Tried these on the other day at the store. I was wearing my regular Mexico 66 at the moment. It does feel more comfortable and has better cushioning but I wouldn’t say it made drastic difference plus the overall weight didn’t seem to make difference (they are not performance shoes anyway). I’m not sure if it’s worth extra $65. Maybe if it was priced around $100 more people would go for it. Still very nice shoes.

Let me preface this with stating my love for Mexico 66 shoes in general. I've owned about 4 pairs over the years in all different colours, and for me it's one of my favourite pairs of runners. I thought the black/black Mexico 66 SD shoes were going to look cool, and the video here seemed to make them look pretty swanky. After they arrived though, not so much. They look like something out of a Dr. Leonards catalog. The other colours may be ok, but the black/black leather really didn't work well.

I've purchased and wore out two pairs standard Mexico 66's. They are my all time favorite shoes. I will always one at least one pair!
If you are a fan of the original Mexico 66's then treat yours to these beauties. What a classy looking sneaker.
They are incredibly comfortable. I do struggle with plantar fasciitis, so I swap out the insoles for something a bit more supportive.
My only complaint would be that I am concerned about the longevity of the laces; they're pretty thin.

I normally wear an 8, but after reading a bunch of Onitsuka Tiger reviews I ordered a half size down as recommended. These were really comfy right out of the box, and my only complaint is the thin laces, that I might eventually swap out of different ones. Otherwise, very pleased with this purchase!

I've been wearing traditional Mexico 66's for almost 10 years now. This is my first pair of SDs. I normally order a 9, but went up a half size with these since there is a better insole and wanted to make sure they fit. I'm glad I did. A little pricey, but they feel more stable and are definitely better made.

Excellent shoes in both comfort and look. I can’t wait to purchase another colorway.

You can improve on perfection. I have owned about 6 pairs of Mexico 66 and these are by far the most comfortable and well made pair that I have owned. The quality and comfort is beyond compare with the regular Mexico 66.

This shoe is very eye catching due to the type of shiny material on them and the color combination. A sneaker like this is very different and attracts a lot of attention which I know because I wore these and people kept looking at them and staring hard then working up the nerve to ask me where I got them LOL. The only draw back to this shoe is the cushion is very comfortable but it takes up too much space in the shoe and it makes it tight on the top of the toes feeling like it’s not the right size but the cushion insert is removable. I replaced the thick cushion with a cheap slim cushion insert from Walmart and it fits perfectly!!!

I purchased these in Glacier Grey/Silver. One thing that may be something overlooked due to the price of the SD is the noticeably increased comfort of the insole. It doesn't have enhanced arch support, but they feel significantly better than the base Mexico 66 shoes.
The Glacier Grey/Silver color pattern with the paint brushed metallic silver looks amazing. They are hand painted, so no two pairs are exactly alike.
The sizing was spot on and continues to be one of the main reasons I love Onitsuka Tigers.
The only minus for me is the unusually long laces they come with. This is a non-issue if you prefer your shoes laced up to the top eyelet.
I'd also recommend:
I don't! I'm pretty loyal to Onitsuka Tigers and like the Midrunners and Fencing shoes.
