I was skeptical about purchasing these kicks after reading the underwhelming reviews but glad I did. I have walked about 4 miles in them on day one (normal NYC walking) and they're comfortable with no pain points. The leather on them is gorgeous and the quality of the [Portuguese] craftmanship (clicking, stitching, and assembly) is very nice. The soles are VERY well cushioned. If I have two detracting points: They do run narrow (the D is more like a B/C) and they're quite a bit heavier than a comparable sneaker in leather.

These look great and the quality of construction is terrific. One problem...they are incredibly uncomfortable and literally bloodied my heel and toe. Sizing is a bit odd in that they feel long and a bit narrow for the size. In any event, the comfort isn’t there and I can’t imagine a break-in period mattering too much starting at such a low level of comfort. I have other AE shoes and they are usually excellent...this pair is an exception.

Like other reviewers, I was nervous about purchasing these shoes as reviews were less than positive. However, my expierence has been very positive. No break in needed, no blisters, and very comfortable. Have received several comments about them.

I agree with those who wrote that these are initially a bit uncomfortable. They are not built like athletic shoes, they are made of thick, robust leather and are much more like dress shoes than sneakers. For that reason they are stiff when new and they gave me blisters on both heels after wearing them for half a day. I love the look and the quality though, so I am wearing those padded rings on my heels for a few days and then I believe they will be fine. But I would not buy them and immediately head off on a five mile walk without a backup plan. I will update my review if my opinion changes.

Comfortable right out of the box. The black leather style works with multiple pieces and is quite versatile. Good “vacation shoe” in that you can dress it up or down and is great on both concrete and dirt trails. Comfy footbed. Can’t go wrong with AE.

I also bought this pair for my husband, and he really really liked this dress tennis. They are expensive but well worth the additional dollars. The leather and craftsmanship of this shoe is incomparable.

I wish I could write a better review. I have owned Allen Edmonds shoes in the past and have been happy. These shoes are attractive and well made but as some other reviewers have said, they are stiff and painful to wear. Maybe they would relax and feel better over time but they're not worth the effort in my opinion. I don't need to walk around town stiff-legged and grimacing for two weeks.

Nice looking shoe. However, I wore them for 1 business day. Came home with 2 dime sized broken blisters on the back of my ankles due to poorly placed seams. Don't buy unless you plan to install heel protection inserts. That is what I had to do for an extra $10. Very disappointed and very painful. I expect more from AE.
