Quality is excellent but these are made way too narrow. Also I realize why it should be Velcro until they can tie their shoes at 6 or 7.

Too green for me with rosin.

I am so disappointed in these. As an adult female with wide, small feet, I have relied on New Balance for years. I have purchase numerous pairs of size 2.5 Wide shoes over the years, and the 574s were my "go-to" travel shoe. Not only have they changed the style of the black and white 574, they also have changed the width and design. I tried it on next to last year's model, and I thought I was loosing my mind. This year's toe box is longer and narrower than earlier models. I don't have a picture, but in a side view of both models, you can see the difference in the amount of mesh fabric that is used. I'm not sure whether this was a cost-based decision, or fit--it just doesn't work for me now. Zappos is great as always as I have moved to Nike Revolution boys wide fit.

Our son has been wearing the last 3 years only new balance 574. It’s the first time that we are not satisfied with the quality. For some reason he has a big whole on the side and they look very worn out even though he has been wearing them only a few months .

Poor quality. These shoes didn’t last a month with my boys. The laces frayed and the suede turned gray. Not worth it. I already have to buy them new shoes.

Material didn’t hold up well at all. Broken in several places in less than a month

Full disclosure - the kid, like most kids, is rough on the shoes. This is my third pair because he's an XW and hard to buy for. First pair lasted a year. Second pair lasted about 9 months - and then got 2 inch gash up the side seam. Bought my third pair and within a week he had a 2 inch hole in the front of one of the shoes. Guess I can't buy these again.

My son loved the look and feel of these sneakers and he's heartbroken that they ripped (see photos). We've had them for less than a month and he's been wearing them indoors at school (boots outside in the snow) so they are in otherwise great condition. He's worn other sneaker brands that eventually wear out, but this is the first time he's had the material rip. Would not recommend.

Quality POOR. Ripped in less than a week.
