Ho comprato queste scarpe per escursioni di facile/media difficolt? per vacanza con famiglia. Devo dire ottime in quanto ad ammortizzazione ed utilizzo sui sentieri sterrati e roccia: leggera come una running, ma pi? protettiva. Per? non ? assolutamente impermeabile, non affidabili sulla tenuta su rocce bagnate. Ho preso un acquazzone della durata di un?ora. Sono rimasto asciutto in tutto il corpo perch? avevo abbigliamento tecnico pi? poncho. Purtroppo, indossando questo modello di scarpe ho terminato escursione con Piedi fradici. Il sistema impermeabile di queste scarpe non le rende tali, anche se il goretex dovrebbe esserlo. A questo punto, Spero che il goretex ci sia nella tomaia!!!Non scrivete che sono impermeabili !!!g

Traditionally I have used these boots for dry summer hiking in rugged bush conditions. They work well and are comfortable here. My last 3 hikes (over days) were in snowy wet and cold conditions. The boots fail badly and are not waterproof. I have hand washed the boots and treated with Nik Wax and Tech Water proofing. On my most recent trip I poured water out of the boot when I took it off, And when weighing the boot on a scale when I got home with the same water in was about 500g each heavier than dry weight which means and extra 1 KG of weight. I did not hike through streams and had long hiking pants on so the water got through the boot . After the first wet episode I tried additional waterproofing just in case but it did not help. Do not recommend at all for wet damp or snow conditions.

Als langjhriger Kunde von Salomon bin ich enttuscht ber den neuen Schuh. Geradeaus und berauf wandern geht aber bergab schmerzen die Fsse noch kurzer Zeit. Die Schuhzunge ist zu dnn und die Schnrsenkel drcken/reiben auf dem Fussrist. Nicht geeignet fr Bergwanderungen.

Had heard so many comments about the comfort of Salomon's light hiker I purchased a pair. The width of my foot in any shoe or boot I've ever purchased has been regular or medium. In my 70 years I have never bought a shoe or boot in a wide width ever. This one has such a narrow toe box that it is torture to wear and basically unusable. Digging a little deeper I discovered the narrow toe box is a common complaint with Salomon so much so that the company has started making the X Ultra 3 Mid this model year in a wide width which demonstrates the company knew there was a real problem with the width of the boots. Would that I knew that so I did not waste a good sum of money on a boot which should not have been too narrow on my medium/regular width feet. Being retired and on a fixed income it will be some time before I can save up enough money to pony up for a wide width version - if I ever do. Having hiked portions of the AT, the PCT, and the CDT in everything from Merrell, Danner, Vasque, Lowa, Keen, Asolo, etc., I was so looking forward to trying this offering from Salomon. I also found a good price on last year's heavier duty Quest 4D 2 GTX and bought them as well. I have not tried these yet, but fear the narrow toe box will render them equally unusable. So do yourself a favor if you have a foot of regular width and buy the wide version of this lightweight Mid-hiker and don't throw your money away like I did. The toe box is too narrow and I'm hoping I don't lose a big toenail from this torture trap of a toe box.
