I needed a low top hiker for hiking in the Alps mid July and tried several brands in stores and from Zappos, but these Ultra 110 were most comfortable. I had never hiked 10 plus miles each day for 5 days in a row with 4000 ft elevation gain and loss, so went with most comfortable even though I liked the cooler, flashier look of other styles. Solomons were too tight around my entire foot. I also bought and took with me the Hoka Stinson ATR 4 because it was the most cushioned, even though it's not a hiker but a trail runner. I wore both shoes on different days and liked both for different reasons. The Hoka's felt cushiony but not as secure around my foot on the loose scree or the steep downhill. The North Face felt more secure, especially on loose trail, but my feet felt more achy during last couple of miles of day's hike compared to the Hoka. My toes jammed into the shoe box on both Hoka and North Face on the steep descents, giving me 1 black toenail and blister, but only on my bigger left foot. I think if I could only take one shoe I would choose the North Face for it's stability and more secure fit.

Okay so I usually wear Keen or oboz- I have high arches and a wide foot. Also need cushion because I trek across both concrete and grass on the prison grounds where I work as a nurse. I gave these a chance because once I had a pair of north face shoes tnat I really liked. These were an epic fail. They look amazing- north face never fails in the looks department. Sadly, it was just a shell of a shoe. No support, no cushion, no real structure overall besides a strong heel which also dug into my upper ankle area. North face needs to reevaluate their shoe design. These shouldn't have this price tag let alone be intended for use by anyone with legit needs for a quality shoe. Tney can stick to their mountaineer equipment /gear production and leave the footwear to other competent brands.

I wear these every day to walk and hike with my dog. They are so comfortable, stable and my feet stay dry. They are breathable yet warm in the winter.

I really like these shoes I had the older model ( the 109) and these are just as good. They are comfortable and sturdy. They would be good for hikes, but I use them for long/brisk dog walks and as my general cool weather shoes. I love the Gortex feature. I can walk through wet grass and nothing soaks through. I have also worn these shoes in heavy rain and have had to pass through puddles and my feet are dry when I get home. My only complaint is that they could be a little more stylish, but I am someone who values comfort first.

They were lighter then I anticipated. The heel cushion is nice for long walks.

I love these shoes. I trail run 2-4 times a week in them. They're comfortable, grippy on the trails, and take beating. It will be a sad day if TNF ever stops making them. I've got wide feet and high arches, which makes buying shoes that fit comfortably very difficult. These had a minimal break-in period and are great.

I got these shoes only to wear them on rainy days. My previous hiking boots from another brand were too chunky and heavy thus my feet were always cold because they sweat inside the shoes. It's really hard to find a pair of shoes which keeps the feet warm without making them sweaty. I only wore these pair a couple of times but I am already loving them. My feet right now are warm and dry on this rainy day. The sole is so comfortable that make me wanna go hiking too. I love that it has purple and fuchsia details too. My feet are wide and I usually wear wide fit shoes but these had enough room to feel comfortable, yet I need some time to break them in completely.

I bought these shoes for an upcoming vacation to the Smokey Mountains. I wanted waterproof, but more stylish and tennis shoe looking. They are a bit stiff right out of the box. Foot feels very comfortable and shoe feels true to size for me. The sizing guide told me to order a half size down, but I thought no way. I went with my normal shoe size and it's perfect.

Bought a pair of Hedgehog Fastpack. Wanted the same type of shoe but a different color and style. Saw these online and decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed with the comfort part. Will find out next winter if they keep my feet warm and dry.

Nice stiff shank, which I need, aggressive treads, great cushion built into inside sole. Only negative - laces are like ropes, stiff and hard to tighten.

True to size my 9.5 size is same as my other running shoes. They are roomier so I can wear a thicker cushion sock with them. I wore them all day on hilly terrain and my feet were supported and comfortable. I would recommend them highly! Plus I love this color combo.

I love these hiking shoes! They have great durability, traction and aren't too heavy or bulky. I also really liked that there wasn't the awful break-in phase that kill your feet.

I wanted to love these hiking shoes. Very well made but not a lot of support. Wear a 10 and ordered a 10. True to size. Plenty of toe room, too. Even though I had to return, I like the quality of the shoe.

I like how the laces start closer to front of foot. I find that most shoes nowadays are too long at the front for me, but these are great. Good quality and a lot of support. I almost returned them because of the big, chunky, heavy heel but needed waterproof shoes rightaway. I am glad I kept them, and I have gotten used to the heel.

I have wide and flat feet and require extra room in the toe box. These sneakers were able to accommodate my fit. I also removed the insoles they came with and inserted my own orthotics from the podiatrist. There were no issues putting them in. So far I've worn them on dirt/rocky trails and in the rain/mud. My feet stayed dry and the traction was very good. I've tried some other "trail shoes" but they tend to be too tight and narrow for me. I think because these are meant for trails they are heavier than regular running shoes. The only thing I find annoying about them are the laces. They always come undone. It's better to swap out the laces than using the ones that come with them.

Although I love these walking/hiking shoes there is one aspect that I find really isn't good. The inside of the heel wears away within a few weeks, necessitating the placing of duck tape over the worn away area. The North Face used to use leather or suede on the inside of heel but currently use a woven nylon type material that just doesn't hold upto much use. I wear these shoes daily to walk my dog, walking 5-7 miles a day. Indeed, this is the second pair of this particular model and I have had the same issue with both pairs. I feel in a bit of a dilemma, as I find the shoe comfortable and functional aside from the issue with the inside of the heel disintegrating within literally 2-3 weeks!

Love these robust trail shoes, I walk/hike with my dog around the 40 miles per week come rain or shine (where another The North Face boot when snow on ground). Indeed, this is my second pair of this particular shoe-I don't wear any other brand of trail shoe. The one thing that really annoys me is that the inner heel material disintegrates after maybe 12 wears, to the point I have to put duck tape around the heel area. Why oh why did The North Face change the suede/leather inner heel material to none robust nylon?
I'd also recommend:
None - love The North Face.

When I first tried these on, I really thought they were what I was looking for: waterproof shoes for 3-5 mile walks around my neighborhood. I had already tried and sent back several pairs, but these fit my narrow feet/heel well, and the support was comfortable. Unfortunately, after wearing them around the house for about half and hour, my knees and one hip started really hurting. If I'd tried them on in a store, I probably would have bought them and then regretted it. So glad for Zappos returns!

This is a neat looking shoe. It is one of many I have bought online, and one of many I have returned. I really like the big selection at Zappos, and the free shipping and returns! I'm very particular about comfortable shoes, and just haven't found a pair yet that fits the bill for me. And local stores don't have the large selection. I'm back to square one! Thanks Zappos for accepting all my returns! Maybe there is a shoe out there for me yet!

I really like the style of this shoe. HOwever, toe box a little too narrow for my problem outside toes on right foot. Also, shoe is kind of stiff. Need a more flexible shoe for my comfort.
