I have had this backpack for 3 years now. 2 years of university and i used it to travel across europe on an 8 day trip. It is still my day to day for work. Honestly, what more could i really ask for? I am one for practicality and this bag epitomises that. Thick canvas, durable material that is water resistant (not waterproof) and strong handles and straps that can hold a lot of weight. Personally, i find it very comfortable to wear and is rather sleek. The laptop sleeve is soft so your laptop won't get scratched etc. The top flap compartment is perfect for keys, wallet etc. and the main compartment provides plenty of room. It is easy to tighten and release the hooks that hold the flap down however it does not release the flap randomly when tipped. I have seen people say that this bag does not fit under seats in a plane but stuffed full i had no issue. To conclude, i fully recommend this bag and receive a lot of compliments on it. The only issue i have is it not standing on its own but the shape is perfect for fitting into smaller spaces. Long review but i like to give credit where it is due.

I'm really enjoying this backpack. I'm a graduate student and this pack fits everything I need for a long day on campus and for a few days of travel. I was traveling for a conference for 5 days and was able to fit all my clothing in the backpack. It is a perfect size, comfortable and lightweight. The top flap has two inside pockets and there is a whistle built into the chest strap. There are also two side pockets that can fit a water bottle. My main critiques are its shape. Because it is a hump shape, it doesn't quite fit under airplane seats well. Additionally, the bottom is not flat so the backpack doesn't stay standing when i put it on the ground and always falls over. My one other critique is that it is very difficult to put my water bottle in the side pockets when my backpack isn't empty. I have to rearrange the contents of my backpack for my water bottle to fit, even when my pack isn't full. I also wish there were one more large pocket inside for slightly smaller items. Overall I am very happy with my backpack and it has been one of my best purchases this year!

Some things left out by TNF. -There are two zippered compartment in the "flap" that covers the main opening of the bag. -The first zippered compartment is large enough to hold my iPad mini 4; The second one is within the first one and is large enough for smaller items such as keys, wallet, and other accessories of that size. -There is a laptop compartment on the inside. -Whistle on the chest strap I was hesitant to purchase because I wasn't sure if there was a laptop compartment or extra zippered pocket to hold smaller items but was surprised to see both upon arrival. There is also a non-removable "backing" to help the bag hold it's shape. I have not worn it yet but feel that so far it will be an excellent travel companion.

I highly recommend this bag. It's a perfect sized pack for anything and everything. The first pack I look to when I need to get somewhere quick. Easily accessible without much fumbling around for zippers here and there. The straps may look thin, but they are surely comfortable. The side pockets could've been a bit bigger for larger bottles or cans and probably another pocket on the exterior would've put this bag over the top. Other than those few misses, this pack is the do all pack that I have been looking for and perhaps for you as well.

Been a long time since the last time I bought a backpack and wasnt quite sure at the beginning because I bought it without haven't seen it before but on the web, don't regret it at all. It's comfortable, moderm and really practical, for the everyday life to an outdoors adventure. It's got a lot of room. Everyone I meet keeps on telling me: "wow, I want one".

A very stylish backpack for everyday use or travels. It surprisingly provides great storage space for such a small body. Would like to see the water bottle holder have some kind of elastic to keep the bottle in place. Overall a great backpack for budget value.

This is a really good bag, but there is certain things that can makeing this bag a lot batter. Like making it bit bigger or wider so it would be easier to put books or binder in there.

My only issue is that there isn't a option for a waist strap. I've looking for a good draw string style daily pack from multiple different brands. I have used it for work, trips to shooting range and even soccer with friends. Design works for everything I've done so far.

The straps are ingenious but should there really be two of them? Another thing about the straps is that they will eventually rip with the overuse of the metal bottle opener clasps. The hump shape doesn't allow you to add as much as other North Face bags. The shoulder straps are not as comfortable previous generations. All in all, the highlights of this bag is somewhere to put your drinks, its waterproof, the bottle opener is one of its greatest features but also its downfall for longevity (in case you're sentimental about bags like I am and want to hold on to them for awhile), the print designs are just stunning--I can't get enough of it! The whistleblower chest strap was another bonus too. Always good to carry a whistle just in case anything happens these days. You can never be too careful. Also the bottom can withstand quite a bit of damage from constant dragging, laying down the bag on the floor, a hit from a branch when climbing, and even falls and the occasional scrapes from rocks like at Jumbo Rocks in Joshua Tree National Park. The laptop pouch should have a bit more cushion and protection. I'll say the bag is an improvement in the way that its three steps forward and two steps back. I've had a lot of North Face bags but this one should go back to the drawing board and put back what it made it so great in the first place but still keep what was changed. Maybe reinforce the loops for the bottle opener clasps. That's my one regret about the purchase it how long will those straps until they give out.

I really love this pack - it's minimal, all the features you need and none that you don't. A reinforced bottom, burly water-resistant fabric, enormous water bottle pockets (this one's for you, 64-ounce water bottle toter) made out of bombproof material, cinch straps to keep your water bottles in place, a streamlined main compartment and well-designed lid - it's functional, durable, and just about perfect. Sadly, the straps are a different matter. The outside edge of the pack straps rubs my upper arms, and cinching the sternum strap to the point of relief makes the inside edge of the straps bite into my neck. By the end of a weekend camping trip with very moderate day hiking, I had wrapped the shoulder straps in gauze in a futile attempt to ease the pain. I'm a woman of average build - this might not be an issue for a larger person, but I suspect the straps would be even more intolerable for a smaller person. The pack will be great for winter hiking (with a heavy jacket covering my arms) or carrying gear (a short distance) to the crag, but it just doesn't fit well enough to serve as an all-purpose day pack.
