My preferred luggage has always been backpacks because I enjoy having my hands free. However a recent shoulder surgery has forced me to update my rolling luggage because my old Oakley luggage was rugged but heavy and no longer met carry on requirements. So here's my criteria: 1. Must meet strick carry-on requirements. YES! Current hoping through Europe and 4 flights in, haven't had to check it yet. 2. "Is it bigger on the inside?" YES! I know this is impossible but we have all encountered those bags that seem huge and have low capacity and those gems that seem small but somehow never run out of space. I was hoping the hybrid hard/soft shell feature of this bag would mean I could stuff it if I need too and I absolutely can. 3. I will NOT fight with zippers. CHECK! NOT the smoothest zippers. A bit stiff when I first got the bag but not once have they gotten stuck and the more I use them the more they seem to be breaking in. 4. Two wheels are better than four. Spinners, for me, are a waste of space. I researched similar bags with these exact same dimensions but because they were on 4 spinners instead of two wheels each bag had close to 5 liters less capacity. That's two extra pairs of shoes! 5. Stylish. YES! Super sleek and discreetly rugged. No massive logos that cover the entire bag means I'm not embarrassed to use this bag for a business trip. Even better is the fact it comes in a color other than black, a nice natural/dove grey combo. Not too sporty looking but not too traditional either. My only cons are the two I was already prepared for: 1. Passport pocket is kind of a joke but who puts their passport in a rolling carry on anyways? 2. I chose the light colour which shows dirt and scuffs quite easily. Not a big problem if you don't plan on checking the bag.

I am a very frequent traveller. I try to only have carry-on luggage. This means being able to maximise packing space AND fit in the overhead bin. With the hard bottom, soft top & divider in the middle - my North Face Stratoliner is a dream come true! It has a large capacity and my clothing travels well.

Wow! I had the Rolling Thunder and decided to get another piece of North Face Luggage. Man this is amazing!!! So modern, so stylish, yet still rugged. The handle is so lightweight and so strong, like no other luggage out there. The material is not as "rugged" as the Rolling Thunder, so that is my only concern. I don't know how it will hold up, but other than that, it is amazing.

I like toavoid checking bags on the airplane to make it faster to get out of the airport and reduce baggage charges. This bag lets me pack enough for 10 days and still avoid a checked bag.

I use this for weekend outdoor trips if I'm flying or week-long business trips. Fits a surprising amount of stuff (clothes for a weekend of backpacking + climbing rope + harness + shoes).

I used the stratoliner on a 5 day trip out of state. As a serial pack rat, I was very much impressed with the capacity and ease of use. Specifically the clamshell design that made packing a cinch. Aesthetically it's very easy on the eyes, clean lines, nice profile, and very well constructed-as expected from TNF. My only minor issue were the wheels being directionally fixed-an stumble only down the aisle of the plane, everywhere else was smooth. Again very minor.

Really nice bag with rugged feel. Have used the Rolling thunder line for years and they stand the traveltest. Would be nice it came with some organizer bags inside and a light colored liner for easy spotting of things. Keep it up NF.
