organizational features in them, but they're pretty tight for much more than keys. The top pocket is great for holding the bigger stuff like my passports and boarding passes. It's comfortable, it looks good, and overall it's a great sturdy bag for travel.

I figured I should write a review after carrying my pack for the last 8 months. It's served me extremely well and I'm glad I purchased it. It sits nicely in my hips, is comfortable, roomy and has nice additions. I'd say you definitely need packing cubes since it's just 2 compartments but that's not too bad. One thing I think the pack needs to be improved on is the rain cover. It works well when you don't have anything in the mesh pockets, i.e. your water bottle. The cover doesn't allow the pack to be completed covered with a bottle in the pocket and can be write frustrating when it starts raining out of the blue. Other than the rain cover, this backpack is great!

I just used the men's version of this backpack (can't find it on the EC website) on a 2 week trip to New Zealand and was very pleased with it. Even stuffed to the brim it is very comfortable to carry with the nicely padded shoulder straps, chest strap and hip belt. You can fit a great deal into the two large interior pockets so long as you are not trying to pack a large item such as a square box since each interior pocket only has so much depth. The underneath pocket is a nice feature for stowing items such as shoes, a travel pillow or a dopp kit although it does use up space in one of the interior pockets. The laptop space is very nicely designed, as are the locking zippers and grommets. One downside is that unlike many travel backpacks there is no storage place to tuck away the shoulder and hip belts out of sight, and they do occasionally get caught on other items in the overhead bins. This could have been cured by giving the hidden rain cover the same capability as on the larger model of this backpack to completely cover it and add a carry handle, but the 40L doesn't have that capability. Another is that the outside front pockets are very small and narrow with very little room for anything other than flash drives, pens and other small items. The middle large outside pocket is a great place to stash a larger item (I used it for my Bose headphone case), but a better design may have been to add a large outside flap like other travel backpacks that would give you more room to store papers, small electronic items, etc. Overall, however, after looking at the many possibilities, none of those were major concerns, I chose this pack and was very happy I did.

I use this travel backpack for weekend trips. I was able to pack for 3 days in Vegas. I fitted several outfits, pjs and three heels plus all my toiletries. I'm a petite women and it was easy for me to carry everything. It's great having the laptop compartment in the back but the shoe compartment takes a lot of room if you place three heels in it. Overall, would recommend to friends and family.

This product is almost the perfect travel carry-on bag- needs to have detachable straps/stow-away straps and hip belt, and ideally the laptop pocket would be separated off with it's own zippered access rather than reaching in with all your other gear stuffed inside to wrestle in/out. I've searched high and low and I wish these two items were different because I cannot find a bag that meets all the things I'm looking for as of yet, and this almost did it. Hoping for one that does in the future.

I have used and loved Eagle Creek products in the past. Their compression packing cubes are great. But this bag was a complete disappointment. It said 40L but it wouldn't even fit everything my other 40L bag fits with room left over. The first time I tried to do up the zipper inside it got all messed up. Once you pack the back section good luck getting a laptop in. Once you pack the front good luck getting anything into the shoe area. Also once it's packed the rain cover compartment velcro doesn't stay closed so that's likely to fall out. And once you pack both inner sections good luck getting the bag zipped. And I wouldn't say I was "overpacking it" because like I said I was trying to move from my other 40 L bag into this bag and I took about 25% of my items out and it was still giving this much trouble. I'm giving this two stars still because the design (in theory) of the bag is great. I love the way it opens up like a suitcase and if you were taking this and not trying to pack it full (or close to full, basically just mostly leaving it empty) it could be a great bag. But for me personally I travel long term with a 40L and this bag just doesn't cut it. And I had quality issues with my bag already but I've never heard of people having issues so I might of just got a bad one. I really wish this bag would have been better because I was very excited for it but, for me this was not a good experience.

Bought this for a big road trip, I really liked that it was sporty and could be great for future adventure travels. But when it arrived it could fit way less than I pictured. My partner has the E-Bags - Mother Lode Weekender Convertible and it fits SO much more than this one. I ended up not taking the Global Companion and using my rolly carry-on instead. Will be returning this one - also disappointing that I have to pay the shipping to send it back - not my favorite

I used this for the first this weekend, and I am disappointed. The stitching on the velcro found on the bottom of the backpack came undone while I was packing for the first time. This backpack was the only thing I asked to receive for my birthday, and now I wish I asked for something else. For the price my husband paid, I expected better quality.
