This is my first pair of hiking boots. They were comfortable from the beginning. I tried four different pair and these hands-down be comparable boots at same price or higher. I will use these on snow and ice in MN. I wear am 8.5 shoe but got a 9 after reading reviews and it was the right decision. My foot is a bit wider with a high instep but these fit fine

I wish these had fit. Hi-Tec makes such a good looking leather hiking boot. I have an old pair of Hi-Tecs from years ago that I loved. I have a narrow foot, but with the addition of a green superfeet insole and a Dr Scholl's foam insole, I was able to make them work. But the last couple of years, the right shoe has been rubbing a blister so it was time to replace. These were just too big overall, and even with the addition of the two insoles, they still slipped at the heels. Two quibbles: the laces are not long enough (not usually a problem with my narrow feet) and they are made of a material that is going to slip and come untied.

Needed a new pair of boots for work (Forest Service). Broke them in over the weekend hiking on the Appalachian Long Trail. Did great, feet stayed warm and dry. The ankle padding rubs a bit, but that can be fixed with slouchy hiking socks. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. True to size.

These are the shoes I needed for my uniform, however, I see how they will be uncomfy in the top crease of my foot. Plus, I found a cheaper pair from Columbia that are more comfy and adequate. Great ankle support, decent cushion, returned because I didn't want to pay $100 after finding something adequate for $60.

I went up 1/2 size to 9M, but toes were a little too close for comfort. Going to 9-1/2 would have been the opposite, with too much room in the heel, so I decided to return the boots. Zappos, you're always a good sport about my returns; I'm sure I'll find something!
