I have never been able to find shoes that fit my daughters AFOs Perfectly. Absolutely love the shoes and I will continue to buy the shoes every time my daughter needs new AFO’s.

I bought these shoes for my grandson who needs to wear AFO’s “leg braces” they are working our perfectly.

Very comfortable. The top is soft, so it allows a good amount of flex. Perfect for my toddler. It is easy to put on, my 3-year-old can do it herself. The hook and loop is strong enough, so it stays on.

I purchased these for my granddaughter who wears a plastic foot brace because the back zips out. It is soo easy to insert her brace. We had previously bought 5 other pairs of shoes trying to get a fit, and one pair was orthopedic from her doctor. None worked, but her therapist suggested Zappos and this shoe! Wow! I wonder why her doctor did not recommend this shoe?? It is in style and doesn't look out of place like an ortho shoe does. Her foot with the brace slips in without effort! I highly recommend this shoe!

These are awesome for my daughter who wears AFOs. The zipper in the back makes them super easy-much better than trying to cram her feet into regular shoes. I wish the Velcro strap was about two inches longer, but these still work great for her!

My son also wears SMOs, as many other parents in the comments section stated. Before finding these I wouldn't say we struggled to find sneakers that worked for the SMOs, but it was more challenging than simply ordering a pair. We used Chuck Taylors for his small SMOs but as he grew (he is going to be four in October) there became a need to find a sneaker that would work for the bigger braces. I have asked if Nike made these shoes specifically for kids with braces but never got a straight forward answer. I am assuming yes now since I saw the ad on Zappos' main page of a kid wearing SMOs and the Flyeases. It's pretty heartwarming to see companies making an effort like that for special needs kids. I wouldn't necessarily buy these shoes for a child that doesn't wear SMOs, but that's totally my preference. For as long as they make them, my son will wear them. I have found that removing the insert of the sole is the only way to get his feet to sit low enough to use the velcro strap. Though with all other shoes we've used with the SMOs we've removed the sole as well. My son is hard on shoes and these have not ripped or frayed - the toe is reinforced and has worked out thus far. If you aren't convinced that these are the best shoes for kids with SureSteps then I don't know what else I could possibly say to convince you.

My 2yr old daughter is now into her second pair of these shoes and they are still our “go to” pair. They’re cute, they fit well, and they’re perfect for preschool. Upon arrival of the first pair, I had missed the fact that they zip through the heel area. For kids with thicker feet, this will probably be helpful. We tend not to use the function and with the black color, you can’t even tell the zipper is there. One thing we like about this line is the reinforcement in the toe area. Some of the other Nike styles, like the Free and Roche, have just the flimsy fabric toe. My kids play hard at daycare and the reinforcement helps keep their shape and protects the material. Overall, they are wearing very well and we are pleased.

Ok overall so far... My 2 year old runs around all day... Great sneakers for everyday!

My son wears SMOs and it’s so hard to find shoes that fit. These are perfect!! So easy to get on his feet and bonus they are harder for him to remove so I’m not putting them on every 10 minutes. I bought a 1/2size up just like other shoes.

My son wears AFOs and these fit over them perfectly! So easy to get his shoes on! We always order one size up to fit his AFOs and it was the Sams with these shoes!

Unfortunately like others, I purchased these shoes hoping to fit it over my son's AFOs but the velcro strap wasn't long enough. This is disappointing because the zipper at the back would have made getting shoes on so much easier. If Nike could make a velcro strap with elastic to allow more stretch, that would be great!

The shoe is cute and looks comfortable but one of the zippers gets stuck and is hard to use. I didn’t notice the zipper when I purchased them and would have picked a different shoe but she’ll grow out if these soon anyways.

I got these in the hopes that they would fit over SMOs but they are not wide enough. It would be nice to have a width choice with the toddler shoes so they would. They are easy to get on and off so we didn’t return them. We’ll save them for when her foot is bigger. I know other older children have used these with SMOs and AFOs but the toddler ones were not successful for us. Overall it’s a great shoe and light enough for her to walk in.

The fit and the size were perfect for my 2 year old daughter. However, I purchased these because I was told that the flyease was a great shoe for children who wear braces on their feet/legs. While the brace fit into the shoe nicely, the depth of the shoe is a little too shallow to properly support the brace. My daughter is able to push her foot out of the brace. Luckily, I have twins, so my other daughter will be able to wear them! I was very impressed with how quickly I was able to receive the shoes and Zappos was wonderful. :)

Trying to find a shoe for a kiddo with braces is hard. These are so easy to put on and the velcro strap actually reaches across the shoe. They are perfect!! I just wish they came in more colors.

Went 2 sizes bigger for my sons afos and still does not fit too narrow. I strap is not long enough and just zipping them up without feet in there is difficult. Hope there isn't an issue returning them.

I love how Nike is trying to incorporate shoes that are slo-mo and another braces related.. Overall great product, shoe fits nicely, the zipper with velcro strap is a nice touch, But the Velcro strap is too short! It is so disappointing, I really had high expectations on this shoe. My son only has a slo-mo braces which are ankle height, so they're very thin with 2 strap on top of his foot. It barely velcros on, I don't know if I should just return them or sew on an extension of the strap.

I had a hard time telling from the photos that these shoes have a zipper running around the back, attached to a flimsy-looking tab in the front. We don't mess with the zipper at all--it looks like it might break if you pulled it in a rough manner--so it is a feature that does not do much for us. Had I realized that the shoes had this element, I would not have purchased them because they look to be simply one more way that my son can destroy a pair of shoes before he has grown out of them!

Cute and lightweight, but they weren't wide enough to fit my son's extra wide feet and his SMOs. I ordered these shoes in a few different sizes and felt that the zippers caught when zipping and unzipping even without my son's feet in them.

I loved the idea of these shoes. My son wears smo’s and the shoes wouldn’t zip. Just the couple of time I tried sipping up the shoe, it was catching on material and starting to snag. Not a lasting product. Very cute shoes though. Someone needs to tap into the orthopedic shoe market and shake things up.

I thought the back zipper would help with accommodating one of my student’s AFOs. I had to remove the foot bed in order to get her foot down far enough to close the shoe with the Velcro. Even then, it barely closes. She is not walking or running, so it is staying on for now. The rubber sole is much better for her than the plastic soles on her cheap sneakers from Wal-Mart. She gets better traction in her gate trainer in these Nike’s. The Billy shoes will probably be better for the AFOs, but their sizes don’t start until size 10. These are really cute.

While I love that Nike attempted to design a sneaker for children who wear SMO/AFO braces, it unfortunately didn’t meet our need; a need which I think is pretty standard with most SMO/AFO brace wearers. The braces have padding over the strap that crosses the top of the foot/ankle, which adds to the overall thickness. The velcro strap over the sneaker would not close because of this. I even took the padding off in attempt to see what the difference would be & while it did strap, it was only barely. Once a child or anyone really gets to moving throughout the day, it is popping off. I really hoped that this sneaker would be the fix in allowing my son to still have stylish footwear, while wearing his braces, but alas, that was not the case, so I’ll be returning them. I can’t believe how hard it is to make a stylish shoe while still meeting the needs of the brace wearer; especially since the velcro strap on this shoe is such a simple fix; just needs more material. Nike, please make this fix.
