I wanted to love this boot so badly! I love the style, but the fit just didn't work for me. The top of the boot was very narrow at the ankle, I almost couldn't zip them all the way. The rest of the boot was HUGE, it was very wide. I would order a size down for my foot to fit, but I'm not sure I could zip them. Super bummed these didn't work, as they are such a cool style.

I love the look but it just didn’t fit. I’m pretty a consistently a size 10 but should have ordered a 9. Also the top of the boot painfully rubbed my shins.

Great construction, quality leather and sole materials in Docs tradition. Very stylish, I would not recognize them as Docs on the street and they are great for an office environment. My only real issue is the zipper in the back - why not on inner ankle? It really rubbed my heel wearing normal mid-calf socks. I am now wearing those socks plus an ankle pair over them and that has completely fixed the issue. I'm hoping it's just the break in period. They are easy to walk in and relatively supportive vs other Chelsea boots I tried - but I wouldn't call them cushy. I may look for an insole to help make it feel less wide and make them something I could walk around on a city trip for a full day in.

These were way too big for me to be able to really assess comfort level. Looked good, but felt a full size to large. I am going to order 1 size down to see if that helps. Am worried it might get too tight around my lower calf though.

Not quite my style and just too clunky, but well-made.

These boots look great, but if your calf is anything other than stick thin beware! My upper ankle hurt for 10 minutes after only having these on for 2 minutes. Back to Zappos they go...

I tried these boots in two sizes and obviously I need the half size that Dr. Marten's just does not make. I usually wear a Women's 11, and I have high arches. I got the 42 and they were super cute and that slim ankle looks really cool! But they were just too tight. I knew they'd rub with walking and the leather is quite stiff. I then tried the size 43, and these just rattle around on my feet, even WITH a Spenco half insole, AND a thick pair of wool socks! They also looked huge, like I was wearing my Dad's boots, much looser in the ankle. Though I love the style, I'm old enough to be done wearing any shoe that does not fit or is uncomfortable, no matter how attractive the style. Also maybe worth mentioning to the Docs super fan base, there was a change in the label style between the 42 and the 43. The embroidered label that is attached to the zipper pull was the classic yellow on black "Bounding Soles" on the size 42, but it a much more (too?) subtle black on black on the size 43. Maybe the brand has updated this and I got shoes from different assembly batches. This wasn't the deal breaker, though, it was the FIT! I am sad they have to go back.

Beautiful boots and extremely well-made. I'm usually an 8 1/2 and sized down to an 8. The length and width were great, however they were too tight around my ankle and I had to return them.

Really wanted to like this item, but alas. I tried both a 9 and a 10, and the sizing was awkward. I’m normally a size 10. The 9 was a half size too small and the 10 a half size too big - but this is easily solvable if you purchase the Dr Martens insoles, which can serve to size correct. What I struggled with the most was the top piece of the boot - way too stiff and painful. I have relatively normal ankles/calves and with a thin sock the ankle part was painful with every step. Would take a big sacrifice to break in, if possible. Also, the 10s I received looked worn. Had a small scratch and some creasing, plus the stitching was damaged. However Zappos customer service was great and offered to remedy this issue.

Was too big and too clunky for me. I ended up going with Everlane Chelsea boots as I wanted something dressier.

As other have said, the ankle opening is very narrow and incredibly uncomfortable, even in the size that was on the bigger side (9 US) for me. Which is a shame given the overall style that I liked very much. I opted for a different pair that fit wonderfully as an 8 US. Sending these back.

These shoes run really large for me but I may try a size down if they become available. I’m not a fan of how cheap and man-made the leather feels. Perhaps they feel better with time but as someone who wore docs in the late-90’s and 2000’s, these feel drastically lower I quality. That said, even if the smaller size works for me, the cheapness of this boot may result in another return. So disappointed!

Runs big and the back is stiff and uncomfortable.

I normally wear a 7.5-8. In boots I tend to get size 8 b/c I often want thicker socks or an insole. This UK size-6 was supposed to be a US size-8. Ankle opening was narrow (needed 2 hands to widen it so my foot could get in) and then the shoe itself was huge in every way. And then the thinner ankle opening cut into my leg. I've never tried this brand before; it's not for me. The leather quality was good.

I love these shoes but I have bruises on my shins after a long work day. I’m unsure if they will ever break in. Going to try woolskin. Other than terrible shin pain they are great.

Stiff leather, weirdly shaped toe. Not for me!
