This pack is amazingly designed. Simple yet great for organization. The perfect size for what I need everyday when I am going to work, climbing, class, holds my books, and my lunch. The clips in the middle are perfect so that my keychains or whatever else I carry doesnt swing everywhere and hit me or something else. Hold my over ear headphones, journal, two books, necessities, water bottles, and laptop with charger. Plus snacks in the front pocket so nothing gets crushed at the bottom! Cant go without those.

I am 6'1 but really wanted a ~15L backpack that I could use for commuting because I always find 18L + packs way too bulky and this backpack has been perfect. My 13-inch mac fits perfectly (without a case/sleeve however but that hasn't been a problem). I typically ust carry my computer, 1-2 notebooks, and a novel in the main compartment and there is plenty of room. If you are in school and carrying multiple textbooks this might not be the pack for you but it is a ~15L pack afterall. There are adjustable straps around the water bottle pockets that you can either make looser or just unclip to fit a larger bottle in there. My 1L Nalgene even fits with a bit of work but a slimmer bottle really fits perfectly. There are 2 extra side pockets that are almost slightly hidden on the side (1 fairly small but one with quite a bit of space) that are perfect for sliding your pack to one shoulder and accessing your wallet, kindle, or snack quickly. Has not rained since I have had the pack but the material seems to be at least very water-resistant and the poncho that comes with the pack does look pretty awesome. It does take up a bit of space, however, so I would not recommend making it a permanent fixture in your backpack but it is nice to have and be able to add if you know you are in for a rainy day. I can see myself having this pack for quite a long time for everyday use.

This backpack is perfect for my commute to work. Now I don't have to worry about my leather backpack getting wet, I can fit ALL that I need in it, and still remain stylish. I've purchased two awesome messenger bags from Timbuk2 in the past. But this is my best purchase so far!

I received this backpack for free in exchange for an honest review. From an aesthetic standpoint, I LOVE this backpack. I love the Sea Water color. It isn't too feminine or masculine so both my boyfriend and I are comfortable using. There are several different pockets and areas of the backpack which makes it easy for organization. For me, it's a decent size. You could even fit a small laptop in it. However, I don't think this would be great for sport use since it's not really that large. The space for a water pouch is SO clutch. It's way more convenient than lugging around a nalgene with me. It comes with a rain poncho that fits into a small pouch. This is a really nice touch and I could definitely see myself taking that along for day hikes and to festivals. I wish the straps were slightly longer on this backpack. I'm used to backpacking and where they should sit and I feel like this one is a bit high for me. Other than that, I really, really enjoy this backpack

Great bag! The color is just fun and quirky. I love that it has a pocket for an aqua bag thing so that I won't get all of my other stuff slightly wet from having that in there. It came with a poncho also. This is a perfect bag to take when you are going on a small hike and want to pack some snacks and a blanket. You could use it for a lot of things.

I received a free sample of this bag in exchange for my review. This backpack came with some surprises, most of which were of the pleasant variety. First and foremost, there is a very indiscreet little pouch located in one of the sleeves that contains a very handy rain poncho. This was unexpected, but a great accessory to have, especially when on-the-go or traveling. Secondly, this bag has more pockets and compartments than I know what to do with. Whether you need a space for pens/pencils, important documents, identification, electronics, etc. This only adds to it being great for traveling, commuting, or a casual hike. Finally, it's a very manageable size. I suppose some men might find it to be too small for their liking, but it was refreshing to carry this bag. Even when fully packed, it would easily fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat of a plane. I also took it on the subway for my morning commute during rush hour and did not feel as obtrusive as usual given the size of the bag. The only con was the Sea Water color was a little more youthful and feminine than I thought it would be. I still carried it without giving it a second thought, and plenty of people will love it, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I brought this bag on vacation to Mexico, and used it everyday, both in the city, on the beach and going for hikes. I was continually impressed by the functionality of the bag. I could easily attach my sandals to the extra straps on the bag when I was at the beach, or attach my beach towel. The water bottle pocket came in super handy, and there were so many secret pockets that I could hide my valuables really easily, including my passport! The key fob was perfect to keep my AirBnB keys from all the different places we were, so even though the keys were changing, I always knew where they were! All in all, this bag was perfect. I didn't use the water reservoir option, because I didn't have a bladder, but other than that, used every other part of the bag. The straps were super comfortable, and the bag just looks super cool too! Highly recommended!

Pics on site are a bit misleading on size of pack. Its a smaller sized pack, however........I love it! Great smaller EDC pack with places for all my daily items. The addition of the included rain poncho is great! The poncho is made of great material as well. Would be 5 Star if the size was represented better on site. I am 5'10" 160 lbs and its a medium size on me.

I bought this in their store, and was leaning towards it because of it's compact size (I've been overloading my backpacks because of school, so I was hoping for a smaller backpack to prevent back issues and force me to pack lighter). It can't fit my Macbook Pro 13' with a case on inside the laptop pouch, but it can fit it without the case or just inside the backpack (with the case on, but not inside laptop pouch). It doesn't really bother me though, since I'm pretty gentle with my backpack, but for the more clumsy, it might be an issue. I also don't really like how small the hidden pocket is, as it can't fit my card wallet or my phone. Not really sure what I'm supposed to put in it... Also, the zipper gets caught on the fabric a lot, which can be annoying, especially for the price. The water bottle holders are super stretchy though, so it can fit pretty large water bottles. This backpack is great for hiking as well, in case it's too small to fit your day-to-day items.

I like having a backpack to grab when I'm out and about with my son, and was interested in giving this one a try. I love how many pockets there are and the included poncho was a pleasant and VERY welcome surprise. The quality of the bag, straps and construction is outstanding and I can tell that it will last a long time. This was my first experience with Timbuk2 and hadn't heard of the Collective Pack Sea Water prior to receiving this one, but compared to the backpacks I usually grab (one of my son's old school backpacks or ones that he's outgrown), this one feels much more sturdy without being too heavy. I am also into bike riding and like that I can use my hydration pack in this backpack, although I haven't actually used it like that yet. I checked and my pack does fit, so that's a bonus. The daisy chain loops are an added bonus so that I can put my shoes on there while riding with my clipped shoes, to be able swap them out easily without taking too much room. The only downside was that I briefly considered using this as my work bag to carry my laptop instead of using a roller bag, but the laptop pocket was about 1" too small. Your laptop has to be on the smaller side to fit. My 13" chromebook fit easily, so that something to take into consideration if you plan to use it in this fashion. I would both recommend this backpack to others and I would also place this in the top few choices if I needed to buy a new backpack.

This backpack is very cute and comfortable to wear. It also seems very sturdy. It comes with this cute little pouch that actually unfolds into a poncho, as well as removable straps that connect the straps over your chest. Overall it's a very nice backpack. My only real complaint is that it's almost too compact. I don't know how much I'd be able to fit in there. It would be great for something like a day hike though.

I originally expected it to be a little bigger but it is a compact backpack. I was pleasantly surprised that it fit a lot more than it seems like it would. The chest clip makes it super comfortable too. I am a grad student with a chronic illness so I have lots of doctor appointments and bring books and supplies to study while I wait. I am able to fit my MacBook 12 inch, school and personal planners plus paperwork/markers, and keys all in their with room for more. There are two slots for water bottles and all kinds of compartments for earbuds, chapstick and more. The poncho included is a nice surprise and it is surprisingly big enough to fit my 240lb husband. It can also be used as an outdoor blanket. I just couldn't figure out how to fold it back up as compact as it came so I just leave the poncho in the trunk of my SUV. I love the seawater color but wouldn't pick the army green as an accent. The material feels super high quality and the attention to detail on the bag is impeccable. I'm looking forward to purchasing a hydration bladder for hiking!

I've had the chance to use this backpack for a couple of months now and I wanted to do that before writing a review. Although I haven't had a chance to go on too many hikes with this backpack, I have used this as a quick gym bag. I am not one to bring a lot of things to the gym or while running errands and this has served excellently for it. It carries everything that I need for the day. It's comfortable and is very sturdy. Also very easy to clean. I spilt coffee all over it during one of my errands trip and it was very easy to wipe out without any longterm stains

I had high hopes for this backpack, and was only left with one disappointment. First - the positives. It's extremely high quality, and you can tell from the moment you touch it. I also love all of the various pockets and having a water bottle pouch is nice. In addition, the color scheme is a pleasant switch from the traditional black back pack (mine is aqua and forest green). The one and only drawback to this backpack is its size - it is a small backpack. If you want to use it for laptops, forget it. Ultimately, if you are wanting a smaller size bag, then this is a great option for you. The quality is simply amazing, and it's very functional for smaller items. If you're looking for a bag to transport your laptop, then I would suggest going with a larger TimBuk2 bag. Compared to other brands, the quality is unmatched (I can't stress this enough).

This backpack has a lot of great features. Tons of pockets for storage and enough loops for various sizes of carabiners, a must for a hiker. The color is a little bright, but it's still stylish. The straps are wide for shoulder comfort and the bucket front buckle does its job of taking weight off your back. I would recommend this pack for both students and casual day hikers.

So I got this backpack for my adventurous sister. She's a photographer and movie maker and she going to be traveling outside the U.S to Africa with her school and I knew this would a perfect gift for her birthday coming up. She carries around her laptop with her almost everywhere especially with a camera. The laptop fits perfectly in the pack, and other important items as well. However I wish there was more space and the raincoat is fairly huge. I guess it's to protect everything from the weather but I had such a difficult time trying to get the coat back in the small pack it came in. I don't know if it's supposed to go back in but I couldn't manage. Other than those two cons, this backpack is definitely good quality that I'm sure will last a long time, the color is beautiful and it's lightweight and comfortable to wear even if it's fully of heavy items.

I was disappointed. It isn't great as an about-town pack. Previously I had bought a couple of the packs atREI, and would do that again, but I don't think I would buy one online again.
